Thank you Marie :)

hmm, from our experience this will still fire the alerts as soon as you uncheck this box, all alarms that cleared before the box is unchecked will not be sent though, therefore I think it would not serve your purpose. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
-
thanks, unknown wont work for us but i'll try to figure something out to make it go critical or down and of course try the implementation you suggested.

Hi, do you have an example somewhere on how to run a commandlet and parse its results using vbscript and windows script monitor? I just dont know where to get started...
-
so was I... I was also hoping traps and syslogs could set the node itself into warning status (for example when a UPS is on battery). oh well... maybe next time
-
as there are others needing this, I would suggest to have a global option to turn warnings on or off with the warning linking to the page where you can disable the warning.
-
oh, sorry then... my bad. no that one isn't available on node details for me either, although i dont know why it wouldnt be...
-
it would definitely be something we are looking for as well. depending on what the maintenance task is, we either unmanage the devices or leave them managed. however this renders availability reports useless for us as planned maintenance cannot be excluded. Why dont you create a feature request for a "maintenance mode"? I…

The "normal" packet loss alert calculates the packet loss based on how many probes get lost to the node, it does not actually read out a value! As NPM does not probe interfaces (because you cant :P) you couldn't just do the same thing on interfaces. Still, if you just change the type of monitor to interface, you will only…

Hi harrijs, that you actually can find in your customer portal... www.solarwinds.com/.../wwhelp.htm
-
yup, I agree... I have already sent Francois a feature request that would cover this use-case as I think this would be a pretty common use-case. I also think that full regex support for exotic requirements should stay as well, a regex-creator implemented into NCM would not make sense as that would never be advanced enough…
-
Hi Francois, I am still waiting for your email response to the two questions I had (including this one) were you able to get some information?
-
Hi Smargh, you can actually write alerts that alert you if the status of a volume gets unknown! NPM is not made for WMI, WMI would be for more "advanced" monitoring where you would need APM for (there you could also use vbscript to monitor free space if you really want, we do that with some mapped folders). I also made the…

Hi Ronit, I think you used a different resource I was talking about but currently I am very busy and am unable to assist you further. Please open up a support ticket and if you have active maintenance with solarwinds they will surely and gladly help you out =)
-
are you planning on implement user tracking where every user can be found by IP or MAC? thats the one function I am missing from ciscoworks.
-
How do you even do this Global Config Search on the web interface? I cant seem to find anything to do this.
-
I agree to pserwe.
-
sorry, I edited my post while you were responding... I uploaded it now
-
thats actually the first thing i was looking for... so yes, +1 for this request (we are not yet using RTCD because it doesn't work yet)
-
oh man.... I really should pay attention as to where people post their issues... at least my problems are not related to the toolset but to NPM/NCM, the switchport mapper works just fine :P sorry for the confusion

Hey, this feature would be awesome! It is because Orion does not do this that I had to create about 300-400component monitors on APM which all poll SNMP values to alert on devices in a meaningful way as noone knew what those cryptic traps ment... I created a feature request here: although even if you implement better traps…
-
really? how?

Orion does not actually shrink its own database... the maintenance task it does is moving data from detail table to hourly table and from hourly to daily. you would still have to shrink the database if you want to. not sure if orion does automatic re-indexing but as far as I know our dba's do this as well on a regular basis
-
mhh, 2? you mean two per remote site, right? At least thats the way I always thought it would work... If you have a lot of remote sites its starts to be too many alerts again...
-
hi rgward, you only need to add a single interface of any device for all of the collected data to be added if you ran the discovery manually, you can delete that single interface afterwards too. if it ran by schedule (i.e. you have it running every sunday night) it will populate the collected data automagically :)
-
both alarms separately work just fine... the thing is i want to alarm on the second but get the status from the first....
-
wow... absolutely nothing seems to work with that NPM syslog... If I add a rule to replace " with ' the whole rule gets messed up and sometimes the syslog crashes...
-
also on Windows 7?
-
Hi, just to clarify though, if you acknowledge the alert, your boss doesnt get the alert but he will get an alert reset email if you have configured it to do so... you cant only send the alert reset if you have acknowledged an alert
-
sometimes I think new features never get tested by anyone but the programmer in his lab environment ;)
