Dell OpenManage SPLUNK WireShark iDRAC

A real life example of this is when I took over my team as IT Ops Mgr 3 years ago, we used "willy nilly" homegrown helpdesk systems that were sorely lacking in several areas (accurate metrics, no reporting, etc). Not only did this lead to poor response times and bad tech service in general, but it also gave the perception…

For my team it is definitely that unresponsiveness/unavailability of the customer and/or vendors. In today's world, w/ flex schedules, telecommuting, and various other work from home scams, it makes it very difficult for my crew to avoid the ticket resolution abyss of non-responsiveness.

There's a typo in the July 25th question (integratoin)
-
I second that!
-
I would add #5 - Train your user base! I once read a quote that went (paraphrasing) COO asks CIO "What happens if we train our users, and they leave?" CIO asks COO "What happens if we don't, and they stay?"
-
I think that you will be very pleased w/ WHD for that purpose. One of the things I love about WHD is the fact that once you tie it to an E-Mail address, it works very smoothly (ticket submission, updates, etc.) via E-Mail reply/responds. A number of our users find it much easier to submit a ticket via E-Mail as opposed to…

You beat me to it!

I've had this same issue. I exported the assets into Excel and manipulated the data there, then reimported. As long as you back up the data, it's usually a pretty benign process.

@hansons If you log into your network monitors, then click Settings in the upper right Then click Configure Default Send E-Mail Action All you need to do then is enter the phone numbers you want to SMS followed by the carrier codes (@vtext.com or @txt.att.net) We also send the alerts to our Web Help Desk (WHD) E-Mail…

So you'll need to have the agent on the server you want to collect the logs from, and then setup your Windows [Application, Security, System] Log Connectors. I do this on my Domain Controllers to monitor logon/logoff events. Let me know if you need more help w/ this.
-
So, you are attempting to have LEM grab logs from a correlation server?
-
1. Custom properties referenced in #1 are set in NCM in this case. You basically "hard code" information into a specific field. If you are unaware of this, it's likely not the culprit. 2. Good. 3. Ugh, yeah, those are some pretty bland options for SNMP

This should give you a good starting point. It's not going to measure the amount of files copied, but you can modify the actions as you see fit. This rule will actually prevent the file copy execution, send a pop-up message, and notify via E-Mail. Let me know should you need further assistance.

Hi silverbacksays, I have tested this for about a week now, and can confirm that once the media is encrypted, LEM can no longer see events on the device short of insertion and removal. Our team has decided that it would be better to leave the drive unencrypted and monitor events on the drive, rather than encrypt the drive…

Closed tickets can be reopened by the users. You may also want to report on closed vs resolved, so that could be another thing to consider.
-
Thanks curtsi. I've used Splunk (and the rest of them) and LEM is by and large a dominant product, so it has every reason to be on that list. If you need any additional documentation on the specs and such of the project, please let me know.

You could go with an external solution: AVTECH - Monitor Temperature and Environment Conditions with Room Alert Devices and GoToMyDevices... Anywhere... Anytime…
-
Rick is correct. A log off and logging back in resolved the issue for me as well.
-
Establish and E-Mail template for your particular approval request, and then use the <network_name> tag in the template body.
-
Have you tried bouncing the SAM service and/or the server?
-
Could it be that your Actions (Change Status to Assigned) is triggering the Approval Process to no longer be blank? Have you tried removing the Status (Approved) from your conditions just to see if you can get a blank approval process to trigger the action? Have you moved this particular Action Rule to #1 in the priority,…
-
Kayserm's answer is correct. A log off and log back on will show the results. Another way to get the results to show is to re-run your connectors for your assets. I'm not sure why this works, but I know that it does work.
-
Anytime!
-
Yes I do. So you'll need to create your LEAVERS group in AD. Then from the LEM console, click on Build >> Groups from the top menu: Then click on the gear in the upper right and click Directory Service Group Then find the group in the lower left: Once you have the group built, you can add it to your rule under Directory…
-
Are you able to see the screenshot of the rule above?
-
I can help you with this, but I am wondering if you are considering the entire scenario. I assume that you want to be alerted when someone who is leaving the organization is attempting to take company data with them, correct? Are you only interested in USB devices? What about cloud storage? What about burnable cd/dvds? How…
-
I think that is a generic error. In other words, I don't think LEM knows what is causing the error. Are you seeing this error repeatedly?
-
It would be helpful if you clarified your question.
-
So, you are wanting to put WHD out on the internet? Maybe I'm confused.
