SAM reports any service state other than "Started" as "Down". This ensures that services that are stuck in a "Starting" or "Stopping" state are alerted upon appropriately.

This information should be queryable from the client/end-point based on Microsofts references but it does appear from my own investigation that you may be correct. It look as though this value is only populated for Domain Controllers, and not the endpoints joined to the domain.

What it sounds like is that there has either been a change in the behavior of the API, intentional or unintentional which has changed the behavior of your script. That could be a bug, which is a perfectly valid concern. Have you isolated the issue in your script and have you shared the result of your findings here on…

It's extremely difficult to say without looking through the diagnostic logs. I would recommend upgrading to SAM 6.2.2 and installing the latest Orion Platform v2015.1.2 - Hot Fix 3, as that is most likely to resolve the issue. If that doesn't work, please open a case with support. You will be asked to upload your…

What would be caching the request? SAM doesn't cache content fetched via the HTTP/HTTPS User Experience Monitors. If you're looking for the header only, you can configure that within the component monitor itself as shown below.
-
I've put these into Orion reports that can be downloaded from the Content Exchange links below. APM Component Monitors that are not Inheriting from their Original Template APM Component Monitors Whose Credentials are not Inherited from the Original Template
-
SAM does use OpenSSL to make encrypted connections to other hosts (Linux/Unix Script Monitors for example), but this is not exploitable since this requires no listening ports on the SAM server. It's simply an outbound connection.

Template versioning is something we hope to address in a future release. In the meantime we'll take your feedback into consideration when updating templates in the future.

If you perform a 'List Resources' on that node, is 'Hardware Health' still listed as an option? The error you are seeing suggests that the device does not support hardware health, or that your are running an evaluation of NPM that has expired. If neither of these are true, I would suggest opening a case with support so we…

I'm not entirely sure there is a difference, but I have seen a few instances where Telnet has given false positive results when connecting to a host, opening a session when there's been no listening port at the other end. You may want to go to the server where the port is supposed to be listening and run a [netstat -an |…

Do you know if the node is managed via SNMP or WMI? It sounds like the node is managed via WMI but the credentials being used to manage the node via WMI don't have adequate permissions to authenticate to the SQL server running on that server. To change the credentials being used, click on the AppInsight for SQL application…

This is an OOTB alert action

I already have all the OIDs, so basically what you are saying is i need to create a custom mib poller for every volume on every netapp using the specific OID? Thats crazy....or maybe i'm not understanding what you are saying? Yes, that's exactly what Ishikawa is saying. You will need to create a custom MIB poller for each…

Hi Aaron, Would you be willing to share your VBScript wrapper? It could be useful to other thwack users. Agreed! this would be an excellent contribution to the community.
-
What type of authentication are you using? Forms based (default) or Windows Integrated for pass-through authentication? (Pop-up window asking for credentials). Also, is the account you're trying to use for the Orion Report Scheduler a local Orion user account to a domain/Active Directory user?
-
Were there any major changes make to the DAG configuration in Exchange recently, such a renaming of mailbox database or similar modifications?
-
Yes sir!
-
This is because the Local or Domain Policy is forcing FIPS mode on that server. You will need to disable the "System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" option through the policy editor and reboot the server for these changes to take effect.
-
The only workaround I'm aware of is defining permissions on a per-service level using the "sc sdset" command

In what way is the existing NLB template not working for you? If you're receiving the error message: "Invalid namespace." from the "NLB Cluster node status" it's likely that you have not configured the correct target machine name in WQL script. From the documentation: Note: Before using this monitor, you should set the…

You will not see the user PowerShell is impersonating populated in the "$env:username" variable because the process is still executed under the local system process. You will instead see the username being impersonated when you display the [System.Environment]::UserName variable.

How long does this saturation last? Have you truly narrowed down the problem to Orion? Have you taken a packet capture at the far end of the link? What type of traffic is saturating the line?
-
This is precisely one of the scenarios we wanted to address with the advent of the optional Windows Agent. Simply install the Orion Agent on the Domain Controller and manage the node via the agent in Orion and monitor it the same as you would any SNMP or WMI managed node in Orion.
-
If you haven't yet already, please upgrade to SAM 6.0.2 before contacting support.
-
Agents are far more resilient that SNMP also, as they will operate independently of the polling engine and cache their results locally when/if connectivity between the Orion server and the monitored endpoint is severed. Communication between Orion and the managed endpoint is also encrypted, which is not possible using the…

You can create new application templates manually by going to "Settings -> APM Settings -> Create a New Template" and then adding individual component monitors to the template for the things you want to monitor. This process is a little advanced and requires a good working understanding of how to configure individual…

Correct, but is the web server you're trying to monitor require a host header? E.G. What do you get when you try to access the website via its IP address instead of its name? For example. If you do a reverse lookup on whitehouse.gov you get "23.222.164.225" as it's IP address. Go to http://23.222.164.225/ however and…

Have you tried executing this through the command prompt? E.G "C:\Users\Administrator\Tasks\Unmanage Task.cmd". Note that the "cmd" file name and location shown in the screenshots below will be unique based on what you named the task and who you are logged into the system as. Are any errors returned? Is the object…

An alternative method would be to use the Orion Agent.
