The question I have is, is it the count to see the blocking tab or the count to actually be on that tab ? The question is somewhat ambigious...

Dez, that is more than a nuggets worth of great points to not only ponder but look to see what you have in place that is comparable and refine to have a more solid plan in place. Thank you for sharing this !

I would think so as long as you go through the steps..purely speculation on my part though. DanielleH would be able to let you know for sure.

API's are a bit more than described... They allow you to interface programmatically to other running software. Not only can you use it to query status of said software, but you can in some cases tell it to do things depending on the features and capabilities of the API...

200K bump !

Maybe there is a way to "escape" the apostrophe's like we do in the unix world.

Question for day 7 has radio buttons for a single answer. Researching the hint list 3 correct answers so I am thinking the check boxes should be squares to be able to select multiple answers.

Sometimes the tools look like they will work but won't work well. Just because it looks like a phillips screw head doesn't mean a normal phillips screwdriver will work...there are different types.

All good points but I believe it is missing one very important design characteristic - Scalability. If you can't scale due to growth and support the other 5 characteristics then it all fails. In fact they all have to support each other. It is like the old fire tetrahedron. You have Oxygen, fuel, heat, and a fourth item the…

SAM in an earlier life...

While I agree for the most part...it is not just government networks and enterprises that are a mix of old and new... In the end, I believe the proper term is more like Enterprise Monitoring as it encompasses the networks, SIEM tools, server health, application response, etc. as you have alluded it is a combination of all…

The cats quickly and thoroughly trained our youngest daughter...especially when they think they are out of food because they can see the bottom of the food bowl.... one of the dogs trained everyone else to pet to pet him because he whimpers when he wants attention...more like cries for attention.

You should still be able to answer yesterdays...

Exactly although it is the stuff of science fiction come to life. Yes the cost(and waste) of items for the conference world, and it is it's own world and culture is staggering for these huge events. But for many, the lanyards and badges are a "Badge of Honor" and provide cred to others.

Another #bumpsquad bump !

I have always questioned Gartners evaluations... They never seem to pick up on the peculiarities of a product or it's weaknesses. They seem to scrape the glossies and build their vision of a product segment from that instead of people in that industry doing decent evaluations and scoring... Things that require many…

nickzourdos, that is almost as much fun as knowing you had redundant power supplies but finding out that procurement thought they'd save the company money and get the next smaller sized supplies....one alone couldn't support the switch.

Actually don't forget what you knew...these concepts are just rebranded terms that have existed for awhile. For eample, ABIM is just a rebranded term for ARM (Application Response Measurement) that began in 1996. Application Response Measurement - Wikipedia

Mission complete !

nifty....so if makeing changes to instance sizes...do it during scheduled maintenance... Sure would be nice to have calendars in Orion to set maintenance windows up with....

Anything that suddenly appears as software defined xxxxxxxx immediately gets a grain (well chunk) of rock salt thrown at it. Yes software controls and manages many things these days. We shall see.

It was one of the "select all that apply" type of questions. Not all selectable answers are correct. A hint that has been mentioned several times lately: If the answers have little square boxes next to them, then it wants more than one box selected. There may not be a "click all that apply" phrase in the hint or question.…

raising hand....this actually existed before the term shadow IT or Rogue IT existed.

That's a whole 'nother can of scorpions ! Actually, this is where the concept of services comes in. Either by groups, or data in a CMDB you have that relationship. There are other ways like TNS ping to see if that listener is up followed by a simple query of the DB (which should be all part of the DB availability checks).…

I would run monitoring on-prem and hopefully in the same cloud where you have tools/applications. That way you can reach back and forth to see what the cloud side sees of your on-prem and what your on-prem can see of the cloud. They can both also watch the SaaS environment. Now you can see where a failure is at, you can…

One of the fire departments in our ESD had to put up a sign saying that pokemon-go play was not allowed on the property.

I am there too. I used to have to stop on the drive to work to take a nap just to get to work.
