Yes. This can be done today. In fact there's even a pre-configured out-of-the-box alert within the Advanced Alert Manager to do just that.

Bug: when adding Custom HTML or Text to Node Details, it shows the same info for every node. This is not a bug, this is by design. This is controlled by the "Views" section of the admin page and can be customized per device type but not per individual node. If you have node specific information you wish to use variables…

How is the licensing information made available? Is it possibly exposed via WMI, SNMP, or perhaps a Windows Performance Counter?
-
Map Node Metrics that determine node color/status are unique to each map and each node within the map, and are not tied or associated with thresholds defined elsewhere within the product. The Child Status indicator pictured below in the bottom right of the node status icon is what is reflective of any application,…

This component monitor should be configured to send mail tot he SMTP server of your Exchange server and receive that email directly from that Exchange server using the Exchange Web Services protocol. As configured it would send mail to your Gmail account with no way of retrieving it again to measure the round trip time.
-
Are you going through a proxy? How does this URL function when you attempt to access it via your browser from the Orion server? If it's a WSDL, have you tried using the SOAP monitor instead?
-
Some components listed in the Editor are only applicable to specific versions of MSSQL or the node polling method used. If these unknown components are not seen on the Application Details view, then this is most likely the reason why.

natem50, the APM team is looking to implement IBM Server hardware health monitoring in the next release. We currently need MIB walks from customers IBM Servers to test against in our lab and we'd love your participation. We have a post outlining the process here, and we even include a free tool for collecting the MIB walk.…

There's certainly nothing which prevents you from using the mail round trip monitors to send an email, say through Gmail's SMTP servers to your internal Exchange email address. However, since all internet based email is dependent upon SMTP, defining an SMTP server in this component monitor is a requirement.
-
Are you monitoring all Exchange Servers in the DAG? Information related to Exchange Mailbox Databases can only be collected from the server where the Active copy is running. If the Active/Mounted copy isn't monitored by AppInsight for Exchange then that may explain the error you're seeing.
-
Transmit is from the perspective of the node details page you are on. So if you're on the node details page for your Windows Server and see the TX at 90% that means the server is transmitting at 90% line rate. If you were monitoring the switchport that the Windows server was connected to (say a Cisco switch) when you went…

I'd recommend creating a new Orion user account, keeping the defaults, and seeing if that account experiences the same issue.

Anyone know is there is anything special that needs to be done in order to use a reverse proxy in front of orion? I didn't have to make any special modifications to access my Orion web interface using Checkpoint's Connectra reverse HTTP/HTTPS proxy. Can I ask what kind of reverse proxy are you using?

If you have no applications that are in a status of "down" then the option isn't available from the pull down. Simply type the word "down" into the trigger condition as pictured below so the alert reads "Application Status is equal to Down"

This is actually not unusual. While we're striving to improve application discovery as a whole there are some limitations that inhibit performance. For instance, application discovery is a background task that has very low priority. This is to ensure that on even the most taxed APM server the application discovery process…

Thanks again PererLyttle. We'll consider this for a future release of SAM. I've logged this feature request as FB108223.

A summary view already exists for MSSQL. It's available under the "Applications" tab, from the "SQL Server" menu bar item.

SAM 6.1 does include the ability to monitor restful APIs and measure their response performance and validate content. You cannot as yet however collect statistics exposed through the restful API through this method. We do have examples of how to perform such a task using SAM's PowerShell Script Monitor.

Can I suggest using the IP address of the machine as the detination? If you are using the machine name you will need a WINS server. This is not an Orion/Solarwinds issue, but a windows issue.
-
Double check your IIS configuration and ensure that Windows Integrated and Basic authentication is disabled if you aren't using them. By default, the Orion web interface uses Forms-based authentication.
-
I'm unable to reproduce this issue on the APM 4.2 server I have running in my lab. What component types are you displaying in this resource? A screenshot of the "Edit Custom Object Resource" for this resource would be very helpful.
-
What version of APM are you running?
-
You would use the Custom Table and Custom Chart resources to display similar information from a web based report in Orion views.
-
Have you tried using the File Age Monitor?
-
I believe the real issue here is that the Orion volume status icon does not as yet support reflecting Warning and Critical statuses. The statuses for this icon I believe are limited to Green/Up = Polling ok. Gray/Unknown = indicates a polling problem.

Without seeing the page that's being accessed it's a little difficult to understand the implementation. Does the HTTP monitor simply not work when accessing port 9080 or does the content check not work? Is there a post method being used your check or does it rely heavily on java script?
-
This is likely the result of Windows file protection/blocking that was introduced starting with Windows vista. Have you tried copying the file to the remote server and verifying the file is not blocked?
-
Sounds like the user is an "Orion Admin" but not a "SAM Admin"
-
This isn't really possible using the All Applications resource but this is fairly trivial to do in Report Writer, then embed this report in a web view as pictured below. Another option is to use the Custom Object resource to add the application components to a summary view as pictured below.
