Mr. Mohr I only wish it were that easy! However, when you don't have control of your Corporate email system it is not easy. We only have the ability to create groups in our own Lotus Notes mailbox, nothing global.

I was really hoping for a way to do this with my existing products, not have to spend more money to get it to work. It is a bummer.

Hi Zak What I would really like to see is the Utilization % rather than the total bytes transferred. I have actually been preparing my reports to show the hourly utilization % for a week. I do this by going to the one of the Interfaces, choose the chart, Last 7 days, Percent Utilization, change it to 1 hour, save the raw…

Hi It isn't that Lotus Notes doesn't support this feature. Our Lotus Notes is adminstered by our Corporate Headquarters in France and getting anything changed there is almost impossible. I have asked that one group be changed so it can receive "outside" email but it has still not happened. I am hoping to work with our HR…

Hi Matthew Sounds like that might work, but this is a worldwide network with hundreds of Nodes. I only want to see the one I am interested in at this point. Karen Harbaugh Systems Administrator Berk-Tek 132 White Oak Rd New Holland, PA 17557 717 351 9380 717 475 8097 karen.harbaugh@nexans.com

OK DUH I get the UNDP, Universal Device Pollers, since I use some of those for other devices...

Link still does not work.

This is great information. I don't believe our mil system supports distribution lists at the domain level. We have no control over our Notes server it is all done through Corporate. We are moving to Exchange but it is going to be at least another six months before that happens. I will look into it further on the Notes side…

Richard Thanks for the further explanation. Karen Harbaugh Systems Administrator Berk-Tek 132 White Oak Rd New Holland, PA 17557 717 351 9380 717 475 8097 karen.harbaugh@nexans.com

I agree, that would be a very useful feature. We have added some custom properties which define a server as critical or non critical. I would like to have the ability to check or uncheck the box when a new server is added. Karen Harbaugh Systems Administrator

Please forgive my ignorance.. what is UNDP and what do I do with these files now that I've downloaded them. I don't suppose there is anyway to monitor the DHCPSRVLOG-Day-log on each server for Event 14 which is A lease request could not be satisfied because the scope's address pool was exhausted... Just thinking out loud…

Never mind. I see the typo when it appeared in the message! I'll fix it now.

I too would like to have the ability to rename an Unknown machine type. Like others here I have some devices that I am only using ICMP to monitor. I would really like to give them a machine type that makes sense rather than Unknown. It would be so nice to be able to click on Node Details in System Manager and then change…

Any way to find what might be trying to query it? This is a Server so that is why I am a little concerned.

Glad I'm not the only one who needs this functionality. When I asked about setting up email for groups of staff I was told to do it through Exchange. That's fine except we don't use Exchange and I can't do it through our LOTUS Notes. Seems, Orion should have a staff database and perhaps a calendar function where you could…

Not checked. Also the other interesting piece of this is the fact that there are several other volumes on this server and they all report correctly.

Thanks Matthew, that link is very helpful. I will look into the reports further, I was simply looking at the Reports tab in the Web Interface. Sounds like I need to go to the Report Writer on the NTA server. Karen Harbaugh Systems Administrator Berk-Tek 132 White Oak Rd New Holland, PA 17557 717 351 9380 717 475 8097…

This sounds like a possibility. I cannot open the link you included in the message. We only have 6 DHCP servers, but also have split ranges on each.

Microsoft DHCP on domain controllers, which are Windows 2003 Standard Edition, SP2.

I followed these steps but still get the errors. This is ESXi 4.1. ~ # cd etc /etc # cd security /etc/security # ls access.conf login.map pam_evn.conf /etc/security # 9/23/2011 3:41:25 PMs315eesxiErrorHostd: pam_env(system-auth-generic:setcred): Unable to open config file: /etc/security/pam_env.conf: No such file or…

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately we run Lotus Notes right now as our mail system. How can Solarwinds use the information from Active Directory?
-
I will check this later this afternoon. I'm assuming I put the correct IP address in the query for the server.

Thanks Richard That gives me a few ideas to work with. The problem is, this NTA is attached to a 250 NPM installation so I am limited to 250 interfaces to monitor. That is where the problem is coming in. Since this is for the worldwide network, I believe we may just need to upgrade the license. I will get with some of the…

Hate to do a me too... but I am seeing these double reboot messages as well. Not for all nodes though. Now this week, I have received reboot messages from most of my APC UPS devices. When I check their logs there is no reboot noted. Also no traps received indicating a reboot. We are very puzzled about what is generating…

If I understand what you are asking the answer is yes you can change the node details view for a node (device). For example I have APC devices that I don't want to see CPU, Memory, Volumes, etc. I want to see my custom MIBs, a link to the management page for the device and the Response time. I went in to Manage Views, made…

Like serveral others have already mentioned, I would like to be able to change the label Unknown for devices that I am simply pinging. For example, I have 3 gateways which we do not manage but I still need to know if they go down. We can only manage them through ICMP. I would like to change that Unknown group to say…
