Solved ths one as well - it seems once again that restarting the Alerting Service fixed things. Soooo... it has been my experience that whenever I add a new Advanced Alert I need to restart the Alerting Service before it will actually work.

One thing that has helped a lot so far - I originally had my default time period for NTA charts set to the last 2 hours, I have now changed that to the last 30 minutes and the charts load much faster. Although increasing it manually for the view has the same delay effect.
-
At the very least allow us to detach the resource after changing the time period and change the chart width. I just thought I'd have a look to see what protocol traffic was like over the last 24 hours, to see how things changed throughout the day, and the squished together 24 hour chart looked like a blob, with no real…

I would LOVE a feature like this. For something like a UPS I would like to display the input voltage, battery capacity, current load, temp, etc. in one table. I would like to do this same thing with some of our microwave radios - ie. display the configured frequencies, signal strengths, modulation rates, etc. Who do I have…

Oops. A few more minutes with the search feature and I found my answer. The extra DB files are related to NTA and the division of data into multiple files for increased performance. I will restore them with their original names.

Is no one selling their services? Or just no one that wants to give away their secrets? haha

Also, I'm concerned that when the Trigger occurs for matching the MIB, what is the output/result? Does that show as a "status" for the next rule to match? It might suck, but it might be better to break out each MIB match like the rules below it, so the Status check isn't one level above the MIB match? Just trying to…

And who caught you in that situation? It's always embarassing when you have your pants down and someone runs in with a network issue. Hope it doesn't get on YouTube! ;-) I agree. You should be able to get away with using a single "Trigger When all of the following apply" with the two conditions underneath. Other…

Soooo.... after a little more reading in some Extreme Networks documentation I believe I have found my answer. As per the specifications of sFlow in RFC 3176, sampling is done on ingress only. Damn.

If I understand your question correctly, you basically want to know if you can configure individual SNMP port numbers other than the default for individual nodes? ie. poll device_1 at 1.1.1.1:2001 and device_2 at 1.1.1.1:2002? Then, yes, you can configure a specific port for polling SNMP for a specific device. ICMP will be…

Wow, I really like your 3D view of the campus. Very cool. I have a network of telecommunciations tower sites that I use Orion to monitor. I used a background from our radio path study software (Pathloss) with the microwave network and added small LEDs for the site maps (I hope the attach works here). My site specific maps…

Web admin list resources, same switch...

Okay, so as was mentioned in another thread by Denny, the BB browser sucks b*lls. So, I downloaded Opera Mini and it works! It's not perfect, since it's not a Storm specific version, but it works.

Screenshot of the resource here showing part of the list: zzz - adding the filter rule for the unmanaged nodes works. Thanks. Simple answer but I never even thought of it (already had a filter for another customer that has nodes go down all the time). Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Perfect! Thanks Lenny, I will upgrade tonight. Will the released SP2 have the fix, or should I download and install the fix after as well?
-
Is there any fix for us bums that have not upgraded to 9.1 SP2 - we chose not to upgrade from 9.0 SP2 to 9.1 due to the undesired changes in the parent/child icons colors for down nodes etc. on maps. Are we now forced to upgrade to 9.1 SP2 if we want this fixed??

Finally, I have some good news. After executing some queries (as suggested by Euphorik) in SQL Manager, and looking at the results, it appears that when I changed the names of a few of my pollers some time ago the names did not (do not?) get updated in the database. But while I could trigger alerts and display info using…
-
Okay, so I must be the idiot out of this crowd. haha I'll start off by saying I now get values for my first two queries - pollers named upsInputVoltage, and upsInputFrequency. The only strange part is that the value I get for the input voltage is not what the actual value is. If I flip off the breaker for the UPS in our…

So, I'm still not an SQL genius, but I have been playing around with MS SQL Server Management Studio. I have been using the first query shown here (regarding the input voltage). When I plug that query in for this database and execute it I get the following error message: Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 3 Incorrect syntax…

Wellllll..... so much for formal support. I'm told SW doens't formally support doing SQL queries this way. Here is the response I got: Thank you for contacting SolarWinds. If you are simply wanting to get the rate for the value that triggered the condition, then you simply need to use the insert variable tool and under…

I am ashamed and embarrassed to say that I also found an account limitation that caused my issue. The limitation that was created for our UPS views was made by a person not very experienced - the limitation was by a group of nodes with the UPS's selected, instead of by device type so that all nodes of that type got that…
-
I hate to say it, but this is happening to me right now as well - just added 8 nodes at a new site, and the Tripplite UPS is the only thing that this is happening to. I can't get the info tom come up in any view. Same deal, delete the node, add again, and the same thing happens. I have even added other nodes so the node ID…

Thanks for the tip, Andy. We are always looking for a way to speed things up. Any tips on improving IIS performance? haha Any info on how to move those temp log files? Aaron

There are two ways that I can think of: 1 - Add a custom property to your servers to specify which department they belong to, and filter based on that custom property. 2 - Create 2 UnDP's, add the servers for one department to one and the servers for another department to the other and filter based on the custom poller.
-
Okay, playing around I changed the variables to ${Date} ${Time}, and they get sent out just like that - short format. Strange. Aaron

It would seem that Report Writer might be due for a makeover similar to what happened with MapMaker. I agree. I'm fighting with one report right now. Time to start my own thread...

I'm in the same boat. Just upgraded from 11.0.1 to 11.5 yesterday, came in this morning to see a few nodes down and zero alerts were triggered. Now, I don't have 500 alerts, but of my 46 I'm not sure how many are actually working. I'm going through them slowly, but even when I finish the wizard and it says This alert would…

This was pretty easy. Go find the default Solarwinds.Logo.jpg file and rename it with a (for example) .old extension. The place your image above in that same default folder and change it's name to Solarwinds.Logo.jpg. Default location is //server/NetPerfMon/images/ It actually looks pretty cool there. ;-) That is the easy…
