we monitor for both availability and reachable because like it says you can have one but not the other so your not at 100%

We use SCCM and Cloning software to build and rebuild servers and a ticketing system to do the monitoring if we notice its not monitored we just add it ourselves. and i wish we had a decommissioning process.

i agree with u1976turn and that most of my questions are things i haven't seen yet or already answered going hmmm wonder if this is on Thwack!. and thanks arjantim will have to look at some of those books just to learn as much as possible about storage and network managment.

Thwack is a great place to get new avenues to look down or just get general help if your stumped and like me everyone's been really helpful because this is the first time i've ever used Solarwinds and the entire board has helped out and dealt with all my dumb and very new to the world questions.

Jfrazier that is what we do try to lock down as much as possible. it works for the most part that and if our security team sees you with a device that's not on your property pass it gets taken until you leave for the day and they will walk you out to your car and then hand it to you..

Agree with Webbster dont know alot about VM or Storage but wanting to get into that realm just to have that up my sleeve as a "we need help with" and kinda step in like superman and be like i can do that.

What are the metrics that matter to you?uptime, downtime, apps outage,…

-
Are you measuring end-user experience on mobile devices? No but the way technology is going we will sooner than later Do you feel mobile application performance monitoring is a different discipline than web performance monitoring? yes due the the changes that are a constant. usually we see something at a conference or a new product that comes out and we as engineers will read up about it and if it seems like it can help we will do a free demo of it for a few weeks to see how things are with it. if it seems it will work our manager well do all the monetary things and take it up the chain..…
