I have seen some prices for cloud and hosting options. I still do not see a how it is cheaper. Cost plus the fuzziness of cloud operations concern many Sys Admins I know. RT

Nice Coding for the spread sheet. Thanks!

I love Otis Day and The Knights but I feel that Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem has a deeper catalog.

Thanks, I was going to mention that. RT

Not only is the information useful but now I am hearing that our help desk software (that was bought by a competitor) is "end of life" and we will need to move off of it before the end of 2016. I will be sending our companies evaluators for the replacement to check out SW WHD to see if it will be able to serve our needs. RT

Back in 1994, I was a sub-contractor working in at a large industrial complex in South Texas as a Novell CNE one day a week. I was tasked with building and maintaining servers, migrating from a Bindery to Novell Directory Services and from IPX/SPX to TCP/IP. They also moved from Ethernet hubs to switches on a FDDI…

What's Up Gold killed our HP Open View install In 2003. WUG was simple eazy and effective. Of course WUG was also buggy, crashed and would sometimes cry WOLF when it marked everything down. Hey someone reboot WUG!!! RT

Truly, Hedy Lamar, like Tesla, could approach a problem in a unique way and reveal complete solution. It is a shame that it took the military so long to adopt her solution. I wonder if they did not like her frequency hopping technique because she was a woman or because they did not invent it themselves? RT

I thought it went to 1500 licenses but when I looked up the number for this post I only saw the AL1100 max. Why pay $22K on top of my NPMx license for SAM? I feel it should be included. For goodness sake, this company pays for VOIP-NQM, WPM 20, IPAM 4000, NCM 500, NPMx, Patch Manager 2000, NTAx, UDT 10000, Toolset, Storage…

I did not reboot the firewall.....It was a vendor that was logged in at the time...but it did happen. Oops.

Generally for a Monthly Mission the points are added between the 7 and 15 day of the next month. Sometimes the Mission points are really hard for them to tally up and it takes a little longer. RT

Yesterday is was close to freezing here and I bought some breakfast taco's at Taco's and Salsa(a local shop near my house). When I got to my Ham Shack workspace it was 56 degrees. My tacos started getting cold.... I looked at my heater and thought....why not use it to keep them hot. So I had a perfect *Carne Guisada with…

The Compaq above was a beast! I replace the hard drive in one once and you would not believe the number of screws hold that together. Everything was shock mounted. Paul

Inside the mind of a user...... Our building has an intercom system. When it is used...almost every employee hears it. Fifteen years ago I heard. "Can someone from IT please call 'User Manager' at extension xxxx" I'll bite so I called the manager. She was having an issue booting up so I went to her desk. At this time, all…

Last month, the CISSP has moved to an adaptive test format. No more 250 question, 6 hour brain melting slog of a test. Now it is set for adaptive from 100 to 150 questions and a max of four hours. Depending on one's ability to learn a vast amount of security related information and apply the information to various…
