  • Don, rossw has posted some SQL queries which you might be able to use to build this report. It requires MS SQL Enterprise Manager to run it. www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG
  •  All I've got is the old Excel add-in code - not sure if this still works with the latest toolset. See attached.
  • Sorry Leon, it's been so long ago that I installed it, I forgot it was an add-on as Janis has so kindly posted. My point in posting all the links was to show that any .resource file can be edited to customize the web interface, as some others here have done. You can even create your own .resource file using any un-used…
  • Some of the code is actually derived from the "70-telnet.resource" file in this directory; C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Resources\9-1-Miscellaneous I'm still running V7.5, so this may have been changed in V7.8, but should still work. Just open the .resource files with a text editor & you will see the HTML code used to…
  • It should be in this directory: C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Resources\9-1-Miscellaneous If not, then use whatever file is linked on your node details page for your custom connectivty (In your browser View>Source to see what files are being used in the HTML code). -=Cheers=- NG
  • I've added 2 columns in the Custom Property Editor for this. One I call 'Access' which is either SSH or Telnet The other is Web with the URL properties/custom tcp port used to browse to the device. I then link to these properties in the node details page. If the property does not exist in the Column, it does not appear on…
  • You cannot add Custom MIB - OID objects to Orion. You are stuck with the pre-defined values. This is a feature that many customers have been requesting, and would make this package even better. Most likely this would increase the price as well, or perhaps could be sold as an add-on ? -=Cheers=- NG
  • Actually I just posted about this quite recently. I am running V8.1 and SW Support acknowledges that it is broken in this Version (even though I did have it working on an older V8.1 server). Apparently this has been fixed in V8.5.1. (I edited a file in the Windows Registry to get it working again - it appears to be a…
  • Use the MIB Walker tool to find the correct MIB. -=Cheers=- NG
  • I haven't tried this yet, but there is a Utility in the latest release that allows you to backup your website to a file. You could just run the install wizard again and point to a new database. However, you will lose all the existing discovered nodes. Most likely you will have to manually delete selected data from the…
  • As far as I know, you can't change this, but if you call the support line, perhaps they have a patch or util that can allow you to do this? -=Cheers=- NG
  • The Sasser patch was installed this weekend, but I'm still seeing the Com+ object errors in the event viewer. I'll just have to wait for 7.2 -=Cheers=- NG
  • You may need to increase your polling rate by going into the registry. We monitor about the same number of nodes, and it takes about 15 minutes to stabilize after a restart. I have set the Max polls/second to 24 on my server: www.solarwinds.net/.../Scalability_Options.htm There is a lot of good info in the help file…
  • quote:Originally posted by Mithrilhall How about the ability to turn ports on/off from Orion without the need for the Toolset? Hey Mithrall, you can do this from System Manager already (if you use the RW SNMP community string). I guess you want to do this from the web interface? That's a little scary, as I've found out the…
  • Nice Don, ...couldn't have said it better :-D -=Cheers=- NG
  • Yup; www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp In System Manager right click on the ATM interface and select interface properties. At the top of the page are some sliders for the transmit and receive bandwidth of this interface. Just set it to whatever your PVC bandwidth is. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Hi Justin, You should find a shortcut in your Orion>Advanced Features folder called "Account Limitation Builder". Running this app allows you to specify any property to base your limitations on. Once you have selected the property you want, it will appear in the Account Manager as a selectable radio button. HTH
  • You might have Domain Authentication enabled on the Orion Web server. Open IIS and make sure Anonymous Access is enabled under the IIS properties. You can re-enable this once you have set the admin password and changed your Domain account in the Orion GUI to admin.
  • quote:Originally posted by ctreptow I think the second issue is that you'll have to kick off the scan again. We have the Professional 2002 version, and there aren't any command line options. It scans all subnets and stops when it's complete. There doesn't seem to be an option to have it cycle through the subnet list…
  • Generally the Map page is good for visualizing, troubleshooting & drilling down into your network, but not so for alerting or alarms. You could add the "NODES WITH PROBLEMS" view above or below the map, so that when anything goes down, it appears as a separate item on the page. I've created a custom Nodes Down view with…
  • You need to use DHCP Scope Monitor tool for this, in conjunction with the IP Address Management tool. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Hey Bleearg, have you checked [url="http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2635"]this post? Personally I've given up on IE & use Firefox whenever I can. -=Cheers=- NG [url="http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/search.asp"]
  • Do a search in this forum for "Bandwidth Calculation".... www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG
  • Unfortunately you cannot unmanage interfaces, only the whole node. .... although, perhaps if you edit the interfaces table in the DB, you might be able to. It depends on how the polling engine interprets this. It might be worth a try to see what happens. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Thanks for the links to the licensing docs Bronx. Once I freed up 50 licenses, I was still having issues monitoring all the components, until I found the docs on setting up an SQL account for AppInsight monitoring.…
  • We are using Kiwi Syslogger and have it tied into our Orion webpage. The syslogs events for each device are displayed on the node details page. It takes a fair bit of .asp/vbs coding knowledge, but it can be done. Kiwi can alert you for anything you want by searching the message for keywords. Here is a good article on…
  • Greetings Bharani, Have you checked the most excellent online documentation: www.solarwinds.net/.../chapter 4.htm www.solarwinds.net/.../alert suppression examples.htm & tutorials: www2.solarwinds.net/.../Alerts.html www2.solarwinds.net/.../AdvAlertsV7.html -=Cheers=- NG
  • What you are looking for is Cisco NetFlow stats. This gives you everything you asked for plus the IP conversation matrix. Check this doc: luca.ntop.org/nProbe.pdf www.ntop.org/nProbe.html Here's another Linux based one. www.caida.org/.../ Demo graph here - flowscan.frgp.net/frgp.html There are a few others floating around.…
  • Is there anything written to the Windows EventViewer when the polling dies? If so, you could use an app like Snare to send a syslog to another server & then email/sms the alert, until you can get this resolved. Do you have a DBA that can analyze you DB when this is happening? Perhaps some tables are getting locked by…
  • I put a "Netque" print server under my desk with a cheap timer on the power supply. Every 12 hours it either turns on or turns off the device. I just monitor the IP and set up an alert called "Orion alerting test". Crude but effective. -=Cheers=- NG
