So on the same server (physical or virtual) you have multiple SQL instances running with the same command line options? Is the instance name not part of the command line switches for your SQL 2008/2008R2 instances? Can you post of a screenshot of this in the Real-Time Process Explorer?
-
Are the instances not shown when you click "List Resources"? If they do appear have you selected them to be monitored and clicked on their instance names from the "All Applications" resource and entered the SQL credentials? Is this a SQL Cluster? If so, have you added the cluster VIP as a node in Orion and attempted to…

An optional agent for SAM is something we're considering but is not something included in the SAM 6.0 release.
-
The following additional macros are now available in the SAM 6.0 RC (available now) * ${USER} * ${PASSWORD} * ${PORT} * ${Node.SysName} * ${Node.Caption} * ${Node.DNS} * ${Node.ID} * ${Component.ID} * ${Component.Name} * ${Application.Id} * ${Application.Name} * ${Application.TemplateId * ${Threshold.Warning} *…

If you are seeing the Processes & Services being reported as "Down" in AppInsight for SQL, please verify that the node is managed via WMI. While the credentials you provided may work for querying the SQL database server using SQL authentication, they are not adequate for monitoring Windows OS related information such as…
-
Is this something you've tested? The way the application monitoring works is that it downloads a table of running applications via SNMP, then looks to see if the process name that is being monitored is listed or not. If the table isn't downloaded because the node is down or SNMP daemon isn't running then the status doesn't…

Some component types can be changed between RPC and WMI, such as Windows Process Monitors, Windows Service Monitors, and Windows Event Log Monitors.
-
You'll first need to ensure that the credentials you provided have administrative permissions to that machine. I would suggest using the built-in local or domain 'Administrator' account to see if it's a permissions related issue. If permissions aren't the issue, then the next thing to verify is that there are no firewalls…

The Multiple Object Chat wasn't supported in APM until the latest release, v4.2. Once you upgrade to APM 4.2 you'll be able to leverage the Multiple Object Chart resource for APM component and application statistics.

See, you didn't need me after all. Glad you found what you were looking for. You should find SAM's Windows Event Log Monitor a far superior solution to managing Windows Events than doing so through SNMP Traps.
-
SAM 6.0.2 includes a default out-of-the-box alert "Alert me when any hardware component goes into a warning or critical state" that should work for this purpose.
-
zyontist, it sounds like you haven't installed SAM onto your additional poller.
-
This is outlined in the Orion Migration Guide
-
That is correct. The inverse is also true. SAM without NPM provides hardware health for Servers only, not network equipment Similarly, SRM provides Hardware Health for Storage Arrays only, and not server or network devices. if you own and install all three, you receive Hardware Health Monitoring for all those device types.
-
1. Does this only happen when you are trying to change the label? Or does it happen when trying to create the poller? Both 2. Does it show up just opening the page, or do you have to do something first? (Like hit the "Test button" or change the grouping combo boxes) It's happening after I select "bsnMobileStationUserName"…

BTW I rebooted the Orion server but these errors remain. These monitors worked last week so I'm not sure what's wrong now. I uploaded a Solarwinds Diagnostic via LeapFile so hopefully that will contain some useful information.
-
This was fixed as part of SAM 5.2 which is currently in Release Candidate. If you'd like to participate in the RC you can sign up here.
-
By what exactly do you mean by "virtuals"?
-
Unfortunately not. Without TDE Orion would need to know which columns are encrypted and use “DecryptByKey” when querying those columns. However, if you skip SQL 2012 entirely and go directly to SQL 2016 SP1 you will get TDE in the Standard Edition of SQL and can save yourself a lot of money not buying the Enterprise…

is on the right track. The File Monitors in SAM utilize the WMI protocol to monitor for file & directory existence/change/size/etc. These monitors will not work for Linux machines. Even those running SAMBA, as Linux/Unix does not support WMI. For Linux you would need to use the Linux/Unix Script Monitor to gather this…

Digging into this further there are a few different reasons why this could be occurring. * Two ERROR strings are found during each execution, potentially as the result of constant errors. Unlikely based on the date/time stamp information shown in the screenshot you provided above.* For example: 2 errors are written to the…
-
The Alert should be handled for you using the pre-configured out-of-the-box alert "Alert me when a component goes down".
-
Wow, that seems to solve the problem nicely. Thanks! On a related note, I have nothing but a broken image in the "Unique Visitors" resources for all endpoints. Is this a problem unique to me?
-
This is definitely related to SNMP Traps, but beyond that I'm not really sure. A quick Google search confirms this is a Microsoft behavior. You might have to brush up on my Russian to learn more. https://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=TrapQSharedMemory

The polling interval is controlled within the assigned application or can be changed at the application template level to effect all instances where that template has been applied. By default, the polling interval is 300 seconds (5 minutes).

Thank you for confirming. I've captured this information internally under case INFODEV-2472
-
jameslindsay, if you haven't already, please open a case with support for this issue. We will need to confirm the specifics of the problem you are encountering, as well as the cause. If it's what we believe it is, then we might have a fix available. When contacting support, please ask them to reference internal case…

My recommendation would be to uninstall the HP SIM Agent from the server and download/install the latest version. Surprisingly this has resolved many similar issues for other users. If that doesn't work it would be worth doing a MIB walk of the device to see if the HP OIDs are even present. You should see in the MIB walk…

The case appears to have been resolved by upgrading to Orion Core 2018.2 (NPM 12.3). Since 2018.4 (NPM 12.4) is released, I would recommend upgrading to the latest version.
