  • Hi Jimmy, The SolarWinds Upgrade Advisor is the one to go with. It gives the most optimal path based on what you entered. The KB is a more manual process to update so it may not always give you the quickest and most optimal path. However both paths would get you to where you need to be. It just may take a bit longer with…
  • Forgot to add. For the links to the product downloads you need to be logged into the customer portal. Once you are logged in it will give you the links to the products you have under maintenance. You can also email the PDF to yourself and you will be able to download the links from the PDF.
  • Hi Everyone, Just wanted to pop in and answer the question about the upgrade guide. We don't have a separate guide for upgrading NPM but it is in the NPM Administrator Guide on page 108 - http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/orion/docs/orionnpmadministratorguide.pdf With regards to the Product Upgrade Advisor we have it…
  • Hi Everyone, One more nifty trick, if you forget to login before playing with the Product Upgrade Advisor once you check compatability it will give you the option to Login to your Customer Portal and get the links.
  • Hi Sja, It is not possible to inject it into the graph. However if you had alerts go off during this time then you can information when you are acknowledging the alert.
  • Thanks SuperDave
  • Hi Andrew, Your best bet here is to speak to the vendor of the device. However if you are not able to do that you could use Solarwinds Engineer's Toolset to do a MIB walk to the device and you could find the OID's for the device yourself. MIB Walk - Open Engineer's Toolset - Classic Tools - SNMP Tools - MIB Walk - (If you…
  • Hi Dguerry, APM has SQL User Experience monitors that are ideal for this sort of monitoring. Using these monitors you can create a SQL query that runs against your server on a scheduled basis and returns results as stats and response times. You could then set threshold and alerts on this monitor to flag this issue. APM…
  • Hi ahthomas, A very similar issue to your issue here. You can only do this in the database so you will need to be able to access your database in order to stop events being written. Kind Regards, Mélanie Solarwinds * Technical Support Representative
  • These are great Leon, Cant wait to see the next one you have up your sleeve. Will definately be sharing these with our other customers. Thanks,
  • Hi darksiders, The UnDP polls at the same frequency that the node is setup to collect SNMP statistics so by default this would be every ten minutes. You cannot set this independantly of the node statistics polling collection. However if you need it to be polled more frequently I would suggest that you go in and edit the…
  • hi mmedwid, Would you put up a screenshot of what you are seeing when you hit the details button. Can you also check what you have installed by going here and put up that screenshot also C:\Program Files(x86)\Solarwinds\Orion and search for the OrionVersionChecker.exe This handy little exe will tell you exactly what you…
  • Hi Hnx980, In order to monitor the status of VMWare tools you would need to monitor the VMwareService.exe on the node using APM. You could then use the APM component status report in the the Report Writer to report on the status of the tool. Hope that this answers your question somewhat.
  • Hi Dave_D, If there is a problem with your maintenance contract can you please contact customer services. You can find all the contact information here. http://www.solarwinds.com/company/contact.aspx With regards to your question about service monitoring and remote service management you are correct. NPM does not do this,…
  • Hi Jason, This is a known issue and has been logged with our development team. If you add the node manually the FullName will appear correctly. This is currently an issue only with Network Discovery.
  • Hi, Could you please try changing the macro from ${Sysname} to ${SystemName}. If this doesnt work then there may be a problem with the setup of one of your custom properties and you would need to open a support case in order to get this investigated further as we would need to have a look at system diagnostics.
  • Hi Kurochan, It is not possible to list resources for multiple nodes unless you are doing a Network Discovery. Also you cannot run a report that will show interfaces and ports and volumes that are not being managed in NPM as the data would not be in the database. A possible solution for this would be for you to add the…
  • Hi Timsilverline, There is no way to stop this on the website. You will need to open the database to do this **Please make sure to have a backup of your database before you do any of this work ** Open the database using Orion Database Manager Find the table - EventType Untick the record field Refresh Restart your Orion…
  • Hi Atheeb, We got you fixed after a remote session. If anyone gets this problem again you need to check the permissions checker in C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\OrionPermissionchecker.exe. There was problems with the accounts and the permissions so we fixed these and we were able to upgrade afterwards. Thanks
  • Hi twuk, I just wanted to follow up with you on how Support works with customers. For How To questions from customers the Support Rep will often send the answer and close out the case. The reason for this is so that we don't bother our customers by sending them multiple emails to close out the case. However if you respond…
  • Hi Trimax, You would not be able to truncate this table as other tables depend on it. The reason that this table is growing could be due to two things or a combination 1. You are polling over the default. If you are polling over the default this puts more data into the table - you can check this on the admin page - polling…
  • Hi Jason, We are investigating this from the point of view of the Product Upgrade Advisor to ensure that we have everything covered and to understand why it is showing as source environment not compatible. All of our tests and checks show that NPM 11.0 and IPSLA 3.5.1 are not compatible. Is this a test or a beta…
  • Hi, Here is an Orion Team Blog that shows how to get charts into your reports.
  • Hi Jshortall, I have forwarded this feature request to the Product Manager. However the reason that you can only hold 180 days is due to a sizing issue in the database. Here is a short explaination of what happens to the data in your database. The data that is polled for the detailed data is polled every 10 minutes / 120…
  • Hi Chads, Can you try this please. In the GENERAL tab in "Design Mode" in Report Writer; you may have to uncheck the box entitled "Group historical data by days" and select "Save" This field was intended to aid in summarization based on hours; and depending on your specific report; it may throw this error when you are…
