The EntityType that Byron is referring to requires that you view the database directly through something like Database Manager. AH. I thought as much ... Stepping back to the Advanced SQL report for a minute, do you have results for the following query? SELECT Nodes.NodeID AS NodeID, Nodes.Caption AS Node_Name<br />FROM…

When you look at the Nodes table in your database there is a column called EntityType. Still not following you. Look at Nodes *how*? You mean by creating a new report, and adding a field? If so, then no, I do not see anything called "EntityType". Here's what I did - I created a new report, based on "Inventory". When I go…

I saw the same thing in my ESX 3.5I environment. As byrona posted earlier in this thread, if you have ESX v4 (VCenter), you should see the actual virtual machine names. I have ESX 4.1 Update 1, and vCenter 4.1. I do not see any options to add a field that says anything about "Virtualization". The ESX servers are being…

If you choose the "Inventory" report type from scratch, you will see Interface menus. Ok, so I started all over again from scratch, choosing the "Inventory" report type, and this time I *am* seeing the Interfaces" menu, so I can do as you suggest. And that (almost) seems to be working. I say "almost", since I seem to have…

If you choose the "Inventory" report type from scratch, you will see Interface menus. That's what I originally did - choose an "Inventory" type report to create what I have so far. So I have to scrap it all, and start over from scratch?

I don't have an option to add "Interfaces". I do not see it in the "Node Details", when I go to add this SELECT field. (I can't seem to insert a screenshot ...) I don't know why I don't have an option to add it, but all I have are "Node Details", "Volumes', and "Polling Engines" as options to choose, after I add a field.…

I was expecting it to be tie to the VCenter information, so, no, I do not get the level of detail that is needed. So, PHA, if you are using VCenter, you should be able to get the data you are after now thanks tho byrona. All you would have to do is adjust the space availability threshold to the value you want in the SQL…

Great! Thank you SO much. I am off tomorrow, but I will try that Monday, when I get back. Thanks for all the help.

No, our naming convention does not contain anything that identifies a machine a s a VM rather than a physical server. So there's no way to sort all my nodes in any order that keeps just the VMs together. And that's still a clunky work-around. So there's no easy way to get a report on free space on my nodes that are just…

Currently I have 95 VMs, with more coming. So even a custom variable is not an ideal situation, since I'd have to enter it 95 times, and remember to enter on every new VM that gets added. It's hard to believe that the capability to choose both volume information and VM information is not available without some customized…

When you are done with your Trigger Condition, go to "Trigger Actions" tab, click "Add New Action", select "Send an E-Mail / Page"... Thanks, but what I can't seem to figure out is how to set the trigger ... none of the conditions available seem to be what I need to do. I'm sure the info is in there, somewhere, but I am…

So you have SNMP access to these both working correct? If yes, then you will need to submit the SysOID to us to include in the next release cycle so it does not show as Unknown. As far as I can see, yes, SNMP access is defined, activated and working on both devices. I will submit the SysOID (once I can find it ...) after…

Might have partially answered it. On the iLO configuration, you can set "SNMP Pass Thru". If you do, it passes along the values from the OS as if they belonged to the iLO. If you disable that, then it properly shows iLO entries as type "Unknown". However, it names the entry as the IP address - i.e., it is not doing a DNS…

There Vendor seems to always be "Windows", regardless of whether it is a VM or a physical machine. I see on the ESX reports that those reports have fields that come from a drop down called "Virtual Machines". The fields on that look to be what I want. But how do I get that as a drop down choice on my "Select" fields? The…

That's what I thought. And that's what I don't understand - how in the Alerting Manager do I define these triggers. Perhaps I am posting in the wrong forum, but when I go to create a new alert, what I am seeing (when I choose "APM: Application" or "APM:Component" as the property to monitor, I am not seeing anything that…

I take that back; I did find the MIBs.CFG. But I don't see anywhere on the KB article you posted, where to download an updated version of the MIB. I have a Barracuda and a Juniper SSG140 firewall that I'd like to monitor, and both are coming up as "Unknown".

I have the same issue - the HP ILO boards are being recognized as the OS of the server (which is incorrect - the ILO boards are not running Windows 2008, for example, the server is). And which each ILO board has it's own unique IP address and DNS name, the sonar scan is showing the DNS name of the server that the board is…

Hi PHA-- Couple of things to try. Take a look at this tip and make sure you followed all the instructions. I will do that, thanks. But I see no file called "MIBs.cfg" on my Win2008 server anywhere ... Question: you mention that your searches indicate that your MIBs should be included--which searches? I searched the forums…

OK ... but I see the same thing (Avg Mem Used equal to Total Physical Memory, not Physical Mem in use) on non-Domino servers. I have servers running BEA WebLogic and it's Tuxedo product that are also showing as 2G Avg Memory Used (which is the total physical memory), and not the 1.4G that TaskMgr and the Physical Memory…

Most of the Remote Insight Boards in my HP servers show up as "Unknown", and do not have any SysObjectID at all. Others are virtual machines on my VMware ESX servers, also with no SysObject IDs. Others are HP servers, again - no SysObjectIds. Still others are EMC Centerra SAN Appliances, with no SysObjectIDs listed. All…

Will the Description field from the Nodes table work for you? It will. However, the "iOSVersion" field is easier, I think, as it lists only OS version, and the "Description" field also includes CPU type and other extraneous information. So, by filtering on "IOSVersion" contains "6.1 (Build 7600", I can get Win 2008 R2…

dude go to manage nodes, switch to interfaces view using the pull down at the top. then use the search box to enter a pattern that exist in all interfaces and you are there (just select al and delete) I honestly didn't know I could do that. DUH! So simple, once you're shown how ... Thanks! to stop the re-discovering...…

Thanks. That does it. But how do I specify that the node has to be a VM? When I go add a new field under "Select Fields" or "Filter", I only see "Node","Volumes" and "Polling Engine" as choices; nothing that indicates any of the VM attributes to select to report on, or filter by.

Since I did not have these templates, nor did I know about them ... no, I haven't looked at them yet. Thanks! I will start from here. One last question ... how do you set the monitoring to generate an email, when the condition is triggered? Isn't that a function of the alerts, and not these application monitor templates?…

Never mind; I seem to have solved it .. .looks like I was wrong, and it was using the wrong SNMP community. Upon further consultation with my switch guy, we determined that he changed the SNMP community earlier, when I asked him to, and I changed the SNMP community on the discovery. BUT ... I didn't change it on the node…

Here is what Tech Support had me do (as manual maintenance): You will need to do the following. Database Essential Maintenance *** IMPORTANT NOTE *** Please make sure to have a recent backup of your database as the following instructions will make permanent changes to your database Before doing anything please open Orion…

So I am all migrated. Odd that no one replied in any way. :-) But anyway, I decided to make the new server the same name and IP as the old server, so after de-activating the licenses, and re-assigning them, it all seems to work now. So this is all done.

I figured out that I had to use SQL Management Studio to do the restore. Here's a copy of a conversation I am having with Solarwinds: I have a further question: I am migrating to new hardware, but I want to maintain the old server name. I am finishing the setup of the new server (which still has it's new name, as the…
