rschroeder have you looked at the Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens? I had the opportunity to use one at Yellowstone National Park a few years back with my Nikon. It was surprisingly sharp and the reviews on DPreview.com were fairly decent. I believe the gen2 has improved things. I was able to get shots I couldn't with my Nikon…

Good flash ! I've got an SB-600 I like a lot...I wish they still made them. I considered some of the after market models but held off. I shoot a D200.

The SIEM is but a single tool in the tool box and should not be an all inclusive solution by itself. It must be fault tolerant, highly available, and in a different chassis than production (money making hosts).

I utilize linux systems...don't have much experience in the maintaining or patching there of. On that note, I am aware of YUM and other tools for this...just no practical experience.

Ah...so the container is just the local address space that contains the app and related libraries/access to data. Hmmm....sounds like started tasks on a mainframe..almost.

the joys of multiple instances behind a load balancer....you need to poll each instance as well as through the load balancer not to mention montior what the load balancer is saying about that pool. This gets to be fun as things are spun up and down depending on load.

I believe it is 400 pts x 7 questions if all are answered correctly.

Soggy Thursday morning bump #bumpsquad

yes we do face this...we limit what can be put onto a workstation or laptop by group policy. If someone has their own laptop or tablet they are using to assist in their duties...those are harder to track and regulate. Not an area I would like to "police"...

That's why you get new guys in...to help you remember that there may be better was to do things or to jog your mind about something you were going to change but forgot about.

Thank you ecklerwr1

yep...they all carried small nukes and enjoyed powered armor. The powered armor was one of the biggest fails WRT the movie... "on the bounce"

What gets me it that this is just now becoming "a thing". Seems to me the federal IT sector has been living under a rock. (just my opinion) I am quite sure the military (and NSA, CIA, FBI, etc.) had been already looking into this for over a decade now. Any datacenter/IT shop should have been aware and building…

A very good starting point. Thank you for submitting.

They let you have a vacation?

I'm in on this too. Being able to set page refresh rates is a very nice thing... Possibly at the account/group level as well. I also concur on the <insert frustration> issue as well. I know we all have been typing in something and the page refreshes and now we are back at the top of the page and everything we typed in is…

Wednesday midweek bump !

Sounds like you need more coffee....I know I do.

Agreed...but it does give you a starting point.

As long as you have either swag or bacon life is good. Absence of both not so much fun. Having both is preferred.

weird or Austin Weird ?

I agree with many of the posts so thus far. Many of the initiatives are born out of cost savings and automating tasks...it's cheaper to automatically bill someone for a toll road than to have to staff it with people in toll booths. Then we don't have to carry change to pay the tolls, then traffic flows more smoothly and it…

Another bump! Great idea!

pretty much the same as non government IT shops.
