The "Test Email" is not going to work because there is not event to send. Step #1: Configuring the SAM Component monitor through the Orion web interface for the Event ID's you want SAM to watch for. This will change the status of this component (and associated application) when a match is found. That will be your visual…

We are aware of some issues monitoring storage subsystem information for VMWare ESX v5.x hosts. This is due to some significant changes in how this information is made available compared to v4.x. We're already tracking this issue internally under FB182147. As a point of comparison you can see in the screenshot below how…

I've been working with support extensively on this problem and I'm currently testing a potential fix. It's been 48 hours and so far so good. If you're having the same problem I suggest contacting support and referencing the ticket number I mentioned above.

They will most likely be included in the next release of the Orion Platform.

Please check the default Website and ensure the "Zero_Config" certificate is selected. It may be that an invalid, non-existent or expired certificate is assigned to the site's HTTPS binding.
-
At this point you've successfully eliminated all the most common issues. The answers likely lie within the log files themselves. My recommendation would be to open a case with support so they can review those logs and determine the root cause.

I recommend posting this as a Server & Application Monitor Feature Requests This will allow the entire Thwack community to vote on this idea.

Understood, but when editing the node what happens when you click the following 'test' button after populating the optional SNMP credentials for the Agent managed node?
-
I guess by fixed we'd need to know what you mean exactly. The OWA Form Login template that's included with APM 4.2 still does not work with OWA 2010. However, there is a PowerShell script provided above you can download and use that will also be included in the next version of APM that works with OWA 2010.

This seems like a great idea worthy of posting in the Server & Application Monitor Feature Requests section. This will allow other members of the community to vote on the idea. In the meantime however, if you have a Linux machine running in your environment, you can easily reuse your existing Nagios script natively using…

Here is an example advanced alert based on a custom mib poller.

Application and OS monitoriing technologies are largely unrelated. While some applications may have components which can be monitored via WMI, SAM includes ~50 component monitor types which rely upon a variety of different protocols such as HTTP/S, WinRM, RPC, FTP, POP3, IMAP, SOAP, etc. So how you decide to monitor the…

SAM 6.2.3 is available in your Customer Portal. You can try upgrading to resolve the issue or verifying you have both 32 and 64bit versions of the VC++ Runtime shown below.
-
How many elements are you monitoring?

CIM is used only when polling the ESX host directly using 'root' level credentials. CIM is updated far more frequently than the VMware API. Based on my own personal experience it also tends to be more accurate. There are several incidents in the past where I've found the VMware API still reporting a hardware fault that was…

Below is an example of a custom property working in both the "To:" and "CC:" Fields of the Advanced Alert Manager in SAM 6.1.

I'm not sure to whom or what exactly you are referencing. I am a Product Manager at SolarWinds and not a customer, so I did not open a case in March of 2013. I can state that the problem you describe was resolved in the SAM 6.2 release, but as far as "proof" the screenshot shown above is the best I have.
-
WinRM is separate from WMI. While WMI functions natively without additional configuration, WinRM does require additional configuration before it will operate properly.
-
The case I opened with Solarwinds hasn't gotten very far. They're saying it could be a TLS/SSL protocol compatibility issue (not sure how that would be). According to them, SAM 6.2.x only supports TLS 1.0 or SSL (no specific version indicated). To my knowledge this would have no bearing on List Resources ability to detect…

Please check again. The portal provisioning process can take a little while. I will also say that 6.2.4 RC3 are the final GA/RTM bits, so even if you download from the RC link, there is zero difference from the GA version beyond the filename.
-
if I were to set up a IPSec VPN tunnel between the networks then I should be able to use WMI across the firewalls, right? Correct, provided the VPN did not include NAT or firewall policies/ACLs restricting WMI access.

Very good. Once you've signed up you can direct message me and I'll expedite getting you the bits.

Is your Orion server in the same Domain as your AD user account you attempted to use to impersonate? Can you use those same credentials to Remote Desktop into the Orion server itself? Do you own SAM? If so, have you tried testing this script via SAM's PowerShell script monitor just as a point of comparison?
-
Login to the Orion server itself using the account you've defined the service to run under. E.G. the same account you want the PowerShell script to execute in the context of. Open a 32bit PowerShell window and run the script. Does it work? Another option is to run the script and debug output to a file. E.G "Add-PSSnapin…

My apologies allanseyberth. You are correct. You can do SQL query based reports in the Web Based Report Writer. And no, this functionality is not going away. I simply misspoke in my previous post. Thank you for correcting me.

I do not have Cirrus, but would like to see the device configs from ORION 8.5. Either press a button on the node details screen to view either the running or the start-up config, or a fly open window that would allow you to browse your TFTP Directory. Does anyone have any ideas on how best to view device configs from ORION…

Orphaned Jobs are just want the name suggests. These a jobs that were scheduled to run, but due to a crash, power failure, or some other unexpected event the job was never able to execute.
-
It appears you are not monitoring the volumes on that server. Oddly none of the databases in this screenshot are in a warning or critical state. Is the database you're having trouble with on the 2nd page?
-
That error is returned by the Oracle driver itself, not by SAM. I would recommend uninstalling the Oracle client and use the Microsoft .NET Data Provider that can be downloaded from your Customer Portal

This template is not included in SAM 5.0.1 so support will only be able to provide limited assistance. This template is however included with the SAM 5.2 beta. If you'd like to signup and participate in the SAM 5.2 beta we can work with you to troubleshoot the issue through the normal beta process. If you're able to…
