Component names are tied to the template from which they came. It is not currently possible to name a component differently than the template from which it came. You would instead need to copy the original template, rename the components as you see fit, then assign it to the node you wish to monitor.

Is it safe to assume the node that's giving you issues is running *nix?

See the thread located here...

Rename the components within the template to reflect the application or purpose of the this TCP port monitor. This will then be reflected within the alert notification you receive.

Disk I/O information isn't available via SNMP in Windows Server 2003. If you want to collect Disk I/O information via SNMP from your Windows servers you'll need to use a 3rd party add-on called SNMP Informant. The free version will provide you with what you're looking for.

The upgrade went very smoothly. No complaints here. I took one from 9.1 SP1 to SP2 and another 9.1 with no service pack up to SP2, skipping SP1 and both upgrades were uneventful.

The recommended method is to monitor the w3wp.exe process with the app pool name defined in the command line filter as referenced in this thread ->

When you edit the application by clicking the "Edit Application Monitor" link in the top right of the SQL server application you are viewing, you can define the threshold for "Deadlocks/sec". When that threshold is exceeded, the default out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" alert.

Everyone is in the same position you are. Support is terribly backed up helping other customers roll out Orion 8. I had to wait over a month to get a call back on my case. See this posting for more details. http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3053 I'm sure someone will contact you when your case…

What type of node are you trying to use the Real-Time Process Explorer with?

Something like? ${ComponentName} of ${ApplicationName} on server ${NodeName} is currently ${ComponentStatus}Component Message: ${ComponentMessage}Component Response Time: ${ResponseTime}Description: ${UserDescription}${WindowsEventMessages}

That's no fun at all! Out of curiosity, how is the node managed in Orion and what operating system is it running?

It's unlikely installing the IBM Director Agent on the ESXi host net you any additional hardware details. What specifically are you not seeing that you should? How are you polling the ESXi host? Directly or through a vCenter? A screenshot may be beneficial.

The following Nagios scripts might help get you started. You should be able to add these as Nagios Script Component monitors in APM http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Plugins/System-Metrics/File-System/NFS

You could also use this report I whipped up that will show all nodes that have been down in the last four hours.

Adding a component to monitor the MySQL process itself is fairly straightforward. Simply launch the Real-Time Process Explorer from the Application or Node Details view of the server running MySQL. Next, click the "Start Monitoring" button next to the "mysqld" process you wish to monitor, then walk through the wizard to…

How and where are you modifying these custom properties? Are you editing an existing Custom Property, or creating new ones?

The HP DL180 G6 is indeed supported. The most common reason why hardware health is not listed as an option for monitoring on servers is that the required vendor supplied agent software is outdated, or not installed. You can find links to the latest versions of your vendors hardware agent software at the link below. For HP…

1. Can I clear out the mailbox without causing issues? Yes, these emails can be safely deleted. Email messages are unique to each poll, so a new message will be sent at the next polling interval. 2. What could be causing the monitor to not delete the messages from the server? If the messages aren't being deleted then it's…

The number of retry attempts for SAM component monitors are not configurable, though this is would make an excellent feature request.

The .NET version running on your scalability engines must match the version running on the main poller. If you have .NET 4.7.2 running on your main poller, you must also have .NET 4.7.2 running on your scalability engines.

You should be able to easily reorder components by clicking the up/down arrows next to each component within the application editor

You are correct that clicking on a database should take you to the Database Details view. What you're seeing is a very rare bug that is fixed in SAM 6.2.1, which is due out shortly and tracked internally under SAM-477. In the meantime you can fix the problem on your own by going to [Settings -> Manage Views] and delete the…

Based on the screenshots you provided, I concur that it appears SAM is not properly reporting the status of your Dell power supply. Please verify WMI reports the proper Power Supply Status using WMI Explorer by looking at the Root\CIMv2\Dell name space, querying "CIM_PowerSupply" as shown below. If WMI is properly…

APM v1.0 cannot monitor the message queue, and I can't really think of any way APM could help tell you that your Exchange server is having difficulty connecting to the network. Not unless your Orion server is connecting to your Exchange server through the Internet.

The Windows Event Log Monitor in SAM 5.5, previous versions of SAM as well as APM changes its status to "Down" when an event matching the criteria defined with in the component monitor is found.
