What you are describing would be a function of SolarWinds Virtualization Manager

Custom Properties for applications were added in SAM 5.5, though it sounds like what you're really looking for are "User Notes". User Notes can be added to any component monitor within an application template, customized per-assigned application, appear on the Component Settings Resource in the web interface, and can even…

SAM 6.3 Beta 2 is now available which includes a Linux Agent for Node, Volume, Interface, and Application monitoring. This agent should address many of the shortcomings associated with monitoring Linux host via SNMP, up to and including properly calculating volume usage statistics referenced in this thread. If you already…

Opened this idea back up to voting. We are also tracking this internally under CORE-10923.

alexslv wrote: 3aLTeReGo , below are few more ideas that I currently have implemented in a custom way, but it would be great to have them OOB at some point: (1) Node/Interface Down Status to have X polls - We have a way to define number of polls object needs to be down before firing alert. Very similar to what I see here…

Have you tried using the Real-Time Process Explorer, the Windows Service Control Manager, or using the Component Monitor Wizard under [Settings - SAM Settings]? All of these methods provide a simple point and click interface for monitoring processes and services running on a Windows host without the need to RDP to the…

SAM 5.2 and earlier do not support remote poller deployments. Additional pollers are fully supported but they should be located on the same LAN as the SQL database server. E.G. low latency. SAM 5.5, currently in beta does support remote additional pollers which can be geographically dispersed to remote locations away from…

Have you tried accessing the Orion web console via the IP address of the new Orion server or the VIP?

What information would you be looking for specifically beyond what's currently available in the templates below? * Microsoft DirectAccess 2012 * Microsoft DirectAccess 2008 R2

Product updates with HA are no different than without. You simply need to disable HA prior to the upgrade and re-enable it again once the upgrade is complete. Upgrading the HA backups is no different than upgrading any other scalability engine, such as an Additional Polling Engine or Additional Web Server.

Yes. This is discussed in the following blog post. * SAM 6.2 Beta - Because sometimes you feel like a nut - Part 1 PEEKABOO - I SEE YOU! It would appear that either the local system account has no ability to access the internet to validate warranty information, requiring completion of the steps in the article referenced above, or if those steps were completed successfully, that the Orion services need to be restarted. You can also force a poll of warranty…

When performing a WAN installation at the DR site the server will retain its IP address. The FoE only uses the same IP address for both the primary and secondary servers in a LAN configuration where both servers are in the same subnet. In a WAN configuration each server retains their unique IP addresses for routing…

The hotfix only addresses issues monitoring web servers that are case sensitive, such a Linux/Unix. If you look at the web server logs you will see the URL is all lower case where in the component monitor it has mixed case such as "http://some.server.com/MyApplication" becomes "http://some.server.com/myapplication". For…

This is theoretically possible using a SQL Report and the Network Sonar Discovery Results. You may want to consider posting this request to the Report Lab for assistance in creating such a report. I'd actually be pretty surprised if alexslv hadn't already written a report very similar to this.

SAM 6.0.1 (available for download now through your Customer Portal) includes significant improvements to SAM's SSH implementation used in the Linux/Unix/Nagios script monitors. This includes support for the latest SSH standards, as well as being FIPS compliant. I recommend you download the SAM 6.0.1 Service Release and see…

Hmm. That's a fair point. This would require a hop, skip and a jump to ensure the Agents know about the new IP address. This would mean failing over to the new Orion server, changing the IP address of the old server to something temporary, failing back to the old server, changing the IP address of the new Orion server to…

Have you considered using the Agent instead? It requires no credentials for monitoring the Domain Controller.

yes, Orion High availability can work with multiple interfaces, but only one will be used for for the VIP or virtual hostname. Note that the VIP or virtual hostname is used only for accessing Orion (usually the web interface), not for polling devices.
-
This is already possible today. Simply go to [Settings > All Settings > Web Console Settings] and enter in the FQDN of your Orion web interface in the 'Orion Web Server Address' field.
