Fantastic explanation to clarify things - thank you Jeremy!

Some big subnets there. Can they be broken down by remote location? I'd be looking to add a couple of sites as IP Groups (Settings > All Settings > NTA Settings > IP Address Groups) Once you've setup a couple of groups, you can have a play with Flow Navigator to filter the reports and see if that helps you get the…

Header for each host would ideally show the name, hypervisor, CPU core count and RAM. Then each guest VM running on that host - name, OS, vCPUs and RAM assigned, finishing with a summary footer to show the totals for vCPU and RAM.

Thanks. I couldn't think of a reason why it wouldn't work but the more I thought about it, the more I thought there must be a catch so turned to Thwack.

Thanks David - hadn't seen that KB article before but it's bookmarked now!

Does the SW DB also contain the Licensed Component count for each template? If so where? It doesn't look to be in the APM_ApplicationTemplate table having fired up SWQL Studio I'm wondering if it's dynamically calculated from the number of Component Templates assigned to the Application Template ID... I'd like to have a…

Thanks David. That would be one way to do it, though not ideal as on a bigger report you'd need to keep flipping back to the first table to see the host details. Could you count the total VM resources assigned for each host?

Sorry, forgot to include I know the NPM license must equal the NTA license. It was more checking if you only need Netflow from a small number of devices (on a large network), there's nothing stopping you using an SL100 license...

That's excellent information, thank you.

Some chat about SQL support for NTA in the link below - has to be SQL 2016 to use ColumnStore (in case anyone is on older licenses) What we are working on NTA post v4.2.2 (February 8th, 2018)

I'd echo the comment above asking for a road map update. LA 2020.2 adds support for flat log file collection from Windows devices with the SW agent installed - will this be extended to include Linux SW agents? If so, is there a timeframe for this?

Or, if you have a static IP address and can create a Connector in Office 365 (a few clicks), you don't need to worry about authentication. How to set up a multifunction device or application to send email using Office 365 - Office 365 It's Option 3 in the above MS KBA

How is the WAN traffic routed (especially to the Internet)? If the traffic doesn't pass through the core 6500 switches, then you'll never see the reporting you want from Netflow (from those switches). Can you enable Netflow on the remote switches? The switches would need to be in NPM as well.

Could you provide some information about the problem and when it occurs please?

To answer the DB question, NTA has a stand-alone DB for the flow data but still needs access to the main Orion SQL Server. Obviously depends on how many flows you are going to be working with - check the system requirements for the flow DB below... What are the requirements for NTA 4.x - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC.
