Should be very useful feature, it should help operations to simply filter out events by departments, functions, locations, sub-locations etc. To highlight a simple example, we have a setup where a lot of Cisco stackable switches are used - they are Top of Rack switches, DMZ switches, access switches, distribution switches…

I agree, replica's cannot increase performance unless you use the replica that is stored on a better performance resource - higher disk IOPS, more CPU cores, maybe even more memory
