Here is a report for Node Outage durations for last month, that could be modified to Interface outage times and durations:

Thanks for the info Chris. I've disabled the Launchpad now. I just checked & the swtoolset.exe is actually an ActiveX control which gets installed as part of the Orion toolset integration. It runs from - C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SWToolSet.Engine

If you wait until December, I wouldn't be surprised if all the timestamps have 12s in them.... LOL.

How about a Tab in the Subnet calculator for wild-card masking and free-form mask calculations? I'm having to isolate addresses more and more for security concerns across discontiguous subnets. it would be nice to be able to enter, say: 10.32.0.11 with a mask of 255.224.0.15 and have it tell me what IP addresses match…

Here is something that I include at the end of every Orion e-mail alert that gets sent out: Orion QuickLink: http://<Orion-server>/NetPerfMon/Resources/SearchNodes.Action.asp?Field=IP_Address&SearchStr=${IP} This allows you to quickly get to the problem device in Orion. I include this in all my Syslog alerts as well.

I too am looking for a "connected clients" report for the previous month for our executives. There is report for avg & peak connected clients last month, but this is per AP. We have hundreds of AP's so not a good report to put in front of management. Ideally I'd like to have this report on a per WLC basis for the last…

Wow! I knew it was not a trivial matter, but that certainly puts things into perspective. Thanks for the detailed explanation Lee. Another future possiblity may be using Cisco's flexible Netflow export feature to gather the Policy-map stats. I attending an Advanced NetFlow seminar [NMS-3132] at Networkers last year which…

Denny, Viewing the ToS bit in Netflow is not the same as viewing the QoS Policy-Map traffic/queues/drops on an interface. Netflow does not display this, as this shows the traffic before it hits the wire This would be a huge feature if you poll this OID in Orion &/or add it as a feature to the VoIP monitor plugin.

I'm not going to bite anyone's head off here, but try using the Forum Search function... http://www.thwack.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=discards&s=9 Good answer John! I'm glad you said it & not me.....

I've been looking for a 'new' HTML option now that I've finally upgraded to V8.1, but have been unable to find anything new. I've been using the 'Raw HTML' option to display multiple graphs on one page since Orion V6 </scratches head>. ">

Bump - I want to export all alerts from one server to another. Are there alert files somewhere that I can copy and move, or is this all just in the DB and can only be exported one at a time via the Alert Manager Gui?

I've been a user for the old System Manager console for 8 years now, and I prefer the web console. When the web node management first came out, it was painfully slow, but version 10 is quite usable. I find it just as responsive as the System Manager, and it's easier and faster to use. When I want to modify a node (or group…

Thanks Glen! For #2, I got so hung up on the filter side, I totally missed the 'group by' box. Doh! <edit> After reviewing this, it's not working as well as it should. By grouping the interfaces by status, I've lost my node filter. Now instead of just seeing interfaces from my Cisco 1811 routers, I'm seeing all 8K…

95th percentile is based on a specified time interval. I'm not sure how this interval could be specified in the alert. This will require some computation at fixed intervals to remove the top 5% of entries over the specified time interval (hour, day, week, etc). This calculation must also take into account the statistics…

I have found the same issue in 8.1 With the directlink account enabled, anyone can connect to a single page if they have a direct link and then browse anywhere on the Orion website with impunity. The directlink account was originally designed to allow access to a only single page, such as a chart or report. Following links…

What time does your nightly maintenance start & finish? This normally happens due to the maintenance script locking some tables in the DB & data can no longer be written to the DB. Check this file in your Orion installation folder for the nightly DB maint. timestamps: ....\Program…

I've actually abandoned EOC, as I found it created too much load on the Orion Web servers when it's polling/pulling data. I would find the individual Orion web pages would sometimes take "forever" to load and was trying to figure out why. I used Netflow to find out who had Orion open on some complex page which was being…

I think this is a must have, in order to keep the CPU happy on the IPSLA router. We have installed 18 "shadow routers" in our call centers dedicated to IPSLA testing. They are running 20 - 30 tests each, which can impact the performance of the router if they all start simultaneoulsy. Currently the workaround is the…

I had one on my Perl scripting Guru's create a custom SQL query in report writer. However you have to run the report and then search within the report for the subnet info, so it is not searchable via an input box on the web page. SELECT G2.GroupType AS ParentGT, G2.GroupId AS ParentGrID, G2.Address AS ParentAdd, G2.CIDR AS…
-
Brian, you have just highlighted how easy this feature would be for Solarwinds to implement. I have 40 users in my team but only 2 of us have RDP access to the Report Writer app on the server. Unless this query can be customized and run from the web, it is of no use to the other 38 team members. We also down want to create…
-
Another option would be a bread crumb trail or folder structure at the top of the page. You are here: Group>Supernet>Subnet>IP-Address Another feature missing is being able to e-mail links to other users. Example: here is the subnet/IP info you requested http://orionserver/ipam/Group/Supernet/Subnet-ID While we are talking…

Bump. I'm running V1.6 and waiting patiently... Is this still in the system?

Back "in the day", I created this query which showed me all enabled basic alerts and who they were being sent to: SELECT Alerts.Alertname AS Alert_Name, Alerts.TriggerSubjectTemplate AS Trigger_Subject_Message, AlertActions.target AS Email_Addresses FROM Alerts INNER JOIN AlertActions ON (Alerts.AlertID =…

You can save the output as a text file in your Inetpub directory using the IP address of the device as the filename. Then add a link to the NPM page like this: http://Orion/Orion/NPM/PathPing/${IP_address}.txt OR: Share out the location of the NCM output text files on your Orion server and add a link on the Node details…

Please also see my post here. IPAM multiple tree views Perhaps this needs to be added to this feature request?
-
I finally got around to trying this. Sadly, it seems the Orion IPAM tool requires a WMI account to poll the DHCP scopes. I get this popup when trying to add the DHCP server to Orion IPAM without WMI credentials: Please correct the following errors before continuing:Credential Name must not be blankUser Name must not be…

Do you have ANY filters applied to your views. I found that when I applied a filter excluding certain devices by location to my down nodes view it would also exclude any nodes without a custom property defined in the "Location" field. I now make sure I define this custom property every time I add a new node. (I think there…

"I submitted a request to Solarwinds that Wireless data have a separate data retention mgt interface. Not sure if that request made it to the proper channels, and not sure if its being taken seriously. We still benefit from seeing current wireless data - historical beyond a few days is not relevant for us at this time." I…

Hey Jeremy, we have not yet started using the Modular IOS, but will be looking into it early next year. So are you saying this IOS does not take the CPU to 90% when doing a large SNMP get on the 6500?

The drop down menu isn't even displayed on the charts in VoIP monitor. I realize there is now a drop down to change the default time for the whole page, but it still only goes back 24 hours. The only way to view data older than this is to open the chart and select a custom time period - definitely not user friendly. BTW,…
