Hey Marie, thank you. unfortunately, just "executing an external program" and then running path\configautodownloader.exe {IP} (or similar) does not download the configs for me... I was asking this question because in the NCM Admin Guide I found the following: Requirements To utilize realtime configuration change detection…

hmmm... maybe I misunderstood you... could it be possible that you dont mean the "nodes with problems" resource but the messages written to the event logs instead? you can delay these by 2 hours as well in their options in the alert.
-
yea... "does not contain" would be a nice addition... also in the report writer... its the only reason I use "none" and "not all"
-
well, I didnt really think of reports in the traditional way for this report writer... I was hoping for the stuff to be implemented so you can basically create your own customized resources where solarwinds didnt quite create them the way you need them on your website. basically I would love to be able to re-create the…

and we didnt even open a case for this sorting issue... ;-) However we also have a case open for not being able to filter sql-reports (Case#211603) and a case where if you schedule a pdf report on an advanced sql report, the formatting is whacky (Case#214704) where we also noted that admin passwords are exposed in clear…

maybe a UnDP to see the amount of active IPSEC tunnels? if a set number is fine for you... or you want to alert whenever it changes...
-
I would definitely vote for being able to turn off that its showing in the config...
-
with this change template you only need to enter the password and the rest will be done for you.... if you just want to distribute a few lines of set configurations to all cisco devices id say that executing command scripts would be the best way you just enter conf t config line 1 config line 2 config line 3 config line 4…

I guess you would have to bring this up as a feature request
-
yes

unfortunately the remote system does not have an smtp server... i would just let a small exe run that would log into a webmail account via smtp and send a text-email... I was hoping that Orion would be able to pass variables to the script like myscript.vbs ${user} ${pass}. If I would do it from the local host and the…

4.0 is currently in release candidate status, general availability will be announced but I am sure if you are on active maintenance and request macnugetz (Craig McDonald, APM Product Manager) to provide you the release candidate, they will let you test it as well (if your company allows you to install release candidates in…

yes, and but the important one I need (battery failure) I could not find anywhere...
-
PS: I have also opened a support case (#193695) I noticed though that most of the time, if we wait long enough, the list resources eventually finishes after a few minutes and you can continue to add the resources if you do so quickly after it finishes (so you have to keep looking at the screen and not just check back every…

actually i never installed notepager as we dont even have a gsm modem yet. what i said is that their support is basically non existent... my problem is that i need to be able to relay from the orion installation to another server as the orion server is in the datacenter where there is no cellphone reception... it would be…

I haven't used ipmonitor but we are using APM, for our use-cases it is still too buggy in its current version (has been ever since we purchased with (I believe it was version 3.0) about 1,5years ago). We are hoping that the bugs will be fixed soon and that we will finally be able to use APM, maybe before the 2year mark :P…
-
sorry then, I never even heard of the product... 8years old... wow :P What exactly is this spftware supposed to do? Maybe management can be convinced to buy a newer version with more features and more importantly: support I am however pretty sure that if you only need the admin guide and solarwinds still has this admin…

Hey Christine, the improved policy reporter sounds interesting, what kind of improved inventory reports are you talking about? I hope something like this: will be possible natively (that report is the only useful report we use from NCM). Looking forward to the GA release (we dont do the RCs in production environment)! PS:…

anyhow, a solution to alert on events would be cool! =)
-
yea... you can EITHER export it as a pdf once (with normal reports only) OR email a certain webpage as email. However if you send it as an email, it will have incorrect links in the HTML email. However Solarwinds says this is wanted behaviour, apparently they like errors that annoy customers. Anyhow, no way to schedule to…
-
Hi MFA, he did. For a poller you need nothing more than the OID he listed. What would be more interesting is a custom report that you can use as a resource within orion which would combine those three pollers. @rgward: If you have that, please do share :)
-
as alterego said, it is included in NPM 10.1, if you have version 10, you can download the unmanage scheduler from your customer portal under additional tools... however if you use a version of NPM below 10, you cannot use this feature afaik.

We have the same issue, with APM4 this got much better. one major reason for this was that we ran NPM on Windows 2008 R2 which as a WMI memory leak, this fixed some of the problems, most of our other unknown alarms relate to win 2008 r2 servers which cannot be polled and we assume that this will be fixed once the change to…
-
yeah... I wouldnt even mind adding all services to APM as we have an ALX but we dont want to get notified if excel is down on a terminalserver :P
-
doesnt work for us... too many errors on the solarwinds server for that :P also the main issue why orion stops alarming for us is that it loses the connection to the database... and last but not least... we could monitor it with OpManager even but I am trying to get rid of OpManager :P
-
well, we actually want to get away from exactly that. The strategy was to consolidate to only one monitoring tool but this one thing is really keeping us from that goal...
-
I agree... I administer the whole system as a network administrator so its ok for me to use the syslog viewer for this (if it wouldn't have been broken for over a year by now for me and support would finally find a solution to this). if event logs are forwarded via syslog, this would be nice for non-orion admins or at…

I used to have that before too, it was whenever something was re-indexed... It seems like ever since 9.5.1 this has been fixed for me, it seems to automatically detect that it was re-indexed
-
any progress here? we are currently implementing nexus which is why I am asking... (also seem to have some troubles with it in NCM)
