The bug support is referencing is tracked internally under CORE-4678 and should be resolved in SAM 6.3 currently in beta. You can sign-up here and try it yourself. As an alternative workaround you will need to change not only the account the 'SolarWinds Alerting Service V2' runs under to a privileged user, but also the…

SAM's Hardware Health will notify you when/if a disk has failed, has a predictive failure (SMART), or an array RAID group/LUN/etc. is exhibiting any other type of issue. However, SAM does not repair the disk or array. Typically this involves replacement of the physical disk.

I would look through the list of applications monitored on that poller and unmanage any applications that are in a "down" or "unknown" status. If that doesn't resolve the issue then I recommend opening a case with support so we can help determine the cause of the memory leak.

Have you configured WinRM on both the Orion server and the remote host? Also, is the Orion server and the remote host in the same domain? Configuring Windows Remote Management (WinRM) * If not already done so, install PowerShell 2.0 and WinRM on the APM and target servers. Powershell 2.0 can be found here:…

SAM is not limited only to monitoring applications for which there are out-of-the-box templates for. You can monitor virtually any commercial, opensource, or custom application using a variety of different component monitor types to create your own custom application template. Since your application monitoring is already…
-
The Application Discovery time is based on the number of templates that are being tested and the number of nodes selected. Since every component monitor in each selected template is tested against every node in the list I would recommend reducing the number of templates or the number of nodes in the application discovery…

That's what I thought you were referring to. Poll-now is a diagnostic troubleshooting tool used primarily by support. As such it assumes nothing about methods or settings selected. This allows support to see within the diagnostics attempts to use both Windows and SQL authentication in the event one is working and the other…

To that end I would recommend using the application templates below, assign them individually to each named SQL instance. For multi-instance SQL servers multiple templates may be applied. SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (SQL) SQL Server 2012 Performance (SQL) Once the template is applied to the node, edit the assigned…

In theory you should be able to mitigate this by increasing the timeout for the assigned application, as well as a few select components, such as "Database Files", "Top Active Sessions with Statistics", and "Top Tables for Database" You can also disable certain components, like the "Top Indexes for Database", "SQL Agent…

The SQL Server performance is what matters the most. I don't recommend running Orion, SQL Server and NTA all on the same machine, but Orion and NTA on the same box works great for me. Since the SQL Server is the bottleneck I recommend you use the fastest disks possible and a high speed raid array such as Raid 10.

Today server hardware health information can only be summarized on a summary view using embedded reports created in the Orion Report Writer. If you look at the "What we're working on" for SAM blog posting you'll find that we're currently working on a hardware health summary resource for SAM.
-
If you're able to invest a little time to reading through the Orion SDK documentation, and maybe posting a few questions to the Orion SDK Forum you can use the Custom Query Resource to display virtually any information collected by Orion.
-
Before you kill yourself trying to get WoL integrated into Orion have you tested it on your servers? I'm not aware of too many servers that support WoL since that's usually a desktop function and not a requirement for servers which usually remain on at all times.

This is not a problem with the template, but either an issue with SAM or the data being returned by the device. I can honestly say that this issue has never been reported before, so I'm at a complete loss as to where to start. I would recommend first upgrading to SAM 6.2.3 if you're on an older release. If the issue…

As Lukas stated above, these Windows Event Logs are not monitorable using WMI. The next release of SAM includes an RPC method for monitoring Windows Event Logs that you'll likely have greater success with. If you'd like to participate in the SAM Beta 5.5 you can sign-up here -> SolarWinds Orion SAM 5.5 Beta Participation…

That error appears to be telling you that it cannot access the database > https://support.solarwinds.com/SuccessCenter/s/article/Orion-Web-Console-error-Keyword-not-supported-provider

Whith this information you help me, all services were up and the IIS service too but I know what is my problem, when I try open the orion webconsole appears the server name and not your IP, if I put the IP address then I have access. How can I do for that open with the IP and not with server name or Where can I change…

Please try re-running Configuration Wizard again and select the option to create a new database. Have you tried rebooting the Orion server? I've seen some rare cases where restarting the Orion services and/or IIS has resolved similar issues.

Correct. CPU or Memory utilization does not affect overall node status. If you need a visual indicator on the node icon for either of these properties then I suggest creating application component monitors for these items, as their status will be reflected in the node child status indicator when they exceed warning or…

This connection that is open to the Exchange server is related to the "Configure Server" button only. It's not related to monitoring in any way. It's probably safe to assume that at one point you attempted to use the "Configure Server" button to configure your Exchange server using a different user account than the one you…

I don't believe the SDK documentation has been updated yet for SAM 5.2. It was only released yesterday. I recommend posting a question to the SDK forum requesting an example.

Are each and every one of your the ESX host managed as VMware nodes in Orion? There's no need to monitor them using SNMP, but at a very minimum they must be managed VMware hosts.
-
One of the statistics returned by the Log Parser template is Number of Newly Found Strings This monitor shows the number of newly found strings after the last script execution. This sounds like what you're looking for.
-
Yes. Everything you listed is available in the Report Writer .Below is an example of what that report might look like, grouped by node, then by application name.
-
Items like the Serial Number for servers is information that is only available with SAM. If you need a similar report for Network Devices I recommend posting to either the Network Performance Monitor, or Report Lab forums.

The waterfall chart really only makes sense at the 'Step Details' level unless the transaction contains only one step. Each page (step) will have its own content, and is reflected as such on the Step Details view.

The issue occurs not based on the number of "things" monitored, but rather how NET-SNMP updates the process list in SNMP. When there are a lot of processes spawning and terminating within the split second polling occurs, this can cause NET-SNMP to return bogus results for the process list using the Get-Bulk method. For…

It's the web servers responsibility to close out sessions since in most cases when the end user is done they simply closes their web browser. Orion will close out that unused session within 5 minutes of inactivity automatically and reclaim the resources.

Offhand something is wrong with WinRM on this host. I'm not sure what, but you have two options available to you. You can use the optional agent included with SAM 6.2, install it on this host you're having problems and see if that resolves the issue since it doesn't utilize WinRM. The other option is to investigate the…

Google Chrome is not officially supported in APM 4.2. We hope to support it in future versions of APM but currently there are known issues with the Chrome browser and APM. I regularly use Chrome but manage APM using Firefox. If you want to disable the ActiveX prompting for Toolset Integration when using Internet Explorer…
