How many elements are & nested maps are in your Map? Are you loading this in the main page with other node info? Mapmaker is very DB intensive. Your map may be timing out before it can pull all the data from the DB. I suggest loading the map on a dedicated page & reducing the number of nested maps.

Thanks zizi, My point is this should be a button/feature in Orion, as doing manual database query updates is not a function that general users should be performing. I will submit this as a feature request.

Agreed. Also AD integration only works for internal groups. If a customer is accessing Orion over the Internet, then using AD integration is not an option, unless the Orion server joins the customer's domain internally somehow. Most companies would not allow this in any case.

So I un-installed DotNetFX2.0 SP1 and tried to install DotNetFX 3.0 and it generated the dd_WIC.txt file: [dd_WIC.txt] 0.063:================================================================================ 0.063: 2008/03/18 16:10:51.121 (local) 0.063: c:\0eda5a8d2327f2986b1c5a7578b32b\update\update.exe (version 6.3.4.0)…

Thanks Denny. I was reading the release notes for V9.1 SP1 and I see there is an advanced search feature? Does this do what I'm after? I see you've also fixed the ability to copy and paste the URL for charts - nice. Now I can upgrade my SLX install from V8.1 :-D

Thanks Michal, Will this allow a search by subnet or subnet description/vlan? Back in the old days when I was using Solarwinds toolset IPAM, each subnet had it's own URL (when results where exported to a web page). Now this is very basic functionality which is missing from the current day IPAM. What I'm after is to be able…

Using the Firefox Mozilla browser, hit <Ctrl +> or <ctrl -> to increase or decrease all the fonts on the screen :-D Hit F11 to go Full Screen.

You should really open a support case for this, but here are a couple more things to check. Are you using the hostname or IP for discovering the new node? Do you have IPv6 enabled on your Orion server? You may want to disable this if you are not using it. Go to this link on your Orion server and click on the appropriate…

I'm getting conflicting information regarding the migration path from V8.1 to V10.1.3 I opened case #275566 to get the downloads for the intermediate versions. I was told: Here is all the information about this upgrade…

For max performance, your SQL server should have enough RAM to run the whole DB in Memory. 1Gb is barely enough for the OS. Desktop and Laptops are shipping with 2 - 4Gb nowadays, so adding more memory to your SQL server should be the first thing you do. Under Advanced Features open the Database Manager and check the total…

Here was my original request for this - 2 years ago: Most of the top 5 features I was looking for are already covered here, but I just came across a cool idea. I just installed RSS ticker on my PC. Having Orion generate a custom XML RSS news feed would be a great feature. You could then keep one eye on the pulse of your…

If you want the links to work in e-mailed reports, then you must include the complete URL with the server name. The built-in link only uses a relative link /netperfmon/..... You need to prepend it with http://orionservername in the report writer field. You can do this for interfaces as well, but you must add (& hide) the…

First create a backup of your SQL2000 MSDE DB. Then restore the flat file to SQL2005 Express. Now install Orion 8.5 & point to new DB: \\SQLExpress\<DB_Name>

Have you tried creating a new login ID with a separate (new) Menu Bar? If you make all your pages in this custom Menu only 1 column, then it should display better on your mobile device.
-
Has this feature been added to NCM V7? If so, I might be enticed to upgrade from V6.1. I'd like to be able to right click in the web page and select Export to Excel, similar to most other Orion web reports.

Some device types do not support 64 bit counters. SNMP stats stop collecting when 64 bit counters are enabled. I have not run into any Cisco devices that do not support 64 bit counters.

Bryan, I did some testing with the polls per second tuning. What I found was when I increased the polls/sec above the recommended values (I even tried doubling it at on point) the % completion rate was significantly reduced. By tuning the polls below the recommended value the completion rate increased, but it still does…

Chris, looks like this was addressed a few days ago with SP1 for 8.5.1:

Please turn off the shared memory connection on your SQL DB as per this post - "> (I just figured this out myself yesterday after weeks of troubleshooting trying to get my SL2000 install moved to a new server and new remote DB).

Create a single column page with the same width as your Plasma screen resolution. Once the web page is displayed, then hit F11 and it will be displayed full screen. As for the logout timer, if you use Windows Pass-through authentication, and the PC is logged in with the Windows AD userid assigned to this custom view, the…

Your answer lies within, Grasshopper ;-) Yes, that's what I meant to say... Ordering of columns within the tables... :) All you have to do is right-click on a table from within Enterprise Manager (ex. Nodes), then select "Design Table". From within this view, you can select the column to be moved by clicking on the little…

I agree that some advance notification should have been in order. Our vendor management department pays this fee yearly and did not have funding in their budget for this large increase. Releasing all these new features requires increased development along with the associated costs. However releasing buggy software drives…

No you are not crazy, but Orion is designed to gather Network Performance stats. Sadly the IP address is part of the device inventory - not a performance value. However, using the Custom MIB poller, you could poll the OID which shows you the interface IP & publish this in the Interface Details page. A simpler solution…

Of course you require port 80 (or 443) opened to your Orion server from the Web clients access the Orion web page. You also must open UDP 514 from your devices to Orion for Syslog. DNS (UDP 53) might be another port required, if there is no DMC or DNS server in the same network as your server. Where is your DB server…

Back in the old ASP days (V8 & 9.1) you could simply right click on a graph, select copy and then paste it into an HTML formatted e-mail. It took all of 2 seconds to send graphs to my managers and assurance team via e-mail. E-mail file size is about 37kB for each graph included in the e-mail. With the introduction of .NET…

The short answer is yes.Guess my answer was too long. :( Sorry Vic, no disrespect intended, I was just replying to the title of this post! It just seemed like a simple yes or no answer was in order to the question "can it be done?" Answering how it can be done could fill several pages. I'm not sure anyone here has that…

Hey Chris, I think you can do this with just an interface down alert. No need to monitor the node status. If the node goes down, you should only get an interface unknown back, therefore not triggering an interface down alert. I believe that's how the basic alerts function as well.

ICMP packets with 0 bytes payload are detected as an attack by most Firewalls and blocked. I suspect the IP stack on the POS terminals is not too robust. Try changing Orion to send 32 byte packets

Yes Kiwi has this capability, I'm not sure how Solarwinds implemented this feature. See this post for further details....
