You can't disable the discovery of AppInsight applications but there's no requirement to select them for monitoring once they've been discovered. In fact, if you have a recurring nightly/weekly Network Sonar Discovery scan you can select the AppInsight application you don't wish to monitor and add them to the "ignore…

I would recommend either using the default out-of-the-box "Restart a service" alert action in the Advanced Alert Manager to automatically restart this service for you, or disabling this component within the assigned application if it's not an important service to monitor in your environment.
-
It's likely that unmanaging and remanaging is simply exposing another underlying issue. How many component monitors are you currently monitoring on your Orion server?
-
SAM's Windows Event Log Monitor does not allow multiple Event Log Sources, partial source names, or wildcard matching within the event log source name field. You must specify the complete Log Source within the Windows Event Log Monitor. If there are multiple potential log sources you should create additional Event Log…

I believe the issue you're encountering is related to the Windows Integrated pass-through authentication. This has been documented in the following KB article. I recommend logging into your machine using a local (non-domain) credentials when creating the recording. An alternative is also provided in the KB below.…

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Orion needs to be monitoring each Physical and/or virtual (SVI) interface that you have configured to export Netflow information for. For example, each interface that has " ip flow ingress" configured. Could this be your problem?
-
Both members of the pool appear to be down. This would suggest what services are stopped on both members or that there is a connectivity loss between both members and the main Orion server. To troubleshoot this issue further I would suggest opening a case with support.

The changes you made under the "Advanced" section are likely not taking effect within templated editor when clicking "Test". That's just a theory. You may want to change the "Platform to run polling job on" to "x86" and then save the template and view the resulting output from the polling job.
-
The following template might be a good starting point. Template (Concept) for Commvault Backup Statistics
-
Does Orion support named instance's? If you're asking if you can run Orion on a named SQL instance the answer is yes.
-
Agreed, the process is somewhat laborious and otherwise time consuming, but not difficult. The alternatives are to utilize SNMP, continue using Administrative user accounts as Microsoft recommends even for SCOM, or utilize the new optional agent when it becomes available in the SAM 6.2 release (currently in beta).
-
You may be inventing the wheel afterall. It would be great if you shared your resulting application template in the Content Exchange when you're done. Sounds like this would be handy for other users running SharePoint.
-
You are seeing this occur once an hour because index fragmentation is not collected at the same 5 minute interval that performance/availability data is. The unknown state is likely the result of this polling failing to complete successfully, likely because it is running out of time. If that is the issue, you can resolve it…

We use NetBotz appliances in all of our server rooms. I have nothing but great things to say about them.
-
If you're wanting to save a PerfStack as a PDF, this functionality is native to most browsers and operating systems. We are however working on allowing users to export PerfStack data to Excel.
-
You'll need to edit the interfaces in the web interface. I.E. "Manage Nodes" in the all nodes resource
-
utildayael, have you upgraded to SAM 6.1.1 yet? If you haven't I would strongly recommend starting there and see if that resolves the issue.
-
How are the nodes managed in Orion? Are they SNMP or WMI nodes? If they are WMI managed nodes and are working, you should be able to just inherit the node credentials for monitoring the application.
-
You can't change the status of the Linux/Unix script monitor in this way, but you can create your own Windows/PowerShell script monitor that runs locally on the Orion server against that server and have it return any status you wish.
-
You could have APM restart the service but it would always be in a state of alarm and you couldn't define when it would recycle the service, only the interval. I.E. you could say every 12 hours for instance, but not at 3am every day. In the end I would recommend using the Windows Task Scheduler to restart the service and…
-
It sounds like you're experiencing the same or similar issue as outlined in the KB article available at the link below. This problem is usually caused by Antivirus software causing file locks. I would suggest following the steps in the KB article on the host where the agent is installed. It's written specific to the Orion…

The "Exchange 2007-2010 Client Access Role Services and Counters (Basic)" Template monitors the critical processes/services and performance counters specific to the CAS role of a Microsoft Exchange Server. Should there be a failure of any of these components you will receive a notification. The "Exchange 20xx Client Access…

This is a known issue which was recently reported. We are tracking this internally under case 'CORE-8238'. Please open a support case and reference this number and this Thwack thread. We may have a fix available which addresses this specific issue.
-
You have a wide variety of options available to you. 1. You can remove the warning/critical thresholds for Index Fragmentation on this specific database. 2. You can exclude indexes smaller than a particular size from being monitored 5. You can disable the collection of index fragmentation 4. Or you can unmanage the…

It may help to provide links to the templates your referencing since these templates are relatively new.
-
Windows Performance Counters use RPC for communication which runs over TCP port 445. Once you add this rule to the firewall these components should come up.
-
Thanks mdriskell for reporting this issue. I'll have one of our developers look to see if we can improve how we're handing the temp file so others who might be monitoring multiple files on a singe system don't also encounter this issue. I've logged this as a bug under FB116252.
-
This should be available out-of-the-box in the Internet Information Services and Counters (IIS) template included with SAM. This metric on an individual per-site bases, as well as the server as a whole are included in AppInsight for IIS, which is part of SAM 6.2 currently in beta.

I'm not very familiar with HP's Quality Center but what is it that you're trying to monitor on it? Are you looking for an application template to monitor HP's Quality Center to ensure it's running properly or are you trying to visualize information collected by HP's Quality Center through the APM web interface?
