That worked like a charm. Thanks Tim! Quick follow-up question. I don't suppose this can be made to work if you're using IIS authentication?

I believe the order is based upon the sequence the modules were installed and used. As for why some categories appear on some pollers but not others, I believe this is caused when there are no object types of that particular category being monitored by that poller. When this occurs, the category (such as wireless) is not…

Azure SQL DB support has been officially added to the Orion Platform. You can learn more about this deployment option at the link below: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-204353#jive_content_id_Azure_SQL_DB_Support

I'm not trying to thread jack here but is there any chance the false alarms coming from APM when an application is in an "Unknown" state will be addressed in SP2? I'm not sure what's causing the applications to periodically go into an "Unknown" state. It could be the polling cycle was missed due to high CPU usage, or even…
-
I believe this thread is specific to monitoring AWS and Azure rather than hosting Orion on those services, though that is also becoming increasingly more common as well.
-
Then maybe you can negotiate for double the points.

I would recommend rebuilding your performance counters by executing 'lodcrt /r' at the command line of the node being monitored with this issue.
-
Have you tried changing the fetching method for the component from WMI to RPC?
-
If you're using the following template, it's simply looking for a Net Service Name of "WDSServer". If that is the Net Service Name of the Windows Deployment Service you're attempting to monitor and is resulting in the dreaded Win32_PerfRawData_PerfProc_Process - Invalid Class error, then you should follow the steps…

aLTeReGo you're a saviour. I also spent hours (days) on this. Your solution worked perfectly. Glad I could help! I'm just sorry you didn't stumble upon this post sooner so you didn't have to spend hours/days troubleshooting like I did.

I could concur with Leon Adato here. The Additional Web Server is definitely the way to go.

Any report can be made a resource by utilizing the Custom Table Resource.

This wiki article should get you pointed in the right direction. http://www.sysadminwiki.net/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_Setup_Net-SNMP_in_Solaris_10.

Have you tried enabling the "Restart a Service" alert in the Advanced Alert Manager? This should restart the service if SAM believes it to be down.
-
What type of object is the initial alert built on? Is it a node, component, application, etc.? The issue here is that the Audit Event isn't being created when the alert is acknowledged. If we can determine why, then the second alert should work as expected. Also, what version of SAM are you currently running?

Here are a couple of troubleshooting steps that might help narrow down the cause. If you test this component monitor manually what is the result/status? If you create a new template using the Find Processes, Services & Performance Counters for this service when it's shown as "Down" in the template what status does it…

The crux of the issue is that SeUM is unable to pass credentials it doesn't have. If when the recording was originally created credentials were automatically passed through as part of the operating system, they were not, and cannot be captured by the SeUM recorder. The recommended solution is to force the website or web…

is correct. Have you enabled the Hardware Health monitoring for this node by clicking "List Resources" and selecting it?
-
Also note that interface and node statistics are not collected simultaneously, so it's possible that there was an issue at the time when the node was polled which rectified itself when the interface statistics collection job kicked off a couple minutes later.
-
That was genius, nice find. Has that always been there? Any idea why this worked in all previous version of Orion but suddenly changed in 8.5.1? Works great. Thanks a lot John!
-
While this isn't possible using the existing resources, if you're running NPM 10.3 or later you can create your own custom resources by adding the "Custom Query" resource to any view. You'll need to write the SWQL query yourself using information documented in the Orion SDK.

The Export to PDF functionality has been deprecated in recent releases. It is recommended to use the native functionality of your browser or operating system to export views to PDF.

I agree with Petr.Vilem. The best source for resolution would be the following KB article that Petr referenced above. * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Service reporting, "Invalid Class."

Have you tried changing the polling method for these devices between direct and through vCenter? [Settings -> Virtualization Settings -> VMware Settings -> Select your ESX host -> Click "Poll Through" and change this setting.

We've made some fairly significant improvements to Agent Discovery in the latest release of the Orion Platform. For more details, follow the link below. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-204353#jive_content_id_Orion_Agent_Rediscovery

I've looked at this every which way but there does not appear to be any way to query these statistics using standard ODBC select statements. This is the primary reason this was changed in MySQL 5.1.12 and greater. The only way this looks to be feasible is with a script. Below is one such example for collecting the "Uptime"…

Well hopefully you can scrape together the cash to get Orion. It's a great product! Until then i've written a blog entry on how to run just about any program as a service under Windows. Check it out here.. http://zmq503o1.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2DE8BC7CE0181410!141.entry
