Novell was a really nice and predictable system back in the day. Some days I miss it. RT

superfly99 HP Openview was a very admin intensive product. It has needs...lots of them. RT

johnny ringo, the missions are really fun. Most monthly mission questions and actions are really easy while others are very hard. When you crack the hard question it is very satisfying. If you miss it, oh well. Doing a mission gets you between 2500 and 3000 points. Geek Speak is a another great to stay involved and get…

Anticipating to the needs of the organization, adapting the tools on hand and adding new capability will be needed for everyone for a while. Anticipate - Adapt - Add New Paul

After finishing the this months mission I feel that the site should play "Mission Impossible" by Lalo Schifrin while scrolling credits of the excellent people that created the mission. Thanks to involved! RT Patching will continue until security improves!

We saw the same traffic and did the same proceedure to stop UDP 137 scanning. The security team was happy. So are the System Admins. Have a well monitored day!

I am on-call this weekend. If I get called out I will install NPM 10.7........after a proper database backup and a snapshot of the VM. One day many years ago, I was lax and did not backup the configuration of an appliance before an upgrade. Of course the unit was having a trouble booting after the upgrade and I was really…

Maybe better as once every two months. Some will have to travel a few miles. RT

Sounds like fun! I will check with the boss. RT

wolram we had to re-run the 6.2.1 upgrade before installing the LEM 6.2.1-hotfix1. LEM is now rated a "B" and it will go to an "A" when Development gets the Slowloris issue fixed/polished/masked/stomped. This is quite an achievement and my executives are taking note of these latest changes in security posture. Please thank…

The issue in the original post has been fixed in the current release. Unfortunately, other issues have come up.....

I am happy to report that the Critical level issue Java Deserialization Remote Code Execution remote rmi 10009 TCP is fixed!!!! I got a call today from support and they were able to get this one off my issues list. One down, two to go! RT

This is not a fix but a possible direction. The VMan team used a command similar to the code below except the xxxxx was the port number that was a problem. sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport xxxxx -s 127.0.0.0/8 -d 127.0.0.0/8 -j ACCEPT sudo /etc/init.d/iptables save RT

What I would like to see in the store is a full zip Bicycle Jersey.....something like this but done by the "kick butt graphics team" at Solarwinds! I should have put the logo on the back across the rear pocket. I wear a Camelbak to stay hydrated in the South Texas heat. The Camelbak would block the logo if it was high.…

I did this without even trying......... Radioteacher

You guys are too kind. I have enjoyed the time I have invested here in my education and I am always happy to help others. RT

If you are running a ftp software that writes to the logs, all the data will be there but how do you find it. The answer is LEM. With Log and Event Manager you can find the log files for the transfer and see who sent what to whom and when. Its as easy as a Google search with built in nDepth search tool in LEM. There is…

If you edit the settings on each device can you get a successful test on the TEST button for the configuration. Are you logging in as a local account or TACACS? If it is a local account, you might want to make a separate local account on the switch for Solarwinds NCM. Do you have reporting emailing you a report of the…

Tulsi, Thanks for all the work your team does to provide a uniform look and feel for the products. RT

Kevin, I highlighted the steps in NCM 7.1.1 that you can use to get the reports. CONFIGS | Inventory | Node Details | Backup Status or YYYY Config. Enjoy Radioteacher

rschroeder I can make queries but I do not know the database that well. Maybe zackmshuth van assist. RT

Do you have NTA? If yes, use the explorer to build what you want. RT

I wish I could help you on that database location. We have used UDT for location and security work for about two years. UDT is now embedded in our processes. We are not getting rid of UDT but since activating an 802.1X product I see the day that the process changes to do lookups there instead of UDT. We can look by user,…

DanielleH When I posted my first reply and it was in Moderation I sent out a message to not approve if they wish. I really did not want to hijack the post on this fine module. Basically, I gave them permission to hold it. gminks asked, so I told her my feelings on the licensing of SAM. A story you and others have heard too…

I am away from the console until next week but would enjoy working with the UX team Next Thursday. RT
