Yes great news indeed. I have had a number of customers excited enough to go with the RC. The additional polling engine new feature is surprising and very welcomed. This will definitely open up options for many folks. I know you didnt mention it in this post, but its in the release notes. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems…

There is very little 32bit left in the Orion Core. I spoke with one of the developers recently and he mentioned they are almost done with the removal of old VB6 code. They are moving to completely .net 64 bit. He also mentioned that the job engine and module engines along with many other needed processes are already…

Isnt it the goal of the tool vendor to force you into tool sprawl?
-
I have found that this tool is one which developers seem to love the most. They are able to then see the impact of changes to code in web apps being monitored. If you can get the development teams in on this one, I think you may be able to maximize its use in your environment. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems…

Interesting. I know a few customers who have been hoping for the Windows Volume Mount Points feature. I love these posts by the way. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

Great request Zack. This would really help clients focus the massive amounts of data about traffic down to a more manageable amount.

Like I mentioned, I use coffer.com but I had no idea their DB was so dated. Thanks for linking to the IEEE page that has the most updated version. I will be using that moving forward. You guys should definitely use the IEEE page if you are creating a way for us to look up the mac's from within a SW product. Sohail Bhamani…

Im with a client today that could most definitely use that sync feature between Vman and NPM/SAM. We have those dreaded images that are shown above with the red x in them. We got it to work with lots of jumping between Vman and NPM. Looking forward to this release! Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems

Enhancement on this would be great. The current options are quite limited.

We just started using LogMeIn to provide remote support to our users. Or let me say, our IT staff does this.
-
With my current client, this is showing how needed this feature is. We have to use a variety of credentials but where we are suffering the most is physical sql servers. We want to use SNMP to get the topology but need to use WMI to get windows mount points and disk queue lengths. Bump this one up!

Agreed with Byrona. Should be great for customers and partners alike in deployment and terminology. I look forward to seeing this in action. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

Netbrain is incredible. It does the mapping stuff but the way you can use the map to then zoom in and edit on a specific device or interface from the diagram, that is great stuff.
-
How about on a per netflow source interface? Or all of the options!

I explain to all my customers that since Orion is based on a polling interval, using SNMP traps is one way to make monitoring more real time. It does take some configuring in the Trap Viewer, but the end result is a way to find out about events in your environment without having to wait for a polling interval. Sohail…

That seems like where this could go. Juniper has some similar feature to this. Not sure about the other vendors though. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

What issues are you seeing? Can you provide some details? Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

Right. You can add a Custom HTML Resource into your view and then using HTML, embed a stream of the camera. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems

Great idea! I use coffer.com weekly to do this myself.

Be sure to dig into the Email a Web Page action in that alert... specifically in the SQL string. It uses the default admin login with a blank password in it which is likely not its password anymore. This is where to look if those alerts dont contain all the top talker info embeded right in them. Sohail Bhamani LinkedIN:…

Proper Netflow v9 support would be great as well. Mapping v5 field out of a v9 packet is not enough anymore.

He hit the nail on the head for many of our clients as well. If I was to add anything it would be related to support of additional dhcp/dns software vendors. I see Infoblox quite a bit out in client environments. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

You guys make it hard to keep up with all the recent releases and new features! Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

Sounds excellent! Its always nice to see these products continue to gain features and abilities. Im looking forward to checking it out. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com

In my SolarWinds training classes, I try to enforce some small tasks folks can do on a daily basis to increase their impact while using SolarWinds products. This would be something you do every morning right when you get to work. It is meant to last just a few minutes in total. First, check the Top 10 page. The goal would…

Great news on the DB merge!!! Great work SWI!

It shouldnt be, but it is generally not recommended. Have you checked out the configuration wizard log file? Here is a KB on the log file locations and descriptions. Look at the end of it and see what it says. If you rerun the config wizard and check all 3 options (db, web, and services), does it finish? If there is a…

Im glad this is finally a topic. There are many end to end monitoring products out there none of which are from SolarWinds... yet I hope. You really need to have more information than what can be gleaned from SNMP and WMI in order to piece together the entirety of the story. I have run many systems in the past for various…

Oh cool Jeremy! That is exactly what most of our clients needed! Thanks for sharing! Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems

If you use the advanced alert manager and carefully craft your interface alerts, you will not have to do anything to have new interfaces be evaluated by the alert. Many folks use interface descriptions or custom properties to accomplish this today. Sohail Bhamani Loop1 Systems http://www.loop1systems.com
