  • what was your experience with the new polling engine?
  • in NPM 9.1 (Sp4) I am having this problem on some Clustered SQL Servers and the server guys were able to correlate an SNMP event in the system logs of the monitored node. restarting the SNMP service resolved the issue. I also have a 8.5 installation where I see this somewhat more often.
  • Does SP4 need to be reinstalled?
  • Turns out SP1 for APM 3.0 addresses this issue. It was applied today. Hopefully the Orion Module Engine stays up now
  • Problem has resurfaced. Been on hold for SW support for 20 mins now. My APM is down hard. Cant recall the steps that were taken to get around the crpytography problem. Are they posted on a wiki somewhere?
  • i've been given two more Solarwinds.APM.poller.dll files to try out since my last post and both have failed miserably. I've asked support many times to set up a lab environment with my exact set up so they can reproduce the issue. I dont feel confident that they are making the effort to do so. Im running APM 2.5 on a…
  • very interesting topic. I currently have an NPM 9.5\APM 3 installation monitoring all our windows infrastructure. My company is deploying a production system based on CentOS. Currently, Nagios is in place to monitor the linux environment and all critical applications. Is there a way to have Solarwinds execute the nagios…
  • Roger, Any update on mstolle's case? Im about to set up some file age monitors myself and was hoping to create alerts based on statistic data
  • Thanks for digging in, Michael. The latest diagnostic file was uploaded and downloaded by SW support staff. Yes all the Solarwinds modules are installed local to the SQL server. the box is an IBM x3650 with 8 CPU Cores and 18gb of ram. the SQL database is running on a RAID 10 disk subsystem. Im surprised that this is not…
  • what is the size of your JobEngine35.sdf file? C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\JobEngine\Data have you tried blanking it out?
  • What customers of Solarwinds are really looking for is more transparency, and a little bit more attention to communication of issue status and expected resolution. When asked the question by customers and superiors, what is the status on X, we're looking for enough information from SW to give an answer. Vaguaries and lack…
  • Can we have the option to add individual accounts that are not local user accounts on my EOC server nor AD accounts. My environment's current security policy will prevent me from creating that many individual user accounts on a server. While I appreciate Solarwinds trying to make it easier for us Admins, The current model…
  • I'd prefer to have the option to administer nodes from both the web and system manager. I typically have RDP sessions into all my solarwinds servers and tend to "administer" them from within a remote desktop. Thats how one typicall works on a server. Why should Solarwinds be locked down to a web client?
  • I was having this issue when I first installed APM 2.0. After SP2, and rebooting a few of the servers that was displaying this type of behavior, things were OK for a while. This past weekend, I've installed APM 2.5 RC and the problem came back. I've tried restarting the Job Scheduler Engine and messed around with the…
  • I had a drive hit 100% earlier today and no alert was triggered. I have a basic alert for all volumes to send an email when util crosses 90%. At first, I thought I forgot to include this particular volume in this basic alert. When I double checked, it was indeed checked off. However, no alert was sent. Should I open a…
  • when is this SP coming out?? I'm having a ton of APM license issues
  • thats fine, they can offer more functionality by building admin capability into the web interface, but why take away from the system manager? As an admin of the system I spend majority of my time doing two things, adding/modifying/deleting nodes and setting up/tweaking alarms. I dont have all the manage node functionality…
  • I've already made the changes suggested by dev and updated my case accordingly. I've also uploaded a fresh diag file this morning for reference. Here is some more info that might help ( I will rely this to my support engineer as well): I am seeing the following errors on some of our win2k8\sql 2005 64-bit Nodes: Event…
  • I like the idea. I work in a 24x6 environment whcih means my only change window to perform Solarwinds upgrades\maintenance is late Friday evening. its also hard to get a support person on the line quickly during out of business hours on a friday night.
  • I've recently upgraded to APM 3.0 RC from APM 2.5. Its still too early to call it a victory, but my IIS alerts due to Connection Timeout have stopped. General look and feel of APM is much better as well. I also upgraded NPM to 9.5 from 9.1 and I'm happy so far.
  • I have several MS Clusters running SQL Server 2005 in my environment I add all three nodes. The primary and secondary nodes are added with their actual IP's and I select all resources for each node (CPU, Memory, Disks, Network interfaces) I add the Cluster node via the SQL Cluster IP (not the MS cluster IP). under this…
  • Marie\Mindy, Im glad you were able to turn around the views of some users here. Unfortunately, my frustration with Solarwinds grows day by day. I would like to speak with you or someone who is in the position to understand the issues I've been facing. Sorry if this sounds like I'm venting, but I am currently on hold for…
  • This issue just occured for the second time in a week, yeilding my Production APM installation completely down. I've opened case 126588 and performed the workaround that was described above. It seemed to work for a few days and now my Orion Module Engine service is in a repeated reboot cycle. This problem is totally…
  • we've previously impemented the standard Linux SNMP mib. but have gotten rid of it since it was reporting bizzare CPU values (ie 100+% Cpu utilization).
  • I'm in the process of setting up the same exact APM with Adv alert and my first thought was to create the trigger based on the statistic data. If that doesnt work, then I do consider this a problem since the Advance Alert portion of the product does not work as advertised. I would think that the alert can be created based…
  • Denny, How about offering the option of AD authentication' or better yet, allow input of records from the "accounts" table in the NPM database. I'm currently dead in the water with EOC because security policy prevents me from creating local windows accounts on my EOC server. My server also has two domains and my…
  • too funny as I was just wondering if this was possible! I like the idea of having two Pie Charts on my Solarwinds home page, 1 for NPM and 1 for APM
  • are there any plans to complement the VMWare templates with Citrix XenServer templates. My shop heavily utilizes Citrix XEN as our virtualization platform.
  • +1 for this request. Is there a VBscript I can integrate into APM to accomplish this? I think the best solution would be for solarwinds to include this in the next release of APM
  • I have the same problem. Aftering adding a node for the first time, I change the Node name to something friendlier than our server hostname standard naming rules. When the servers IPs are readdressed, Solarwinds defaults back to the system hostname and removes my Friendly name.
