Have you tried running "lodctr /r" on the SQL Server to rebuilt the performance counters?
-
Mike, I just looked over the case. Please keep us posted if the upgrade to NPM 10.3 resolves the issue. In the meantime I've asked one of our escalations engineers to review your case.
-
This issue should be resolved in the SAM 6.3 release currently in beta.
-
mdriskell, your issue is likely unrelated and may be resolved by applying the following Microsoft hotfix to your monitored servers. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981314

Support has a fix. Andy, can you tell me what exactly this fix resolves? Would this fix apply to my original topic post?
-
If the Orion server and DHCP server are on the same subnet try using the Broadcast method. If that still doesn't work I would recommend opening a case with support.

The issue I described above is with VMware's API, not with SAM. SAM should be returning/displaying the status as it is being reported by VMware's API. The issue is that VMware's API is misreporting the status. You can work with SolarWinds support who should be able to walk you through the VMware API to verify if this is…

Yes, the hotfix is applicable to all SAM 6.2 installations. If you upgraded from SAM 6.2 RC1 then there are couple of additional steps that must be followed.

Are you working with support to find the root cause of this error? You seem to have narrowed it down to a specific application template. Is this an application template we ship with the product or one you created? What types of components make up this template? Can you manually test each component monitor in the template…

Thanks for following up. Average Document Indexing Time was removed for new installs of SAM, but it remains for existing installs since we did not want to impact the overwhelming majority of users that it does work for. Support can however help you with the removal of this component now that you're running SAM 6.2.1.

Based on the findings of support, the issue is not that APM is unable to monitor the WMI objects, but rather that the WMI objects are missing on the remote host. Unfortunately the reason why these WMI objects are disappearing is unknown. I've included a link to our WMI troubleshooting guide that may help to resolve the…

SNMP and WMI use different discovery mechanisms. It's possible that SNMP isn't properly identifying your SQL instance names and port information, but the WMI method is. This is one of the rare circumstances where manual AppInsight application assignment is used. Provided you enter the proper information in the fields…

I'm currently having problems filtering the 100's of messages that come back as Link Up and Link Down traps. It's very annoying on a network of 3000 users. I've tried a filter rule with the Syslog Message Pattern of "*Link Up Trap*, *Link Down Trap*, *changed state to up*, *changed state to down* What am I doing wrong? If…

This unfortunately remains an outstanding issue due to a character buffer limitation of the command line in HP-UX. Scripts greater than the character command line buffer limit will fail due to the keyboard buffer overflow. We have proposed solutions to this problem currently on the road map, such as using SCP to transfer…

Anything new on this bug fix? It's not so much a bug fix, but more of a whole new version of APM which is currently in beta. That means there's substantial time taken to QA the product before general availability to ensure the product functions correctly and reliably.

Ditto.. I'm also seeing this same behavior. Real shame honestly. That was pretty much the whole point of this view and now it's broken.

Thank you for sharing soccsupport. Your tireless efforts and excellent account of these events will assuredly help others in the community. It's very much appreciated.

Hardware Health information is collected with each poll. This includes adding any new items that are found, and removing any old items that no longer exist. There is a known bug in the VMWare's vCenter API that does not properly update this information when some items are removed from the ESX hosts. The best known…

The Hotfix adatole is referring to is SAM 6.2 hotfix 1, available at the link below. * SAM v6.2 Hot Fix 1 is now available

How is the PowerShell component configured? You will likely need to use local execution mode with impersonation for this script to function properly. It's my guess that you are not using impersonation and the script is being executed under the 'Local System' account which has very limited permissions to execute PowerShell…

Rebooting the monitored server resolved the error "The message that I receive is "Value was either too large or too small for a UInt64" for me. Not sure what exactly the problem was, but restarting the SNMP service alone was not good enough to fix the problem. Running APM 3.0.

As for gaps, I've finally capitulated and am moving my remote poller 1200 miles (36ms) to the west, to keep my DB server happy. This is not ideal, as the remote poller is in the same Data Center as all the users connect to. I will no longer have a true picture of user (application) latency to all the sites across Canada,…

Indeed there is. AppInsight for Exchange requires that all members of the DAG be monitored for proper operation. The Hub Transport servers must also be accessible, though no specific configuration is necessary for those hosts.

It's doubtful that re-running SAM Configuration Wizard will correct the issue, but it can't hurt to try. Since this is an agent managed node you may want to try uninstalling and re-installing the agent. While I have no reason to believe that will resolve the issue, it's the technical equivalent of jiggling the handle.

Based solely on what you've provided hear this looks on the surface to be an authentication issue, possibly with the domain controller. This may be unlikely the real cause of the issue, but rather symptoms of another issue entirely. It's also possible that you've reached some limit for maximum number of WMI…

AppInsight for SQL does not gather its information via SNMP or really WMI. More than 95% of the information collected for AppInsight for SQL is gathered via native SQL queries.

This is a known issue with Windows 2008 R2 that is addressed with the following hotfix. If you are seeing this same issue with non-Win2k8R2 systems please let me know. * You cannot query the Server Work Queues performance counter by using WMI in Windows Server 2008 R2

shocko, what is your support case number?

I love that picture I'm honestly not trying to be a pain in the a** but what happened to linking to external images or using the content sharing zone? Maybe I'm missing something but It seems as though both of those methods were more flexible then attaching an image. How can I embed an image so it pertains to the context…
