yes, a DR plan that is not a living document will result in a disaster in itself piled on top of the disaster it was designed to mitigate.

If ya'll think we butcher the English language, you should see some of the terms/names the Aussie's come up with.

We apparently have 2 of these threads going of the same title in Geek Speak !

Actually we need a Rube Goldberg construct sort of name...

I was in an ITIL class with a co-worker who is a EE (electrical Engineer) and the instructor was at a point where she shared a humorous event to tie a point into the class. There were at a customers site where they had intermittent drop outs of their internet. Every Time someone came out to check things were normal. One…

sizing is a huge requirement for this especially in a large environment. The fiewall logs alone are ginormous.
-
Just being able to follow others was a big loss in moving to the present environment. Hopefully we can effectively do so again. It makes a huge difference in being able to stay current on content by those you want to see content and commentary from.

I dislike the current trend of only doing partial backups...basically the delta's of what has changed. You need to have a full backup from time to time so that you have periodic place to fall back to. A full backup a week with partials following seems to be reasonable. Yes there is more data to back up these days....but if…

mcam I know that can be done in OpenView and Orion is getting there as well but is still behind the curve. Hopefully with the direction of the new versions here lately we'll be that much closer. I think they need to be looking at the ITIL structures and seeing how their product can provide those "service" oriented views…

We had a "whiteboard" wall covering applied to the back wall of our engineering pit. It's 4'high by 20+' long...

I have seen all of the above utilized. In the end, all of the mentioned methods should be incorporated...wiki or knowledge based articles are the primary tool we use in my current lifetime. The challenge is keeping things up to date in a growing/evolving environment. It is practically a fulltime job to keep it all current.

just change the name to "Department of Homeland Insecurty", it will be cheaper, faster, and technically correct.
