  • See the following KB article: support.solarwinds.net/.../ProblemDetail.cfm And you need to re-install the Report Writer Date/Time Exclusion app after an upgrade. See the text file included in the zip file for installation instructions -=Cheers=- NG
  • You could use the Cisco Visio stencils and save each one as a gif file. Then save them in the appropriate mapmaker icon directory. The new mapmaker allows you to put a coloured pad (among others) under the Icon which indicates the node's status. -=Cheers=- NG
  • quote:Originally posted by lewisda " The Netwrk Perfromance Monitor database/license is serioulsy corrupt. Please contact Solarwinds Technical Support for assistance " Has any one seen this before. They can assist you in running some database clean-up commands. Or you may need to restore the database from a previous…
  • Hey Andy - see the following posts: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG
  • 1. There is an "un-manage until <date, time>" selection when viewing the node details in System Manager. This does not actually "re-manage" the node automatically once the set time has passed, at least in V7.2.2 2. This has been a much asked for feature, no ETA, if at all. 3. Another asked for feature, but may not fall…
  • Hey Steve - welcome to the Software that is Solarwinds - Orion. What you will find, is that as soon as you start grouping devices, any group that is not completely configured will flash yellow, telling you that there are devices in that group with no custom property. In order for everything to show green, every device in…
  • Here's a "Temporary" workaround until we get our custom MIB reporting: You could enabling logging of BGP peer changes on your router & send them to the Orion Syslog. You should then be able to create a custom report in Report Writer, to view this data. -=Cheers=- NG
  • quote:Originally posted by IvanPepelnjakquote:You could add a link to the Orion node details page to view or run just about any command you want on the router using this method. You can do even more ... I'm working on a Tcl solution to generate customized printouts on the router and HTML code to get them integrated in…
  • I found this Tech Republic article which explains how to get the a router config using the built-in HTTP server: articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-1035_11-6039967.html You could add a link to the Orion node details page to view or run just about any command you want on the router using this method. Here's another goldmine…
  • Hi Scorse, Here are the short answers. 1) No, only whatever it can get from SNMP with the Orion supported MIBs 2) No, only ICMP & SNMP gets. 3) No, just enable SNMP RO 4) Possibly 5) If SNMP is already enabled on all devices ~ 2 hours, not using the Network-discovery. Much less if everything is on a small subnet which can…
  • Please check out this page before installing/upgrading: www.solarwinds.net/.../OrionNPMUpdatesV7.htm -=Cheers=- NG
  • This is another way of creating custom links to applications. Have a look at this link: www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG
  • It is extra work moving the database to another server, but if you have the time it is not too hard. Once you get the new servers, you can just phone or e-mail Solarwinds to reset your SLX license. Then you can install on the new server and be up in a matter of minutes. Make sure you have your database copied onto the new…
  • Orion is an Enterprise Network Management Tool. EE is designed more as a Technical troubleshooting tool. Some Major differences; * Orion uses MS SQL DB, EE uses MSDE access DB(limited to 2Gb) * Orion has Report Writer * Orion has Report Scheduler * Orion has Custom Property Editor * Orion has a built in Syslogger * Orion…
  • You can add a custom property to the nodes table which has the links you want to associate with each node. Then add that property to the Node List - Custom Grouping and Filtering view. As long as the property is in http format, you should be able to use this as a hyperlink. I have not tried this myself, as I just use the…
  • The short answer is no. Do a search in this forum for Syslog or Trap. www2.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp There are many posts concerning this topic. -=Cheers=- NG
  • I am on V10.7 and imported custom properties from a spreadsheet created from an export from an old Orion to be decommissioned. Those properties were somehow imported with "double quotes" around them. Now I have to go back and clean this up somehow. Also formatting in the Node Manager table is less than useful now. When…
  • Try this, Using the Orion webpage search for nodes feature - Type in the hostname & then select Systemname from the dropdown box. It will show you all devices with the search string in the SNMP discovered System(host)name. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Hi Bryan, Have you tried the "pre-canned" alert - SNMP password changed? It should send an alert if the password changes on any monitored device. Not sure how this works if SNMP is completely brokem though. You might have to experiment with this. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Have you tried looking at the Fan description here - 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.4.1.2 This is what I see when testing this OID on a 3845 - Power Supply 1 Fan I see no way of getting the status of Power Supply 2....
  • See my request for this feature last year: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/message/150584#150584 I have considered a workaround to do this using custom properties, but it is somewhat Kludgy and requires a bit of work.
  • I just found a very useful tool for this: IPscanner http://www.ip-scanner.com/ You can scan for any open ports on any number of IPs. Great tool for finding rougue PC's on your network. -=Cheers=- NG
  • There is no specific tool for this, although the IP network browser can detect this on an individual host basis. The IP network browser will show you any open ports under TCP connections, as well as what services are running under Services. This of course assumes you have SNMP access to the group of servers you want to…
  • The Beta Alert Manager can do this for you. Setup a second alert for the Plant Manager for any DSLAM which has been down for more than 60 minutes. -=Cheers=- NG
  • It seems others have had this same issue. I did a search for BAM (Beta Alert Manager) & found this solution: www4.solarwinds.net/.../topic.asp -=Cheers=- NG [url="http://www4.solarwinds.net/SolarWindsForum/search.asp"]
  • We are monitoring 200 remote Cisco routers setup with EZ-VPN to a VPN concentrator in Lan extension mode. It's working fine (we don't monitor the tunnels, just the remote LAN & WAN interface). -=Cheers=- NG
  • This information should actually come from the SNMP port description MIB. I've been asking for this to be supported for the past year now on Catalyst switches running CatOS. Then you would just have to label your switch ports in one place. The MIBs are there, they are just not polling them with Orion. -=Cheers=- NG
  • You can use the switch port mapper if you have Solarwinds Engineering Edition. Otherwise you would have to do this manually with the command line software in your switch/router. In Cisco it is - show ip arp, and show cam dynamic. -=Cheers=- NG
  • Here is what I found using the following Google search: <www.google.com/search www.smallnetbuilder.com/Reviews-2-ProdID-BEFVP41-1.php adsl.urnonline.net/dsl500.pdf newsroom.cisco.com/.../CiscoSOHO90DS.pdf www.skynetsystems.com/.../datasheets\soh77_ds.pdf I think you get the idea.... -=Cheers=- NG
  • You should phone the Support line if you have burning issues. I believe this forum was designed for customers to exchange ideas, not neccessarily as a Solarwinds help line. I have not had any issues receiving support from Solarwinds via phone or e-mail. -=Cheers=- NG
