  • When the response time is 1000+ ms have you tried pinging the node from a command prompt on the Orion server? I'm wondering if this is an Orion thing, or a network thing. The only time I've ever see anything like this was from a routing loop.
  • A similar trick can be used to stop monitoring a volume through Manage Nodes. I know that doesn't help with selecting new volumes, but it's another step in the right direction. Keep us posted on support's findings. I'm very curious to hear what both the cause of the issue and resolution are.
  • * We faced split brain situations Split Brain avoidance with 100% accuracy using an even number of members is essentially an impossible feat. You can get close, but there will always be some rare and unusual circumstances that will occur where both members of the cluster think they're master. For that reason we took a…
  • This is a known issue with WIndows 2008 R2 which can be resolved with the application of the following hotfix from Microsoft. This hotfix should be applied to both active and passive members of the cluster pool. * Download Update for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition (KB980368) from Official Microsoft Download Center
  • If it helps make your life easier, this information is also available as Windows Performance Counters that can be monitored by SAM and reported upon using the Web Based Report Writer.
  • Thanks for reporting this issue. I have logged this as a bug internally under HA-1246.

  • Is the node managed via the agent? You will need to edit the node and change the polling method from ICMP, SNMP, or WMI, to Agent if you haven't done so already.
  • These are all good, valid points that I'll try to address, but I agree that it would probably be best to speak to a sales person to fully understand the broad spectrum of product offerings we have and which areas they focus on. NPM has been around for quite a while, well before any of the other Orion modules. As modules…
  • natem50, I just emailed you directly. We're look forward to receiving those MIB walks from your IBM Servers.
  • tdvojmoc, I emailed you directly as well. I look forward to receiving your MIB walks. We could still use quite a few more MIB walks. IBM Servers especially. If you have IBM xSeries servers we'd really appreciate your participation. In the meantime, keep those Dell & HP MIB walks coming. The more server hardware variations,…
  • The issue referenced here and tracked internally under case FB272478 was fixed in the SAM 6.0.1 Service Release. The latest version of SAM (6.2.2 at the time of this post) also includes this fix.

  • If you're spinning up a new APE, regardless if it's 2016.2 or 2017.1 HFx, you should always verify the hotfix level applied to the APE through Add/Remove Programs. If it doesn't show up there, then it hasn't been applied and should be manually installed no differently than it was on the main poller.
  • Are you currently using SOAP/JSON monitoring in SiteScope? Is this what you mean by website/web services monitoring? On another note, SeUM just underwent a very aggressive price restructuring. It's now significantly cheaper and more inline with the rest of the Orion products pricing tiers. Pricing wise, SeUM should now be…
  • Mark, I really appreciate your quick replies but I think you may have overlooked something here. I'm not even at the point where I can define a custom poller for this device because I can't even add the node into Orion to manage it. Whenever I try to add the node from within System Manager I get the error in the screenshot…
  • In this case it sounds as though your vulnerability scanner was run against the Orion web interface itself. Forcibly disabling everything other than TLS 1.2 will likely cause issues with other aspects of the product, such as the information service. NPM is equally affected by this .NET 4.0 limitation which will be…
  • From the Agent mass deployment page [Settings -> All Settings -> Agent Settings -> Download Agent Software -> Mass Deploy to Multiple Machines (e.g. Group Policy)] you can download the MST file which serves as an automated answer file for the MSI based on settings defined on this screen. This allows you to deploy the Agent…
  • skerley, we have been able to reproduce this issue in our lab and are currently tracking this as a bug under FB113229.
  • Almost forgot, a great way of testing an alert under real-world conditions to see if the trigger actions are defined properly would be to define the trigger condition to something known to be true. In your case you could configure the response time for "equal to or greater than 0" zero. This should force the alert to…
  • That sounds like a good idea. Please post the results/findings of your case here once it's closed. They may be beneficial to other members of the community. Thanks!
  • vinay.by wrote: This is a nice question, its better to check with aLTeReGo . Hi aLTeReGo - is SolarWinds using the same licensing technique ? if I have a NPM SL2000 and I buy a SAM 4000, does that mean i can add upto 24000 nodes ? Or is it only concerned with the number of nodes on which i can deploy my templates on ?…
  • Also, while it doesn't support as many nested levels as your example, the "All Applications" resource could be used to accomplish something very similar to your original posted example using Custom Properties.
  • Upgrade procedures are covered in the Administrators Guide. * Upgrading SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
  • Correct. Disk I/O information simply isn't available via SNMP. As such it's only available as an option for WMI managed nodes. There really are no implications for changing 50+ nodes beyond the loss of historical data for interfaces and volumes. This is because there's no reliable method of mapping SNMP volume and…
  • Create a file called 'driver.ini' that configures the agent settings. For example. 2 IPaddress 4 admin 7 Then pipe your answer file into the agent init command. E.G. 'cat /opt/SolarWinds/Agent/bin/driver.ini | service swiagentd init'
  • My recommendation would be to use Custom Properties instead of Groups. Custom Properties should satisfy your requirements for custom reporting and can also be used within alerts.
  • This is already possible today. https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Run-the-SolarWinds-Orion-Installer-in-the-silent-mode https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Install-Orion-products-in-unattended-or-silent-mode
  • What you're looking for is the trigger "Reset Actions". Here you can define any action you'd like executed when the Trigger Condition is no longer true.
