makes wonder what SolarWinds Observability is telling them about the reason for the slowdown, and if any of their Data-Driven Decision Makers made any Data-Driven Decisions about it...
-
P.S. "AI" and "AIOps"? Just another buzzword, like "observability". As in, "monitoring engineer"? Meh... "observability engineer"? Ooooh... When can you start? You'd think by now, SharePoint, Google Drive (on enterprise subscriptions of course) would "AI" the inefficiencies in ops and tell us the top operational failures…

I did 3 and it worked ("correct answer").

Wow, look! Two down votes so far. I wonder what they didn't like about my post? Friendly little community, this one. it's the same all over the place, from reddit to stackoverflow to spiceworks - you post something slightly critical or something the locals don't like - and get pummelled or worse. (I am still banned from…

SolarWinds security posture? Not the company's or the datacenter's - but SolarWinds'? Free updates of course. Sure, charge for support - but updates?
-
I may be wrong but I thought this already implemented. Unfortunately not. It's a bug that's been there since at least 2009: Can a Dynamic DNS node be monitored?

is there a new person / team writing questions in the past 3 days? Seems that this week's questions are confusing and ambiguous.
-
'ContentType' set to 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' as shown - stopped working for me across multiple Teams channels at the beginning of July despite working prior to that, and despite still working for Slack. Changing it to 'Application/Json' - fixed it. (So far.)

tempting to call SolarWinds sales and marketing with those questions...

Which one is the "2nd paragraph" - #2 or #3? (Technically the block of bullet points is the 2nd one in the "RUM section". ... and not seeing the answer to the question in either paragraph - just me?

Thank you - that worked!

To me, observability answers the questions of: * how reliable the operation is, and is going to be; * how well the IT team and infrastructure meet user and business expectations ... which is a more encompassing (and challenging) take on monitoring, as it asks, and attempts to answer, questions such as, "what are the most…

Challenges determining SLIs. (... and then collecting relevant metrics) As in, figuring out what's important for the business and how it connects to what I (need to) do in my job duties. As in, answering the questions, "what are the most important business metrics, and what data do we need to keep an eye on them"? (Seems…

From where I am standing (I am about 8 months into this sysadmin job): documentation, incident response are the top priorities - what DBs are we running, what do these DBs do, who is accessing them, what is the history of incidents or issues with them? (Or to put it another way: when something breaks, where do I go look if…

My group is actively looking for a solution. Besides location, MAC addresses, in-service dates, we also need to be able to add a changelog and free form updates, e.g. maintenance, updates and upgrades performed, "the server had a BSOD today", and be able to quickly look these up. Did the IP addresses change? When, why, by…

Thank you! (That was one of my thoughts, too. Great minds...)

I am still hesitant... Looking at Virtualization Manager’s capacity-planning report in the online demo, how much storage does the simulated host have in the VSAN Cluster? Does it sound a little like, "how many potatoes do you have in your simulated stomach after the simulated dinner proposed by your simulated spouse?" I.e.…

Just now incorrectly answered the question that had "ONLY" in it. (The tab has been open since I arrived at work some 5 hours earlier so it still had the original version of the question in it.) Lesson for the future: refresh before answering.

enjoyed the slideshow and... did I miss IT (administration and engineering) consumerization as a trend? It's nothing new, yet the trend seems to accelerate towards simpler, user friendlier applications and systems, abandoning systems that perhaps have richer functionality yet are harder to manage.
-
Still don't get it... Choices in the demo vs. choices in the question: Apparent matches: * Cisco 3725 * ProCurve Switch 4202vi-48G * Juniper SRX100 ... yet I can only choose a single match in the question? Is Solarwinds setting me up? Also, is it just me, or the question seems to be syntactically incorrect? The LM is…

Aug 8 question: Assuming this isn't the answer: While this is? Is there a way to navigate to the correct answer where it's spelled out rather than mapped? Thanks!

How does one combine useful results from a universal poller (interface metrics, sysLocation, etc.), with custom OIDs (e.g. 10-15 data points from hardware sensors that have vendor-specific OIDs)? (Apologies if this is a silly question - I am still new to this.)
-
Looks like it's been fixed... Single match now.
-
Agreed, as written - simply inaccurate. Got it wrong, too.
-
....and yup, all incorrect answers have been reset. Good luck! Does my incorrect answer qualify for a reset? (Answered around 7am PDT I think...Supposedly before the reset... Tried signing out and in, tried an incognito window - still "incorrect".)

To cut down on the alert noise, and the sheer number of alerts and alert condition we manage, we need: * conditional trigger actions with access to all variables in trigger conditions * conditional escalation logic - again, with access to all variables in trigger conditions * site-wide trigger actions conditions E.g. * if…

True. Still unclear how to handle this properly other than disable the thresholds altogether.

totally! I got it wrong by 2nd-guessing my initial answer before reading the linked article - then went to read it, changed the answer, and got smacked with "You answered this question incorrectly". I sort of get it that they differentiate between the monitoring itself (e.g. vehicle speed relative to speed limit), and what…
