what is the reason for not showing the encrypted password? if you have service password-encryption set and you only use secret instead of password, is that not enough? I am just asking because I wouldnt show anyone my config that I wouldnt trust giving the encrypted password to.

hmm, I used to have a polling engine completion of around 99+% but now I have ~98.7-98.8% Should I worry about that? How do I see if polling data is lost?

l also think that this would be a benificial report, I have also been looking for a "Which IPs have been changed in the last X days" for certain subnets (like server, dmz, management, etc.)
-
didnt even know you could do that... :P i knew of the logforwarder but didnt know its possible to run a compliance report on it. definitely sounds interesting thought (as do many other things...) I think we will make use of the logforwarder once we finished deploying NPM and the modules we purchased.

When I read your post I thought maybe our implementation will help others too... this only works on cisco devices which support the mentioned OID's though

Hi, thank you guys for your answers but that was two years ago ;-) I no longer work in germany nor for the same company anymore. Thanks anyhow and hopefully someone else can make use of these contacts here! Chris

Thank you.

but the "none" and "not all" are buggy and currently "not all" functionality is exchanged by "none" and I dont know how this behaviour will change with updates in the future which is why I would like to avoid this as SolarWinds strongly recommends not to use those at all.

Orion IPAM is quite awesome, if you need several people to have easy access with different access rights to it. I havent used the "IPAM" within the Engineers Toolset but I am happy with IPAM. If you dont use Orion NPM and dont have a lot of people accessing IPAM its probably not worth it. I wouldnt know why the database…

its not really that old and I think the more people post here that they want this, the more likely it is to be considered for a future release, maybe even for 10.3 ;-)
-
I really need to learn how to articulate myself :P What you said was supposed to be included in what I wrote...
-
While I agree that this does not really belong to APM (also APM is already so feature rich, it could use a polishing of these features instead, like impersonation for powershell, nagios scripts without the need of an extra server, etc.) but should go to NPM instead (I'd consider this network health rather than application…

actually you would need two component monitors to see a change, one to alert when the value goes up and one for when the value goes down or am I incorrect? I dont think you can do it with setting a different value for warning as the choice on alerting on <,>,<=,>= is set for both warning and critical. please correct me if…

Hi Mike, I'd be really interested to know how exactly you will map your syslogs to your APM-groups, as far as I know this is a requested feature but currently not possible
-
Hi Andy, is there any way for alert suppressing that is officially supported and doesnt require tons of separate alarms? I have searched everywhere but havent found a suitable solution...
-
I am not too fond with CDR but as far as I know the CDR's are sent by the callmanagers, solarwinds would basically need to make a whole new tool to evaluate and use that kind of data to be able to report on it. unfortunately not as simple as just polling on the data you want. :(
-
Hi Dawn, as a workaround within NPM Syslog you can create a file like c:\Syslog\${Hostname}_${Year}-${Month}.log This is actually a bug but this will nonetheless create a file for you for each device for every day, if you dont want a separate one for each device, just leave out the hostname part! If you don't have any…

@darkshooter: ${CustomPoller.Status} @viol8tor: I didnt know you could use SQL queries in the alerts... I will try that next week, thanks!
-
1.) yes 2.) because I dont want the alarms to stop working in case the pollers get renamed... whats the problem with OID?
-
Well, actually I only want to "trigger" on the second trigger, which triggers once the TempStatus is "Warning" or higher (in this case I set it to fire even in "OK"). The first "trigger" I would set to trigger even on 0 degrees so iw would always be true. I did that, thinking that you would be able to request the Status…

thats not solarwinds orion though and does not relate to this problem... @Shane: did the website change at all? try putting in the whole complete URL that you is in your browsers URL AFTER the page loaded. if that doesnt work, try also changing to MSIE 6.0 string to MSIE 8.0 or MSIE 7.0 as some webpages react differently…
-
that would be an awesome report actually... I havent bothered in trying to create it as it seems very complicated but I think very useful to a lot of people! Especially very nice to show for that yearly audit... if anyone manages to create a report, please share it! :)
-
Wow, reply to a very old thread... Anyways, here are your answers: 1.) Yes, just change the OID I used (which is for Celsius) to the one for Fahrenheit (just look it up with e.g. a MIB Browser) 2.) You are correct, now it is called Custom Poller Status, not sure why you can only select UP though, thought you would be able…
-
Hi Danielle, I did read that post before but I was hoping there would be some kind of workaround for #2, like at least hiding the nodes in NPM or something... I could however not find a clue about question #1
-
Hi, if there are gaps in report data but there is lots of RAM and even more CPU resources left, would that indicate the need for an additional poller? if so, what exactly is the reason for this?
-
Hi, Mark, isnt this only to restrict views? I think hjarriell wants them to see their own nodes as well as other nodes but only be able to modify "their own" nodes. (this, as far as I know, is currently not possible) I think this would be a great feature, even though I probably wouldn't use it much...
-
currently there is no way to do this with the report writer. I have seen this request many times and I have tried to request this feature many times as well. If you want to be heard, post this feature request in the feature request section so that the product manager knows how many people want this feature! I personally…
-
if you really want to do it that way you could set it for >1000, that way it won't alarm on just high latency... but try if it even works this way... I have never tried that and wouldnt know what happens if the response time is null or something like that... if that doesnt work you could try to negate it to something like…
