I'd like to have the tool but not being on the VM team and they have their own tools....<sigh>
-
always blame the network or the database...or the VM team.

regardless of how a particular language processes data types, you as the coder must be aware and make sure any conversion is done as required by the application or provide for an exception.

Then I got the context messed up as I had the impression of DPA (or a version thereof) going GA in 2019. The info I got was from the main page linked.
-
looks simple to set up....again, performance/DB size as well as latency are the concerns. For someone who travels and does demo's, it could be a good thing.
-
I try and use traps as a last resort...they tend to be unreliable at times when a system is busy. This is where agent based monitoring should come in. It does all the work locally at the managed node forwarding info/data/metrics to the central management server. This allows for store and forward capability in the case of a…

I thought it said prefstack on the question...but I cannot go back to verify.

because it was anomalous behaviour to your normal purchase activity.

Good thing is candied bacon isn't healthy...but dang it is good.
-
it depends...does the company want to support the environment or pay to have someone else who doesn't have the "investment" in data or environment host things. I think many think they'd rather pay to play and not have to understand or appreciate all that goes on behind the scenes.

yep... we should have one through the DFW area in 2024 if I recall what I read yesterday correctly.

Yes...the kind that stands up in your mug and slaps you.

I was also contacted by a person at opsgenie for the same a few weeks back. They were pushing to get a demo going and I basically told them I was not going to install additional software to do something Orion should do out of the box. It took a couple of back and forth emails to get the point across.... didn't do a lot for…

I like your points...the big one besides the usual identity theft and money is the brand damage but also the trust that is damaged. These days it is not a matter of if the brand/trust is damaged but when. Of course some companies have it busted more than once and over time it almost becomes a "normal" thing. Once we get to…

I will side with rschroeder on the "True Citizen Engagement" title and such. While these seems to be more "government" related articles for the under informed citizen, they speak of general basic IT best practices that should already be in place an really mirror what us civilians in IT already do.

unplug every week for an hour or so is a great idea...I'd rather go fishing, camping , or hunting for a week to disconnect. FB and other apps do take too many liberties with your identity and data.

yes....

yep, guilty !
-
agreed...and just under 6000 points to hit level 20 myself.

What sucks is that the people exposed were not "paying" customers...but rather their data was hosted for other companies to use.

same thing applies to rotating tools and objects with loose jewelry, hair, and clothes.

datachick, your statement "The key to a collaborative environment, though, is to question without judging. Our attitudes should be about getting to why and therefore answers, not "whom to blame"." , is very important. It sets the stage for an overall IT team which is what any shop is. Regarding those specific questions,…

I would need to echo rschroeders comments. Now on that note, your last paragraph is crucial...small steps then test and verify.

Think of the hardware as a tool box. The software as the tools that sit in the tool box. You need both to have the tool kit. The fancier the tools you have in the tool box, the more you can potentially do...and in some cases you have to have a larger tool box to hold them as u1976turn talked about. Now in amateur radio…
