What resource is this exactly? It looks like it might be SAM's 'All Applications' resource grouped by node.
-
Groups are not currently a filterable property available within the 'Manage Nodes' view. You could however achieve the desired result by using Custom Properties instead, as suggested by jvb.

The servers should be reachable directly, as well as through the load balanced VIP. I would recommend monitoring each of the IIS servers individually, then use the HTTP/HTTPS User Experience Monitor to monitor the VIP simply to ensure the load balancer is working properly.

Honestly that's pretty amazing. Out of curiosity, what was the alert action used to interact with Orchestrator? Can I assume it was "Execute an External Program or Script"?

Tighter integration with NPM. Device names and SNMP credentials are already stored there. Pull the routing tables via SNMP and make a list of networks, then a simple check-box for manage this subnet or don't would be nice. Much agreed. That would make the product more wizard driven and easier for first time setup Some kind…

The "Volume Utilization" check box functions solely as a "Select All"/"De-select All" option for ease of use when adding servers with a large number of volumes. You can even use it to"select all" and then un-check/de-select the volumes you don't wish to monitor. Whichever is easier, but it's simply for convenience. Hope…

Instead of using NotePager Pro, have you considered using PageGate? This may also be of assistance SMPP SMSC | NowSMS

1) When monitoring using the SQL application monitoring (SNMP), even though Initial Catalog is set to Master within the component, does the component actually check all of the databases within the instance? (Provided the account has access, of course) It does not. By default the SQL Server 2012 Performance (SQL) gathers…

SAM 6.2 (currently in beta) includes the ability to restart the site or the application pool as an alert action.

Run the following SQL query against the Orion database. It will clear out all the APs from the database and Orion will rediscover them. This procedure resolved the same issue you are experiencing when I stumbled upon it in early December. It's been working great ever since. UPDATE NPM_Nodes SET RowStatus=2 WHERE…

One method would be to include valuable/useful information in either the application component User Description or User Notes fields. This information can be template or node specific and passed in a generically configured alert using the ${UserNotes} or ${UserDescription} macros.
-
SAM's HTTP User Experience Monitor would be the best option. There is even an out-of-the-box application template that's available pre-configured for this purpose.
-
Only the first screenshot is from AppInsight for IIS. All others show fairly normal (and low) resource utilization for the component monitored in those applications. Without additional context and ultimately debug diagnostics it's very difficult to say for certain why you observed poor website performance when AppInsight…

Have you configured the Jboss server and enabled JMX?
-
Absolutely. For this you can manually configure a Windows Event Log Monitor, or if the event exists in the Event Log already, you can use the Real-Time Event Log Viewer to select the event, and "Start Monitoring" for future occurrences.

Orion Platform 2019.2 includes the ability to automatically delete these 'unknown' volumes. For more information, check the link below. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-204353#jive_content_id_Automatic_Removal_of_Unknown_Volumes

"List Resources" shows only what's available to be monitored, not what is monitored but no longer available. To remove obsolete volumes or interfaces from monitoring you can do so using "Manage Nodes" located under "Settings" .
-
Have you considered using custom properties instead? You can even create a custom property called "NotificationTeam" that is simply the email address of who should be notified. You can then use this custom property to dynamically populate the email address "To" or "CC" fields in the email alert action so the message is…

What are the credentials being used to execute the PowerShell script? E.G. What are the configured credentials in the component monitor? It sounds like you may not be using valid Windows credentials with adequate permissions on the Orion server to execute the PowerShell script.
-
You can also use Custom Properties to define the email address of the individual responsible for that system and use a single alert to route the notification to the appropriate person. Using Custom Properties sending Alert emails

What kind of integration are you looking to achieve with Nagios? Most users replace nagios entirely with SAM since the functionality is redundant and SAM can run existing Nagios plugins/scripts natively.

Denny for some reason any advanced alerts that I create for applications don't display in the "Active Alerts" resource when triggered. The display properly under "Alerts - Advanced Alerts" but never in the "Active Alerts" resource. Any idea why and if/when this will be fixed?

Sounds like the perfect use for the Enterprise Operations Console http://www.solarwinds.com/products/orion/eoc/index.aspx

THe message is saying that the service should be 'Running' but it's actual state is 'Stopped'. That is the reason for the failover.

It's most likely a view limitation, but I recommend you make sure that you double check your snmpd.conf configuration following the steps outlined below. If it still doesn't work I suggest opening a case with support or posting your snmpd.conf file here so we can more easily spot any issues. Step # 1 : Make sure snmp…

Provided the prerequisites are installed and not blocked by other previous installation that are actively awaiting a reboot, the agents should not require a reboot to function. There is however a bug in the reboot detection, which marks the agent as requiring a reboot whenever the server is awaiting a reboot for any other…

This would be a function of Server & Application Monitor rather than Web Performance Monitor.
-
The simplest way to determine is Monitoring is the cause of your performance issues is to stop monitoring for a short time and see if perceived performance for that application is dramatically improved. If it is, then it's fair to surmise that the monitoring was the culprit, but to be sure you should always re-enable…

The latest SAM 5.2 beta includes hardware health monitoring improvements for Dell Servers. So you should now be able to properly monitor the health and status of the battery on your array controller. If you're an existing APM/SAM customer under active maintenance you can sign-up here to participate in the beta. We'd love…

This is likely related to the polling method being used. For the server you are seeing battery information on, is this an ESX host or is this a WMI managed node?
