  • I would buy and iPhone, but we are also a Telus dealer, so I am stuck with a Telus phone for work use. And in our rural area the Telus CDMA coverage far exceeds the Rogers GSM coverage. ;-) The iPhone does look like a lot of fun, but the Storm does have some apps slowly coming out that make it a little more fun. haha
  • This is fixed. After deleting and adding the nodes a couple of times, and a few reboots in between, the interfaces are all showing their proper status. When adding the nodes again after deleting them, it was different interfaces that showed unknown status. Finally everything is back to normal. I did not do the firmware…
  • Last one. Here is the table I get when I run the query about which pollers are assigned to the node. And I get the proper value for the voltage. Now my brain hurts more...
  • Damnit!! I thought I got rid of that period. I am keeping notes on what I try and how it is acting, I must have copied the wrong one from my notes. Anyway, I just tried yours again, but with Raw type, and I get the query text for the voltage and capacity, frequency shows no value. I changed them back to Rate (voltage and…
  • Try with both your qeury and Euphorik's? Why not I guess. Lot's of time today. I will write my findings shortly. Thanks.
  • Yup, that is where I get my variables from too. The entry in question is the DateTime variable. While the documention says it should be in "Windows control panel defined "Short Date" and "Short Time" format", when the messages are generated they show up in Long format as mentioned above. That said, I am running 8.5.1,…
  • Bump... Anybody? I can't imagine everyone is displaying BOTH the original Poller values and the Transform values??? I guess I will start a trouble ticket...
  • Is Windows Live work related? haha We use an Allot NetEnforcer - not as easy to set up in terms of selecting no adult content, etc, but I can block URLs that contains cetain tags, hosts, etc. But I need to know the URL first - usually given to me by their managers. haha And you're right, it does tick off the users, but…
  • Resolution on this notebook is 1920x1200. What a tool - just logged in to my office desktop and it seems fine there with FF. Not sure what's up here. Should have checked that first. Sorry.
  • Thanks for the reply. Currently I have: Node Name > None Total Bytes Recv+Xmit > Descending The regular report will sort by the bytes but the web page sorts by the Node Name. I will do more browsing through the Formatting and Grouping tabs. Thanks again. Aaron
  • What I would like to do that I cannot do is to filter the "last XX events"...I'm not interested in an interface changing speed, but I would like it if my up/downs were not buried in an avalanche of less critical information. I second this. I have tried before, all I was able to do is create a report that does this, and the…
  • It looks like a combination of CPU and RAM - the hardware can only handle a max of 8 GB RAM. I don't think disk access times are an issue. When you mention RAID to handle the NAT load, would that be on the poller/web server, or the SQL server? Thanks.
  • Damn. Thanks. I guess I will try to work this another way. Thanks.
  • Having the alert trigger when all 3 nodes are down is what I am going for here. Sorry, should have mentioned that.
  • I have had similar issues - replace a Cisco switch with an Extreme switch, etc. Generally what I do is delete the old interfaces that show unknown status, rediscover, and then list resources again.
  • 0% Palm- ouch Some Blackberry Info: Our ITS department just upgraded the whole team to Blackberry Storms (Verizon gave us excellent price, cheaper than other models). Many of the Alerts that are generated by third party products usually ends up being unreadable on Storms. At least that's what our team has seen. We had to…
  • Now go to View By Device Type in the left hand menu. You will see a list of all the node and interface types that exist in your database. So, if you have, say, a Dell server, you will see that machine type in the Node listing. Simply select the view (if you have already configured one) that you want to use for a Dell…
  • Okay, here's an update. I followed the steps provided in that tutorial. Things did not work out the way they did there - I actually tried both ways including the detach/attach method but as he says if they are not "compatible" it won't work. Anyway, I tried a couple different variations of the first way (using Microsoft…
  • Okay. Looks like fun. I will work on that tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks. Aaron
  • Yes, I understand there could be similar y-axis scales from one interface to another. I have no issue with that as it makes sense. What doesn't make sense is the two y-axis units shown above in the screenshot. Look closely. Why does a chart for Percent Utilization have Kbps as the unit, and the same scale as the chart…
  • I love the embedded video views!! This gives me a great idea for our remote tower sites.
  • How has everyone gotten rid of the doodoo yellow color on the resource headers? The blue looks sooooo much better.
  • Zach, you are my hero!! That worked perfectly. Thanks so much. Now, I have to wonder, what changed? I have 8 alerts running this same query - 4 of them run it 3 times, and 4 of then run it 4 times, all to produce the UPS values I want in my alerts. And these have been running fine the way they were for 4+ years. So,…
  • Uuuuhhhh... that sounds like you think I know a little about SQL or .NET stuff. :-| I wish I knew more. I'll try to find some info on that... Thanks.
  • Currently we do not have any wireless gear here - while our larger networks consist of licensed microwave links to remote tower sites, our office networks are relatively small. We have discussed Cisco but nothing is implemented yet.
  • You're right about that. Any time I view the Average Response Time and Packet Loss resource where a value is shown for 95th Percentile % Packet Loss, the value given is in "ms". I can easily, and reliably reproduce this.
  • As per the direction of Support, I had to uninstall 3.6, restore the entire DB (not just the NTA parts), and run the config wizard for 3.5 again. Disappointing to lose the data from the few days while I was waiting to learn how to downgrade. I suppose that will teach me for doing an update directly to our production…
  • I have used suppression before. That would cut down on the number of alerts to build, but I would still have to do one for a set of Nodes behind, for example, a switch, then one for the switch which can be in another group of Nodes behind a router.... and so on and so forth... to infinity and beyond. What I think would be…
  • Aaahhhh.... figures. That's the thing - I started drawing out a way to do this yesterday, and like you said, I almost have to do one alert for each device. I really don't fee like working through that right now. haha Thanks for the info.
  • Is your polling server showing any serious load on the CPU/Memory (although I would expect CPU if either)? Your hardware for your SQL server is much better than the one we have here and we monitor many more nodes (~7500) and have NTA, but our load times sound a bit better in general. For your NTA, that might be about…
