Is this where "alert suppression" comes in? Yep, you are right. have setup an alert "node down" for the 7200's and 1800's, but should anyone or both of 7200's goes down, I don't want to recieve 800 alerts from all the 1800's You should create one advanced alert for the 7200's that does not contain any Alert Suppresion and…

Hi Howrad, mscorwks.dll belongs to the .Net Framework 2.0. the Syslog service seems to crash when it calls some functions from that library. Yet the status is still running... I would recommend you to uninstall and then reinstall the .Net Framework 2.0 . You need to stop all the Orion services and the webconsole before to…

Hi, You might want to give a quick try to Samplicator: http://www.switch.ch/network/downloads/tf-tant/samplicator/ This small program receives UDP datagrams on a given port, and resends those datagrams to a specified set of receivers. HTH, Yann

Hi, The issue seems to only happen with Microsoft Windows Loopback Interfaces. Do you need to monitor these interfaces? I suggest you remove them in Orion. (Web Console > Admin > Manage Nodes.) The issue seems to be that Orion discovers a specific speed for the Loopback interface (e.g. 100Mbit/s) but this one can basically…

Mark, Could you check the following? 1. Is the web site running in the context of Network Service account? To check this you can go to IIS, open the properties for NCM website, see what Application Pool the site is running under.(Home Directory Tab; application Pool, Confirm what the setting is, usually its DefaultAppPool)…

Hi bgf, The module Application Performance Monitor can let you query any WMI class you need through several type of monitors. Orion itself without that module cannot query WMI classes. Let us know if you have APM and need more details on how to query a custom WMI class. R, Yann

what is the different between detailed and generic alert in the basic alerts? Did you mean between Basic and Advanced Alerts? If not please detail where you found the Detailed and Generic terms in the basic alerts. Is it in the Property to Monitor, in the Actions, etc...? Thanks Yann

Hi, You can delay the execution of actions when an advanced alert is triggered. See below screenshot:

Hi, Does anyone know if Solarwinds has a patch or workaround to force the "list resources" to look at the CPUraw values against net-snmp nodes? This is a feature request (for internal guys #9364). A work around would be to create a Universal Device Poller to poll the CPUraw oid on the Net-SNMP nodes. Upgrading to Orion 9.1…

Hi Paul, The compilation error means that APM did not even try to run the script. Could you try to run the script manually in the command line with the parameters you specified? Thanks Yann

Hi, The message is stating that the login failed. You should reset the password of the SQL login account used by Orion and then re-run the configuration wizard. Open SQL Server Management Studio. Expand Security > Logins. Right-Click on your SQL Login and select Properties. In the General section change the password and…

Hi, NPM does not provide this functionality. The APM module allows you to execute VB Script and then graphs the results automatically. You need for this to write a script and in compliance with the requirements on the Windows Script Monitor. Creating a Windows Script monitor. If you do not have APM, a solution would be to…
-
Hi rjones-uk, the Application Performance Monitor module can do this, it uses a vb script and returns the number of files contained in a folder. The script is included by default with other scripts. You just have to specify the path of the folder/drive you wish to monitor as a parameter in the monitor settings.…

I need to determine which among the servers are vmware. If you monitor the ESX server on which are hosted your exchange servers, Orion NPM will show you in the web console which servers are Virtual Machines and on which host they are hosted. Also I have to monitor the services running to it using the APM. Have you tried to…

Hi forks, Unfortunately there is no event written in the Events table when a NetFlow Source interface is added to NTA. I checked in NTA 3.0 and 3.1 . Except if you can find a related event that would tell you that the interface has been added at a specific date, I do not think this is possible to report the history of the…

Hi, You might have found a bug. If you edit your Report and Select the Summarization tab, selecting a Summarization setting (Hour, Week, Month) will solve the issue. However the Summarization options do not allow you to summarize with something lower than an hour, if you need to show e.g. each ten minutes there is a work…

The Avg Response Time and Packet Loss are calculated using ICMP requests/responses. Could you check your device is configured in Orion as a SNMP device type? Anyone who has an idea on what "other tools" should be used? MaximumConnections: Maximum number…

When i added it i didn't get any drive resources. Your device probably does not support the hrStorage MIB. Orion uses this MIB to monitor the Disks. When i ran mib walk alot of the oid's i would like don't exist in the Universal Device Poller. The OIDs do not need to be in the MIB DB to be able to monitor them. If you know…

Hi, Yes it is possible. 1) Uninstall NCM 5.5 2) Restore a backup of your DB prior to the upgrade. 3) Install NCM 5.1 and connect it to the restored database. 4) Restore your Jobs, Scripts, Custom Templates etc.. See Moving Orion Network Configuration Manager section in the Administration Guide (page 36 of the PDF) for…
