Local Administrator accounts are always preferred over Domain Admin accounts because they are exempt from domain policies which can sometimes be overly restrictive and cause installation issues. You can, of course, use a Domain Admin account to install. If you encounter issues, then try a local Admin account and see if…

If you're just wanting to monitor the processes themselves then all you need to do is monitor the host via SNMP (assuming it's a Linux/Unix host) and use the Real-Time Process Explorer and select the processes you'd like monitored.

Are you referring to the "Network Connections" service? Does this service show "stopped" in Windows Service Manager? If not, does the service show stopped in the SAM web console only for one poll, or is it stuck in this state forever? Does restarting this service on the monitored host resolve the issue?

Are you running APM on a 64bit version of Windows? Do you know if the PowerShell cmdlet is 64 or 32bit? There is a known issue in APM 4.x that prevents 64bit PowerShell extensions from executing properly. This problem has been resolved as part of the upcoming SAM 5.0 release.

I believe this is discussed in some detail in the following thread. Job Engine v2 Jobs Queued, value very high and not changing?

Neither of these are possible today natively, though regularly scheduled Network Sonar Discovery scans will notify you of newly added volumes which are not currently monitored by Orion. These however sound like some good ideas to post to the forum.

This information is available for WMI managed nodes through SAM's Asset Inventory.

This is a known issue with Windows 2008 R2 that Microsoft has addressed in the following hotfix. It's possible that a similar bug may exist in Windows 2003 as well but I would suggest contacting Microsoft Support to analyze the memory crash dump to determine the cause of the Remote Registry failure. * Memory leak in the…

dquerry, did Jason answer your question or were you referring to the node status indicator?

Have you read the following thread?

Did you happen to install any new service packs or cumalitive updates on the Exchange server? Have you tried editing the application and clicking the "Configure Server" button to see if that resolves the issue?

It's not possible to utilize statistics from multiple component monitors within a value conversion. The best/easiest method would be to monitor these volumes as part of the node using SNMP or WMI.

1) Index fragmentation - can I set some specific indexes/tables to ignore? - I think this is just wierd/stupid SQL math.... I have a table that has one row, four columns... I rebuild the index and it has 0% fragmentation, but within 5-10 minutes it shows 99.6%, still one row. It is SQL reporting it, so nothing SW can do…

Have you tried creating your own Windows Performance Counter Monitor or Custom Performance Monitor - WMI in SAM using the Component Monitor Wizard located under [Settings -> SAM Settings]?

Currently the Escalation Alert will include the latest information available for the disk, so if it has increased from the previous alert, that latest value will be included in the alert notification. However, there is not yet a concept of % Change for volumes in the Advanced Alert Manager, which could be used to provide…

You can force the components status based upon the exit code of the script, or you can drive status based upon the statistical integer value returned by the script. If you're driving status solely based upon the exit code of the script then the statistic returned can be completely arbitrary, so returning zero "0" for the…

The script is indeed good. What you appear to be lacking is good error handling. The "NaN" that you're receiving means "Not a Number". That means whatever is being returned is a string and not an integer. Since your script appears to work without issue on my machine, the problem is most likely with your WinRM…

You would edit the HTTP or HTTPS component monitor and enter the host header into the host header field highlighted in the screenshot below.
-
The easiest way to tell if APM is installed is if you see an "APPLICATIONS" tab next to "HOME", "NETWORK" and "VIRTUALIZATION" tabs in the top menu bar.
-
The application components monitored on that server will reflect a meaningful status such as "warning", "critical", "down", etc. so you will know when issues are occurring with your applications.

I would recommend starting with the following KBs https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Job-Engine-V2-Service-stops-immediately https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Reinstall-rebuild-Solarwinds-Job-Engine-v2…

I suggest using the SQL Management Studio to create a Database Maintenance Plan. * Use the Maintenance Plan Wizard .
-
The only way to do this today would be through a script monitor that always returns a passing/up status but collects performance information (CPU or Memory) about the process running as a statistic. The ability to monitor processes in a fashion similar to how NPM handles interfaces being unplugged instead of down is a…

In the Windows Syslog or SNMP Traps viewer application, create a new rule and define the matching criteria for the rule (IP address, message content, etc.) and add an action to 'Discard' the message.

1- How can I monitor a linux services like ftp, apache? I know I can monitor these ports but is there any other way to do it? SAM Includes an out-of-the-box application template for monitoring Apache web servers. You can also use the HTTP/HTTPS User Experience Monitors to monitor the web site for performance/latency and…

SAM 6.0 includes an all new Web Based Report Writer that allows you to create custom reports that include charts and graphs. There are also several new out-of-the-box reports that include some of these new graphical reporting capabilities. The "Top 5 nodes with highest average CPU utilization this week" report highlighted…

The File Existence Monitor does not use TCP Port 135 and 445. SAM's file monitors uses WMI, which run partly over TCP Port 135, in addition to any other random port greater than 1024.

Later releases use an updated version of a PDF library. Those later versions don't compress report images as aggressively to improve image quality and readability of complex reports.

You need to download and install the SolarWinds Windows Event Log Forwarder on the computers you wish to receive Windows Event Logs from. The SolarWinds Windows Event Log Forwarder should be available download for download in your customer portal account.
