Hey kbongi, Show us that thing that is going to replace Atlas! RT

Check the time, and time zones on every SolarWinds server. The Web server, Polling servers and the SQL servers. Set them all to pick up time from the Domain (which should get time from NTP sources). If you run LEM and Linux based software point them to NTP sources. RT

Congratulations! I know I have been moving slower here while I study to earn a few more certifications. The highest I ever made it was 14th. Now I'm down to 21st and that is OK. To crack the top 20 you 250K. RT

I want to buy a few shares just I can tell people "I own Solarwinds" when they ask about my shirts. RT

We live in interesting times. RT

If you have a Pi Day Party, pictures or it did not happen. RT

Are there any other characters that I need to watch out for?

Look what I received from the Royal Mail today!!! Thanks, Pi Hut! Rasberry Pi Zero W!

Here is a picture from Pi 2014.

This thread can be used as proof. Factual evidence, that Solarwinds listens and responds to its user base! Everybody have a great week! RT

I have a link in Orion that pulls a report from SCCM. The report shows the host IP, hostname andlast user to login to that host. All I do is search for the IP or hostname and it gives me the User ID from the report. I then query the directory for the username and phone number. It would be nice if this was automated. RT

I might have found the answer for Snort but not LEM. From The Anatomy of a Attack Identify Null Sessions with IDS If the registry changes or firewall rules mentioned earlier break the functionality of network applications, then you must switch to a reactive approach rather than a proactive one. Rather than preventing…

Back in the day about 20 years ago....I had a shell account. Anyone use Lynx? So after a while I got a dial up ISP account that I could web surf on, it was fun. Now I could start to do real surfing with http!!! Later in the month, I went to the home of my Amateur Radio mentor. For two weeks he had Netscape on Windows 3.1…

Other than troubleshooting, how do you make use of your flow data? Answering the daily question....Why is _______ slow? How often do you look at flow data summaries, and in what form (on-demand via HTML form, automated reporting, CLI top-talkers, etc.)? At least once a day. Summaries have the side effect of masking more…

Other than troubleshooting, how do you make use of your flow data? Pinpoint traffic issues. Most issues are self inflicted by users. How often do you look at flow data summaries, and in what form (on-demand via HTML form, automated reporting, CLI top-talkers, etc.)? The Top xx Netflow Sources by % Utilization is always up…

Monitoring the status of a Windows Service using NPM only I was wondering if this is possible now with NPM 10.3 using WMI to poll the server?
-
Like cahunt I created two views NOC-Square and NOC-Wide. NOC-Square is a two column view and has seven pages to cycle through. 1) Simple Map on Left. Node Tree and Interfaces with High Percent Usage and Top 10 Netflow Sources by % Utilization on Right 2) Top 10 Interfaces by Percent Utilization on Left and Top 14…

SAM should come with NPM and not be an add on module. Every Exchange or SQL server can take 50 licenses....that is just silly. 150 licenses....3 servers....what? RT
-
I am a member as well! RT
-
I finished up NCM, NTA, SRM, VIM and Vman. Now I will double check to see if anything got missed. RT
-
I am already dragging when starting the NCM install. Caffeine? RT
-
OK NPM VNQM and SAM have been updated with one HF and a patch. Oh yeah, I also updated other stuff on a list I keep on 3 by 5 note cards. Tomorrow I will tackle NCM, NTA, SRM, VIM and Vman. Good night royals of Solarwinds; leaders of monitoring. RT

The key date we use for Cisco is the "End of SW Maintenance Releases" date. Because if we can no longer patch and maintain the OS we cannot secure device. It would be nice to add that date to the EOL data. Thanks, Radioteacher

What I did not mention for operational security reasons, on Wednesday I was in Aruba on vacation. What will you wear next Wednesday? RT P.S. Get out of the office once and a while!

Google news now shows 63 articles on DROWN. I am sure the bigger news agencies will pick it up by the end of the week. RT

Happy Pi day!!

It is nice to have a random excuse to get the teams together for a fun. We set the meeting on 3.14 at 1:59 PM. From Pi Day 2017 From Pi Day 2018 prize!

SAM should be a base feature of Orion and not a license.
-
I have been saying for years that SAM licensing is a mess. This is a big step in the wrong direction. For years I have said that MS SCOM is free with System Center licensees. It is like they heard the customer and said....nope we are going to charge you even more money for what others give away. Paul
