I side with rschroeder on the email issue. Too many companies make you agree to terms that allow them to SPAM you because you agreed to their terms at sign up. If you don't agree to their terms you don't get to set up an account to vote, review, etc.

Candied bacon is evil...especially if you put some cayenne pepper in it. Then there is Bacon Jam

Thank you to everyone at Solarwinds for making IT easier to manage for us IT pro's out in the trenches..

I have seen servers decimated trying to keep up with an ASA firewall log...

wow...after 6 years is still out there.

That me be...but does everyone ? All it takes is someone to ignore the rules 1 time.

note that I included the words "most" and "should". This is from experience in small to large IT departments (1000+ people). Of course it takes some training and the best training tool is to actually have to use it.

Sounds like a fun time....we'll be home keeping the lights on in our datacenters !

Ah...but you do have to document that you informed a higher up or it never happened...plausible deniability.

The provided hint page does not appear to have the answer...drilling down one more level alludes to an answer but is also incorrect at one link but is consistent with any installation. Looking elsewhere provides what is the apparent answer but requires a certain feature set in hardware so it is ambiguous and thus not a…

I guess the Gif rschroeder is speaking of in in the "When the tickets keep coming" post I can't access here at the office. Bummer as any reference to Escher sparks my interest. gsutherland@sharoncu.com, I am not sure Microsoft even learns the hard way.....

agreed, there are not neatly ordered columns and the answer based upon how it is worded is not an option as I interpret things.

Looking forward to this..oh yeah, and ThwackCamp too!

I'd have to copy one the next time one pops up...they go away once you interact with them. Some look like shopping discounts, some look like social engineering attempts, some are links to a printer document...but we don't have that brand of printer/scanner.

Exactly....sometimes they figure that out over time as well if they have the tools. Actions of that sort take careful consideration before implementing.

Could have been worse...at least it wasn't hot coffee through the nose.

It helps a great deal when you have established standards for how things are described (keywords, tags, etc.) in searchable fields. In other words normalized data. Having 5 ways to refer to the same thing makes reporting and searching a royal pain and your reports are not correct.

blame it on the keyboard...a little enthusiastic keyboard bounce.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term "dropped packets"...

I echo the sentiments of others in that keeping the documentation up to date is a full time job and without constant data from the responsible parties to include future plans, patching that may cause changes to the DR world, etc. the job is dauntless at best.

not unlike an etch-a-sketch...

Unfortunately I did not score on a Pi...

ThwackCamp Day 1 bump !

Another version of scope creep....
-
you can always use O365 to send out a poll...then duck and cover !!
-
Depends...if you are using AD for DHCP, then you can embed some AD data as to the server type/purpose/etc. that you can pull to populate various custom properties to streamline setting up monitoring. The downfall is you won't by default start monitoring drives or certain other things...

That would be the case

we block usb ports period unless you have a security exception which has to be reviewed at least once per year but could be as frequent as once per quarter.

GOOD products as opposed to the GOOD app that is truly not good.
