Thanks Jiri!

Solarwinds supports SNMPv3 and I am sure if you have a current maintenance contract they will gladly assist you in setting NPM up with your SNMPv3 switch. but maybe the forum can help you as well if you elaborate a bit more. What exactly fails? Explain the steps you are doing and where it fails.

sorry that it took so long for me to respond but i wanted to verify that it works.... works like a charm for me! Thanks a lot!
-
btw, when will this be fixed that orion re-adds all nodes, interfaces and volumes everytime a database connection is lost?
-
this only works in the basic alert manager as far as i know (which I dont use). It has not been implemented in the advanced alert manager and I dont think it is planned for the near future either (though I dont know that)
-
yea... and of course be able to alert on it! But I have been saying that ever since I installed the trial version... For me its definately the most important issue right now!
-
#1 - Would I just have to give them the menu bar button "Admin"? #2 - Something where I can restrict users from using something like Welcome01 and instead force them to use upper and lower case as well as special characters like $@# etc. I do prefer to use AD rather than Orion as we already have those policies in place…
-
it would still be cool if maps would be interchangeable...
-
yup, I would also appreciate being able to format the email but thats more nice to have for me. I can live without it but it would make it look nicer... anyhow, for me I would also say +1 for me, however I would prefer other features to be fixed first and/or other more important features to be added/improved.
-
this is no real-time alerting... you would need to configure snmp-traps for this... otherwise check how often orion polls your custom pollers, it probably isnt 10seconds... for flapping you really need to configure snmp-traps... but orion isn't really the best tool for this use-case
-
I havent tried the second method either (I wouldnt be able to... this is just to "manual")... however I never found a solution to this, not in the guide either... i am pretty much guessing that every orion user would use that function.
-
please post it here if you find out =)
-
I think thats the best way to go at it as long as the time difference isn't too big (for larger time differences where your business hours would fall into the previous or next day you would need to make an advanced sql report)
-
well, it seems like messages get cut off from time to time, i guess the program (self written by I dont know who) isnt flawless. so a solution with a different program would be fine as well :P
-
hmm, is there no other solution to make Orion execute one line of code on a remote machine? What I am trying to do is use an smtp send mail program to send an email from a remote server that the internet link is down (as the internet line at this location would be down and I need to use another locations internet link to…
-
We also have some questions regarding the MAPI monitor, I opened Case#178906 for this: 1.) How long does the Monitor wait for the email to arrive until it declares the monitor as down? 2.) How exactly does the Monitor handle the mailflow? Is it correct that it sends all emails through the entered SMTP Server to the…
-
that would be really cool, splunk is one of the very few tools we haven't replaced with solarwinds products yet...
-
but i think on syslog i would have to create an alarm on each interface or consider several up/down messages as flapping no matter which interface that would be?
-
which system administrator are you talking about? I also noticed the lsass.exe process taking a ton of cpu-time on my orion server sometimes...
-
you got a template or the queries for that?
-
Hi, I monitor with this: and as this cannot alarm in case there is an issue, i have a separate sql-alert on something similar.
-
I would open a support case but I bet you anything that solarwinds will tell you that it is a microsoft issue :-P
-
yea :D thanks for pointing it out for me =)
-
+1 :P Our management keeps asking for this as well...
-
all sounds very interesting (except of FIPS which I dont even know :P ), looking forward for its release (which I guess wont be before october/november)
-
with version 8.2 all ASAs support netflow... http://www.cisco-tips.com/cisco-asa-netflow-support-%E2%80%93-netflow-security-event-logging-nsel/
-
I wouldnt say poor overall support... Just a lot of "Tier1"s that make life harder... I think support needs better communication with the team and the customer. There are exceptions of course... I have had one specific person from support I have almost always had a lot of troubles with and my mood goes down when I just see…
-
maybe an optional upgrade package for 24x7 support would be possible... adding the cost to the yearly maintenance (so there would be 2 maintenance plans, standard and extended (not premium, that makes it sound as others are getting crappy support) ) EDIT: whoops, the_toilet beat me to it :P
-
yes, our provider has that as well... However we want to have an SMS-gateway to be able to alert when the internet connection is down too
-
that looks like the Engineers Toolset plugin is being polled for info...
