How did you installation turn out? I have purchased UDT to add to my existing deployment of NPM and NCM and working on a plan to implement it. Like stated in this post I am having difficulty understanding fully the product and how it integrates with NPM. I have a primary NPM/NCM server, 3 additional NPM servers, and an…

Hello, I am trying to do something much like this, getting a report that tells me how often the backup circuit has saved the day. In my case the backup circuits are DSLs and T1 with Tunnels built on them, sometimes on a 2nd router sometimes on the same as primary. As of right now i monitor the HSRP as a node and if those…

Yes this would have been great to be able to do, I too have the app hang and looks like its working but its realy not. what I am doing now is, I have Polling Engines Status on my homepage and I can atleast at a glance see last database sync.

Anything ever come of this? I could really use this feature.

I have a similar setup and contacted support on it, they told me it was by design and there was no work around. Bad change in my book, now I will need to retrain the entire support staff and explain why the software sais an entire site is down when in reality its only 1 device.

Hello, I'm Still having problems with this. I added a Custom field for nodes (Comments) then marked the node that i wanted to alert on as (AIX). I was able to shorten the first Conditional group this way, but seems to always fail on the second. I have tried to reword it to put it in both Trigger Condition or Alert…

I to am trying to do this, and it pulls great information but how can we make the labels usefull?

The primary objective is to be alerted if an interface in our AIX environment starts to get errors. In the past the AIX group has had problems with the AIX machines and where doing their own troubleshooting but it turned out to be a bad switch. After they got the network team involved we noticed the errors on the…

Support did the work via remote, but there was several blank fields in the nodeID column I believe it was in the ConfigArchive table. They deleted the lines that had the blank NodeID field and everything began working.

I moved it to the forum.

I am not able to upgrade to UDT 2.0 yet but I am excited to see some of the new features in action, and hope that it does solve some of the layer 3 polling shortcomings. Hopefully I will be able to do upgrades soon after the New Year.

I have not updated from 9.0 SP2 to the new 9.1 yet, but withthis change mentioned it may cause some confusion for me. Let me know if I’mreading this wrong. I have a USmap with sub maps on it, the sub maps are Visio drawings of the site , All the sites have 2 WAN connections . In the past if 1 was down but site was stillup…

At this time we have the main poller and 1 additional poller, Looking at adding atleast one more soon as we upgrade from 9.5 to 10. I know the additional poller is greatly need at this time and should help speed dramatically, but still questioned if NPM logs on and off every time it dumps any poll information to the DB.

I installed the SP1 for 9.1 and now the DB maintenance runs in 10 min, and no deadlocks. thanks!

I was getting same blank screen. I got this problem fixed with the help of support. I had sever corrupt lines in my database that was causing the problem. Thanks for the input.

I have installed the RC of 10.2 and the thin AP does disappear from the list when it is down but because of this I cannot use the Thin AP down alert. Should the AP be removed immediately, or after X amount of time, or with user intervention? Or better yet am I missing something?

Did you get this to work? I am try to do something similar to this and I can get a Advanced alert to fire. I have 4 switches that I want to monitor the ports on, (any other switch ports I do not want to alert) Then I have several thresholds on these interfaces if hit should trigger the alert. below is what I have ( have…

My core does do layer 3 but only for some Vlans. I do have it marked as layer 3 and I get IP information for those vlans hosted on the core but do not get IP information for Vlans hosted on the checkpoint firewall. (The Arp tables would be on firewall not the core).

Great tool, The question I have is in using this as a report. I am wanting to use the report for down interfaces, and add a colume and filter from the interface database (custom field) Is this posible now or with some tweeking? I have not been able to make it work. In my case I only want to report on down primary WAN…

Thanks, I tried the linked background and that seemed to work. Once all the links are setup it should make it work the way it was before.
-
Thanks, I had not found that post. But reading through it I am still a little confused. First sounds like I would need a report for each of my sites. This could be 100 or more alerts. Next most of these sites do have 2 routers – and I only want to be alerted when these two routers are down. (Site down hard) I have every…
-
Hi, thanks for the response I'm Just starting to go through all my routers and label them Primary or Secondary. Let me know if I am thinking about this wrong. Because we have some sites with 1 router with 2 circuits, and other sites with 2 routers each with one circuit I am thinking to do 2 separate reports, one for 1…

I just finished the upgrade to 6.1 and I continue to have problems with the ability to edit nodes in NCM. I have a number of devices that have had IP changes and I would rather edit the current node with the new IP then Delete old node and add a new one. Has anyone else seen this. Thanks
-
Yes, I continue to have this problem. My NCM server has been restarted since I made the changes to the credentials to give them admin access again.

Hello, We do have allot of elements 25,732 mostly interfaces. Default node and Interface polls = 120 Sec Default Polling Statistics = 10 - 15 minutes Maybe 35 - 40 Different Alerts We also do use the Universal Device Poller but do not poll too many different things, maybe 12 different pollers on different devices.

I to am looking for a good way to use this 64 bit value. This does not convert the sting to anything meaningful for me. Is it possible to put a wild card value in the Map values? you could then with some work put in several 64 bit values with the fields you are looking for. ***1***... = value ***0***... =

Thanks for the input, These options even though they look time consuming to setup just might get me what I need. I may need to give them a shot. I wish SW would just integrate better grouping and relationships rather then counting solely on custom properties. Seems like management is wanting more and more alerting and…

Anyone from Solarwinds is this possible or is it on the roadmap? You can already display nodes in groups then show that group as down (RED) can this function be moved into an alert?
-
Hello, Has anyone used an alert for an interface when "status has changed"? Further testing with above alert seem to be failing on this parameter.
-
I see this is an old post, but did you ever find a good way of getting this info without triggering alerts?
