Since these are workstations using DHCP I would recommend using the agent to monitor these hosts and collect Asset Inventory information.

Many customers use Infoblox with Orion HA.
-
Native SAML 2.0 support for Orion is included in the NPM 12.4 Release Candidate which can be downloaded from your Customer Portal now.

Are there any errors in the Windows Event Log when the failover occurs? What happens when you attempt to assign a secondary IP address to the server? Is there anything unusual about the secondary machine, such as NIC teaming, differing subnet masks, or 3rd party NIC software? I'm really reaching here, but without some…

That query will force the Agents out of 'Pending Reboot' status. It is used in rare circumstances when the Agent may be inaccurately reporting the machine has a pending reboot. If the machine is really pending a reboot this can be determined via the Registry. This is the same way the Agent determines the machine has a…

There's no special configuration on the Orion side needed. Simply specify listener name of the SQL AlwaysOn availability group rather than SQL instance name in database step of Configuration Wizard and away you go.
-
With the introduction of High Availability, we moved the license store off the machines themselves and into the database. This is because a failure of any member in a pool may be unrecoverable. Losing a member in a pool should not cause the other survivable member in the pool, or any scalability engines associated with the…

Yes, the Windows Event Log Monitor has existed since APM 3.1. It's a component monitor type that can be added to any application template. It's also used in several out-of-the-box application templates. For example the Errors in Application Event Log template.
-
Topology data is collected from each monitored device. From this we are able to determine that these devices are not connected to each other directly, and that some unmonitored device(s) must exist between them. As such we represent this on the map as an unmanaged node.

is correct. There is conflicting information between the online KB and what's printed in the Administrators Guide. Thank you Richard for bringing this to our attention. I'll get this resolved as quickly as possible.

SQL uses the Windows failover Cluster. The following template(s) should provide you with what you are looking for. * Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2-2012 R2 Failover Cluster (Advanced) * Microsoft Windows Server 2012-2012 R2 Failover Cluster * Microsoft Windows Server 2012 - 2012 R2 Failover Cluster * Microsoft Windows…

If these are your requirements then your only options are to install APM or an Orion additional poller on that Windows host, or develop a PowerShell script that executes on the Windows host. against the Unix host and returns the result to your APM server. As stated previously I'm not aware of any such script in the content…

The ability to alert on days since the last full or incremental backup was added in the SAM 6.2.1 Service Release that is due to be released soon.
-
In the event that the alert is not acknowledged and it proceeds to the next step in the escalation process will both alerts be sent or just the one set to fire after the initial notification? i.e. email1 is sent but not ack'd after 30 min so email2 is sent; if this occurs will both email1 and email2 be sent or will only…

The component ID is required because SAM needs the credentials used to monitor that component to restart the service. The Component ID can be a macro as the OOTB alert uses to restart failed services, but it can also be entered manually to restart a specific service on a particular node when the trigger condition is met.
-
Which component monitor types are we comparing, and what are the Application template polling intervals? Also, if you compare to Task Manager which is more accurate? Lastly, can you provide a screenshot so we can see what you're looking at?
-
SAM will wait for the previous job to complete or timeout before executing another.
-
is there an easy way to get rid of my unknowns for the Hardware polling? For example my Dell M610 servers don't have a battery but this is reporting in to Orion. Do I need to manually delete these or there a better way? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

APM doesn't provide a remote player agent which it sounds like would be important for you to have visibility into the true end user experience from a remote location. A more expensive alternative would be to deploy APM to that remote location and monitor using the HTTP user experience monitor in APM. It won't provide you…

Without seeing the result of the SQL query itself it's difficult say exactly. Provided your SQL query returns a single column/row value then I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
-
No default Network Device is required. This option exists for environments where the user logging in may only be responsible for a single server. Setting this option will take the user directly to that Node's details view when they login. Leave this set as "not selected" for users that should default to a summary view…

Here's a brief description of the 406 error that was returned by the server. The resource identified by the request is only capable of generating response entities which have content characteristics not acceptable according to the accept headers sent in the request. Unless it was a HEAD request, the response SHOULD include…

The web link monitor was designed to validate that links on a given page are not broken. The component monitor you want to be using to measure page load time is the HTTP User Experience monitor. You might even want to take a look at our Synthetic End User Monitor product which was designed specifically to monitor websites…

Yes, if you are not using the out-of-the-box DFS template included with SAM I would recommend copying at the very least the Windows Event Log Monitors to you custom application template.
-
I would concur that this sounds like an issue with the SMS provider. It may be an illegal character, reserve word, etc. is included in subject line that is being stripped by the SMS provider. I would recommend replacing the subject line text with the word "test" or something equivalent and see if that is then properly…

You can download SAM at the link below. * Server & Application Performance Monitoring | SolarWinds

Yes, I would recommend switching them to CHECKSUM.

You are correct that this template requires the Exchange Management Tools to be installed on the SAM server, and the Exchange Tools require 64bit Windows to run.Unfortunately, this Exchange template is not remoteable in the manner you describe.
-
That's what I'm thinking. It's my belief that the mailbox size is correct for the mailbox itself, but that the attachment value is inclusive of both the regular and archive mailbox contents combined.
-
Can I safely assume you don't really have 63.9GB of RAM in this server? What happens if you enable 64Bit counters for this node?
