  • Depending how many PowerShell component monitors you have assigned, you could be running into a PowerShell session limit; which offhand I believe is 5 simultaneous PowerShell sessions locally. Don't quote me though. There is a limit, off hand however I can't recall precisely the exact number Windows is limited to.
  • The short answer is yes, it's perfectly normal that the polling frequency and timeout values would be the same. In fact, this is the default behavior.
  • The new charts in APM don't seem to print out from my Color Laserjet 5500, but the legacy charts in NPM print out just fine. This could be a print driver issue. That's why I wanted to know if it was just a "me" thing. I'm running Windows Vista Enterprise SP1. Anyone else have a similar configuration?
  • You could try executing the SolarWinds.APM.RealTimeProcessPoller.exe command from the command line and viewing the output there, specifying the NodeID of the server in question. The Node ID can be seen in your browsers URL when viewing the Node Details of the host. It's the number following the "N:" parameter shown below.
  • How is the node managed? Since this is a Windows node it should be managed via WMI and not SNMP. This is because Windows only updates SNMP statistics once every two minutes. CPU calculations via SNMP require two consecutive polls to calculate percentages, which means at least two minutes must pass before we can gather the…
  • In the latest SAM 5.5 beta it is now possible to utilize SSH Private Key certificates for authentication with Linux/Unix and Nagios Script Monitors. If you'd like to participate in the latest SAM beta you can sign-up here to download to give it a try.
  • The posted solution has worked both times, but it seems to be a short term fix. Agreed. I'm also finding that the solution that I posted only resolves the issues short term. If anyone has a permanent fix please update this thread. Thanks.
  • If you don't want to add additional IP addresses to your Orion server, you can use the host header to define which site you go to based on DNS name... I.E. https://ncm.domain.com vs https://npm.domain.com I've being doing this for my Orion Additional Web Server for years and it's been working great.

  • You will see that the APM chart below (Green) shows that the % Processor Time went above 75% around 10:45AM. The default warning threshold for % Processor Time in APM is 75%. An alert was generated. Correct. That is what occurred on the server at this time in absolute values. The server spiked for some reason at 10:45am to…
  • The agent uses only a single port regardless of mode and does not require bidirectional communication beyond the reply packets. Agent initiated (Active) mode uses TCP 17778 to talk to the Orions server or additional poller. The poller will never initiate communication with an agent in Agent initiated mode, mostly because…
  • These charts are actually not as different as they may appear. The one from APM shows the minimum and maximum values over a given polling period (1am - 4am it appears) where the average is a little under 20%. The NPM chart your showing is an average of an already averaged number "Average of Average CPU load" so I would…
  • The images you included appear to be broken so I can't see what you're looking at. I'd try posting them again. In the meantime what is the CPU on the Performance tab of Task Manager running on the monitored server showing? Is it more inline with APM or NPM?
  • The alert you describe is only applicable when the monitored endpoint is managed as a node in Orion using SNMP, WMI, or an Agent.
  • You mean something like these? * Alert Analysis * Repetitive Email Alerts (Noise) - MUST HAVE REPORT!!!
  • Note, this can also be done for the "All Nodes" resource using the same principals described above.

  • Have you tried re-running the Configuration Wizard again or rebooting the server? Also, what modules and hotfix versions do you have installed?
  • chand.nitin can you post your case number/s here so we can monitor their progress? This will also help us determine if this becomes a trending issue affecting more customers.
  • In the few instances where we have encountered this issue in the past, it has been due to a corrupted DLL file. Isolating the specific DLL causing this problem can be a time-consuming endeavor though. In two of those instances, it turned out to be IPAM was causing the issue and uninstalling and re-installing IPAM resolved…
  • It may help us to better identify a trend if when posting you include not only the symptoms you're seeing, but also the modules you have installed. It's possible that this issue is only affecting a subset of customers who own a particular combination of product modules.

  • NTA 4.4 requires the use of a separate database, but the same SQL server and SQL instance may be shared between NTA and rest of Orion.
  • dodo123 , we have tried extensively to reproduce this issue internally to no avail. Would you please open a support ticket so we can investigate further?
