What you describe is how the agent should already operate today, as seen below. Only in instances where the Orion server can no longer contact the Agent should it be unsuccessful in its removal, such as in the case of a powered off machine for example.

The Agent monitors only the server that it is installed on. So yes the Agent is an excellent option for MSP's to monitor their customers applications and servers. For network devices in those scenarios the MSP is most typically interested in monitoring the internet facing router, which can normally be accomplished…

SAM 6.1, recently released includes Web Service monitoring for both restful API's such as JSON, and SOAP.

More information on the Agent will be available shortly.

Alternatively you can obtain the same installer by going to [Settings > All Settings > Polling Engines] Similarly, you can also find it under [Settings > All Settings > Web Console Settings]

These could be defined as custom properties but there's no way programmatically to gather forward zone DNS entries for a server without managing the DNS server with something like IPAM. E.G. names that point to IP. Orion uses reverse zone lookup for converting the IP address to the name, but that only works for A records.…

We are already tracking this internally under case PS-75, but you are welcome to post this to the thwack feature requests to solicit additional support from the rest of the community.

Statistical baselining is not part of the SAM 6.0 beta 2. It's still something we're working on so keep your eyes on the Product Blog for more details regarding that feature.

Alerting on status of volumes currently is not really valuable. E.G. when has a volume been 'Unknown' that required you to take immediate action. All alerts should ideally be actionable. If you're interested in knowing which volumes are 'Unknown', I would recommend instead scheduling a report to run once a day/week/month…

This was implemented in Orion Core 2016.1 as the Orion Service Manager. It can be found in the Orion web interface under [Settings -> All Settings -> Orion Service Manager]

Betas cannot be installed on top of your production Orion instance. You must install betas on a separate machine (virtual machine, laptop, desktop, spare server, etc).

You should have received an email from me earlier today with a link to download SAM 6.0 beta 4. If you haven't received it yet please direct message me or reply to this thread.

This feature request was posted less than a month ago. In that time there have been no new releases of SAM.

For those of you depserate for a solution which will force Orion to utilize the VIP as the source for all polling without changing the IP addresses of your HA pool members, I have posted a workarond in the thread below. Force Orion High Availability to Utilize VIP as Source IP Address

monitoringlife wrote: How do we set a 'default' number of 'consecutive polls' for new feature 'sustained thresholds'? I do not see a entry under 'Orion General Thresholds', only when I go into node properties. My use case is to specify a default and build an alert to alarm if CPU is over threshold for specified number of…

MySQL 5.7 is supported by SAM. You will however need to install the proper ODBC driver onto your Orion server and modify the connection string accordingly within the template. This is a fairly trivial task which should take only a few minutes to perform.

The Orion web interface is overdue for a refresh, and we are diligently working to modernize the UI. This is an enormous endeavor, so it will very likely be spread out across multiple releases. Active Directory Discovery is exactly what the title suggests. We hope to allow users the ability to perform targeted Network…

This was implemented as an optional Agent in the SAM 6.2 release.

Votes for a Solaris agent should be made in one (or both) of the following areas depending upon which architecture you're running Solaris on. As an 'idea' this posting is simply too broad. 'More' can be construed too broadly and easily. For instance, if we added an Agent for the Atari ST, that would be considered 'more'…

Is everyone here aware that this is easily accomplishable today using the Custom Table Resource? Alternatively, you can accomplish something similar using the existing Events resource with View Limitations. Simply add the All Events resource to a view and apply a view limitation to that view and the All Events Resource…

Yes. The full list of supported devices can be found at the link below. We also have an excellent blog post which discusses Dell Compellent support specifically. * Supported Devices | Storage Manager | SolarWinds

SAM already utilizes Kerberos wherever possible, such as within the same domain. NTLM is used when there is no established trust, such as monitoring machines in a workgroup.

Deleting the agent itself from the Orion web console uninstalls the agent from the remotely host (provided the agent is connected to the Orion server). Once uninstalled you can then re-deploy, also from the Orion Web console.

My recent blog post might shed some light on some of your questions. If not, you can always sign-up to participate in the beta.

You can start from the node if you like and then click the 'Add Related' button that appears when you hover your mouse over the node name in the Entity list. In your latest screenshot, expand the carrot to the left of the category in the metric palette and all metrics in that category that are available for that entity…

Where are you seeing Hardware Status Unknown? Can you post a screenshot?

NET-SNMP is not Linux specific. There are a wide variety of different operating systems that NET-SNMP can be used on, such as Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX.

It might be better to create a new 'Idea' that's more descriptive. That will likely help it receive more votes as a result. This one only has 4 votes, so I don't think much will be lost by creating a new, better, more descriptive idea that more clearly articulates the use case and problem you're wanting solved.

Native SAML 2.0 support for Orion is included in the NPM 12.4 Release Candidate which can be downloaded from your Customer Portal now.
