There are many methods and algorithms involved in machine learning. It seems that for the most part you can break it down to 2 broad classes: 1) lets call these supervised algorithms where you provide some labeled data for learning (from a log file for example) where it can learn to distinguish normals messages from…

Looks like the hint for #10 requires you to create an account to brightalk to be able to get to the content. I just entered in generic stuff into each field since I don't need another source of marketing email. Data validation was nil so random typing in most fields works....then you are in.

Yep...downtown CowTown. Began back in '84. Ah yes..the forcefeed warehouses.

Playing catch on posting.. Good stuff. I wish more traffic on the internet was encrypted. The https Everywhere extension is something I need to look at. Thank you for sharing...

Don't forget to have a 3 AM friendly set of top ten issues (most common) and the solutions/steps available in a easily transportable format . use simple text files where possible since they can be read on any platform. I usually have all my cheat sheets that way so I can pull them up anywhere.

That is even better...then you can shake a hand and tell the people on the front lines Thank you.... Also then your kids can climb on the trucks and take pictures. In some cases there are organizations that do make those solicitations, but only a small amount actually makes it to the organization as most goes into overhead…

This would be nice...voted up Also the ability to schedule a window of time..say 2 hours or what ever you configure that begins when that node goes down...perfect for patching. (this is a capability in nagios that would be great in Orion) as a cheesy workaround we set an environment custom property on the node so we know…

All good valid points but not necessarily new. These points have existed back literally decades although some of the security issues are newer. In many ways people need to understand history in order to prevent it from happening again if it is a bad thing. The history of IT and "cloud computing" goes back to the 60's when…

We have a little in the cloud..primarily a couple of SaaS offerings. Otherwise we are about 80% virtualized and are teetering on BYOD primarily with phones and tablets.

With all the great new features being added, the need for a data warehouse to keep long term metrics (without data being rolled up to averaged values) becomes more important. Lets show this idea some attention! #bumpsquad

Sometimes it is as simple as plugging unlabeled power cord of the core router back into the power strip....

Congrats to ChrystalT and philtreid !!

I assume you can access everything the same way while out on the road...as long as you have internet connectability ? If so, hopefully it is all via https so it is fairly secure.

inconceivable !! I have never seen a bug resurface...oh wait, I have. <rant> CA re-introduced the same bugs (yes plural) in subsequent releases of Unicenter when it was ported to a new OS. They ported over the same base code without fixing any of the known bugs. I went through 3 iterations of the same bugs over a period of…

No problem...Just thought that you'd like to know. Thanks for all your work on this !!!

We actually have a periodic test email that randomly goes out to test peoples awareness. If you report it as phishing you get a good job message.
