  • quote:Originally posted by Mithrilhall I haven't called in for support in quite some time (before version 8) but it used to be top notch. I'm sure it'll be better than it used to. You really can't do any better than a real live knowledgeable person on the other end of the line when you call in. Sadly this is no longer the…
  • Thanks Ian, I guess they changed the asp files between V7 & V7.0.5 It works fine now that I removed the NetPerfMon.asp line. -=Cheers=- NG
  • What is the ASP error message you are seeing and on what page does it appear. I just upgraded to a newer, faster server and at the same time went from V7 to V7.0.5. When I re-installed the telnet resource file in the "9-1-miscellaneous" I got an ASP error message when viewing any node detail page. Here is the…
  • Have a look at the Admin Guide; www.solarwinds.net/.../UpgradesMigrations.htm -=Cheers=- NG
  • I'm not sure why you are using multiple nested conditions. I would just use a single condition - Trigger when all the following apply. Then list the 'not OK' and then the name of the Mib Poller.
  • I've seen the exact same behaviour you described vhcato. Just clicking on the Orion Home page tab starts the refresh again. -=Cheers=- NG ~seek & ye shall find---> [url="http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/search.asp"] <---no need to wait for answers~

  • Check the event viewer on the SQL server. I just had this same issue this past week. Here is the warning message from my server: Error: 1105, Severity: 17, State: 2 Could not allocate space for object 'InterfaceErrors' in database 'NetPerfMon' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Error: 9002, Severity: 17, State: 6 The…
  • Have you checked your database nightly maintenance logs ? Perhaps the polling service stops when the database maintenance fails and hangs or locks the SQL database? You might try re-indexing each table as well, just to clean up the database. -=Cheers=- NG
  • I haven't seen this myself (although I do see multiple devices with "no response" as per Jonchill's post), but usually there will be an indication of what's wrong in the task manager. Either a memory or CPU hog will be running. I also check the event log on the server for anything meaningful. There are also some new log…
  • The views are based on the users web account. You must restrict access to single locations in each of the users account. You can base the limitation on any custom property assigned to each node. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Guten Tag Seraphym, As you have said, using sequential/unique numbers for each router does not work for Grouping. You must find some common trait amongst each group of routers. I use Region (Province) & Building (a location code based on street address) & Device Type to group my devices. This allows me to see the status of…
  • Hey Chapter 15+14, I think you will find a solution in this post: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG
  • There are many other parameters added besides just IP, SNMP & Node ID. Most likely there are too many additional parameters to make this feasible. - interface ID & index, Interface Tx & Rx bandwidth, Netobject, etc. Then there's the matter of setting the monitoring intervals, statistics polling intervals & alerts... I…
  • That's not possible at this point. Someone has just requested the feature that certain ports(uplinks) be excluded from being mapped. (in this forum). -=Cheers=- NG
  • John, According to the EULA you are not allowed to remove the Solarwinds.net banner(with the link to their site). You could try to remove the custom logo banner above it though (this would save 80 pixels at the top of the screen). See the help file on how to create your own custom banner. -=Cheers=- NG

  • Thanks Jiri, I migrated my NCM 7.1 Db onto my new NCM DB server. I plan on moving and integrating NCM with my new NPM server this weekend. Now that NCM 7.3 is GA, can I just install it on my NPM server and point it to my NCM 7.1.1 DB? Or should I install 7.2.2 first on this NPM server and then upgrade? BTW, I am now…
  • Mark, you have touched on a much discussed topic in these forums. The short answer, is wait for the next version of Orion to be released. The long answer can be found in these forums by doing a search for "custom mibs". -=Cheers=- NG
  • Just run the install file. It will look after everything else for you - very painless. Kudos to SWs for this...
  • Have you tried: Show Interface Status & Show Interface Status on the switch )assuming you are running native - IOS)? If you can find the MIB which shows these values, you can use the Solarwinds Toolset - Excel add-in to grab this from all your switches & publish into a spreadsheet. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Yes, the switch port mapper included with the Engineers Edition has a field which gives the time & date of the last traffic seen on the port. We export ours to a web page, which allows anyone in our group to view & download the data to Excel. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Dancoh, I don't think you will find another NM product around that will give you anywhere near the same "Bang for the Buck" as you get with Orion. There's not many NM companies that have forums with posts from customers exchanging ideas & requesting features from the Chairman and Chief Architect of the Company. 'nuff…
  • Thanks for the clarification Don. I'm looking for exactly what you mentioned. I want anyone on my team to be able to update the Custom Properties from the Web interface, but nothing else on the Orion Web site. Basically we are tracking all our Customer info with Orion & are adding up to 20 per week. Rather than having to…

  • Not sure if you saw this one: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.aspquote:Originally posted by josh@solarwinds.net The Wireless Networks and Application Monitor Management Packs have now officially released and the pricing and details are on the SolarWinds.Net website. In a nutshell, $1,495 for the Application Monitor and…
  • Hey Martin, There have been a few posts on the upcoming Version 8 features in the past few months. Do a search for V8 in this forum. I'm quite interested in the new Alerting Engine. With people & devices coming and going all the time, my alerts have become a real mess & are almost impossible for the rest of my team to…
  • Hi Chapter 30-1, I'd forgotten about this issue & don't recall the root cause. In any case I seem to recall this was just a temporary glitch. After closing CPE & logging off my RDP session, the next time I logged in it was working. I've found that when the SQL DB gets busy, CPE is not always responsive, especially when…
  • This is not possible with Orion. Orion only uses the default SNMP port. If you have a router in-between your server & node, you could enable PAT on the router. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Might I suggest you add a loopback interface to the router & monitor that IP instead? That is the standard method used to monitor routers. -=Cheers=- NG
