  • Matt, you are correct. The SNMP implementation on ESXi 4 and 4.1 is sketchy at best. What you see is what you get and you can forget CPU/memory etc. Interface and is it up are about all you get. I have seen hacks on some sites to maybe get more information but I'm not convinced they are workable or worth it.
  • Documentation and support have been sub-par from Orion since we started and its gone downhill ever since.
  • The problem we are seeing is that the Location field, supplied by SNMP service is present in a bunch of ICMP nodes. When you open up CPE we have three System property fields that are there as well (non-editable): IP address, caption and location. I have pulled open several of these ICMP nodes and it has Location setup as…
  • Is that 2003 you are referring to or 2008? I had heard of a 2008 issue but nothing with 2003.
  • We're not a huge shop so we don't have bunches and bunches of them. But we frequently have had APM templates setup for ONE machines apps (several components.. some may be HTTP most will be SNMP processes) and then have a alert tied to that single machine and its apps. What I would like to do is grab 10 or so app monitors…
  • I'm willing to accept that as a cause but how to I correct this. We did not have anywhere near this level of issues w/ 9.5.1. Roger
  • We use a advanced alert with a 10 minute interval. If its down for 10 whole minutes, then it is really down. Well, up to 2.5... then we started getting a lot of unknown applications.
  • Its been my experience that the nightly job, if running right, does not have an impact on polling. Which is good, because for us it takes 1-2 hours, not the 15 minutes for most of you. Also, I saw a post farther up about moving your DB to a SAN. While I am not convinced, SW has some good reasons for NOT using a SAN for DB…
  • No, we are using the default report folder. For that matter, I shut the reports off for the user with no difference. Just to make sure on the same page, I am using a view, not a report for the Availability. Rane
  • I will try that, except I will swap Node Status >= 2 to Node DOES NOT = Unmanaged, since it balks at using a number for that on my setup. I'll let you know but it seems like it should work.
  • Is there a upper limit on how many servers should be on a APM app? We have 64 citrix blades and they are each monitored for 18 APM components. We broke these into two APM templates and split them up so as to not overload. if we went with a windows APM (10 or so somponents) and applied it to each of our 400 or so windows…
  • Just a thought, based on what happened to us. We had a number of problems viewing the pages and finally tracked it down to a proxy setting on the browser that had it going outside the local network.
  • We had polling stop several times since NPM 10 Sp1. I heartily recommend a reboot of the poller and the SQL box as a start. We had issues with the DB connections timing out. Orion support busted our chops about running SQL on a VM on a SAN but its been that way since 7 and been running fine (course it may be that 10 is…
  • Never mind.. I found the scaling control.
  • We noted increased activity on the SQl box and some issues with connecting to the poller and a rather significant increase in the number of issues we have with getting devices into and out of un-managed mode. Other then that its been fine.
