SAM does support PPK authentication. The following sections of the AG should get you pointed in the right direction, though you may find manual assignment of application templates to nodes works better with certificate based authentication. * Adding a Certificate to the Library * Assigning Certificate Credentials

Are you wanting to monitor C.L.A.M. AV on Windows, or Linux/BSD? If you're looking to monitor the latter, you may be able to use SAM's Nagios Script monitor with the following Nagios Plugins available in the Nagios Exchange. * Clamscan Monitoring Plugin - Nagios Exchange * ClamAV check plugin - Nagios Exchange *…

There is no ability to specify a failover partner in the SQL User Experience Monitor. You do however have visibility into database mirrors using AppInsight for SQL in SAM 6.x.

[Settings -> SAM Settings -> Manage Templates -> Import/Export -> Import]

Have you tried editing the application and clicking the "Configure Server" button? Cumalitive Updates reset certain settings back to their defaults which prevents polling. You will need to re-configure the server as stated above to resume polling of this server again.
-
There have been limited reports that the installation of a Cumulative Update to the monitored Exchange server resets the PowerShell WinRM settings. I recommend editing the application and clicking the "Configure Server" button to see if that resolves the issue.

Including the full details of the Windows Event Log Message as part of an alert notification is a feature that's been included in the latest SAM 5.2 beta. If you're an existing APM/SAM customer under active maintenance you can sign-up here to participate in the beta. We'd love to get your feedback on this feature. To learn…

ow what I need is to set an alert from Solarwinds such that the alert contains the Description of the event. This is not currently possible using the Windows Event Log Monitor. We're currently tracking this as a feature request internally under FB55680. As a possible workaround you can use the Event Log Forwarder for…

What alert are you using to notify you that a failover condition occured? The default out-of-the-box "AppInsight for Exchange: Warn me when database failover occurs" alert functions off the last failover timestamp value returned by Exchange. If that value is different from the value from the previous poll the alert is…

Are you monitoring the volumes on your ESX host via SNMP as pictured here for this node?
-
Unfortunately an alert like this can't be written natively with the Advanced Alert Manager because each alert must be tied to only a single object ID. This is what determines where the hyperlink goes when you click on the alert in the Orion web interface. In your case, with multiple nodes specified in the trigger…

You can run a one-time Network Sonar discovery against your existing nodes to "re-import" them. This will not effect anything currently monitored, but Asset Inventory will be enabled on all hosts it's applicable to during the import process.
-
Yup. I had the same problem with RedHat Enterprise. Turns out you need to download a new SNMP RPM from RedHat to fix the issue

Hardware summary status macros are available under the APM:Hardware trigger condition category. Below are some examples of macros that are available. ${HardwareStatusDescription} ${Manufacturer} ${HardwareName} ${HardwareStatus} ${ServiceTag}

It sounds like the script it running as expected, which makes me think the script is not ending with the appropriate exit code that lets SAM know the script has finished running.
-
Not at this time, though resources are intelligent enough to automatically hide if they're not applicable to that particular component monitor type.
-
Currently this value is hard coded and not changeable in APM. I'm tracking this internally as a feature request under FB86201

Probably the easiest way to learn any SolarWinds product is through the "Training Videos" link shown for each product's respective forum here on Thwack.

Michal is correct. This is currently being tracked internally as FB89195.

What I believe you are looking for is "NOC View" included as a new feature in SAM 6.1, currently in beta. For those of you that have your SAM console up on the big screen, 6.1 also introduces a special "NOC Mode" that removes the top tabs and cycles through subviews. Since NOC screens tend to have a lot of real estate,…

Is this case still outstanding? I can't find your case number in our system. Can you double check the number and post it again if you're still having issues?

SeUM includes the Cloud Instance sizing calculator which is based on our own internal testing and best practices. However it's difficult to make gross approximations since not all transactions are created equal, and no two transactions are the same. The number of steps in a given transaction, the technologies being used on…

Are you using the 3560 as a switch or a router? In other words is the 3560 routing traffic or just switching it? If the expense of adding a router that supports NetFlow to your configuration isn't of any concern to you then that would work. You'd want to stop routing on your 3560 and have that handled by your new NetFlow…

I would recommend making an application template for each drive letter as the instance name is based upon "c:", "d:", "e:", etc. You can then use the application discovery wizard to apply each template accordingly to your servers that have these drive letters. Obviously they'll all have the "c:" drive application template…

You can use the new "Multiple Statistic Chart" in the "Custom Object Resource" using the following settings as an example. The end result should look something similar to the following, as seen on my summary view.
-
The values collected by script monitors in SAM are returned as statistics, not percentages. So any chart that shows the value, such as the one on the Component Details view, should show the resulting integer value from the script current and historical.
-
This can be accomplished today by defining the "Do not trigger this action until condition exists for more than" option, as shown below.
-
What method are you using to "cap" the bandwidth at 10Mbps?
-
Yes. SeUM uses the same Microsoft SQL database server as all other Orion products.
-
AppInsight for SQL does not support Analysis Services, which is typically a server separate from the SQL database server itself. AppInsight for SQL supports the monitor of the SQL Database server only. The following templates should be used instead for monitoring SQL Analysis Services. SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services SQL…
